[PFS] Chosen One Pladin of Erastil

Advice

I am strongly considering making a Chosen One Paladin. One idea that seems interesting is to make my familiar a Petrifern. Does it seem like a bad idea take a familiar that is not useful in combat? Does anyone know of any legal advanced familiars that would continue with the plant theme?

Bumpity Bump

Scarab Sages

You could say the orrery form of a Harbinger is wooden.
Earth Elemental also works; the petrifern learned how to move while petrified.

Silver Crusade

A Paladin is powerful enough that it's OK if you spend resources on a familiar that's not useful in combat. If you semi-optimize the rest, and use semi-decent tactics, you should do fine in PFS play.
