need help with gestalt character mechanics based on background

Advice

Hey all, I have come here today to ask you guys your thoughts and opinions on this guy I am posting with.

He is for a tinkered with CC adventure, the class has already been given the big green light, but now I am unsure of what to gestalt it with, the norm for it would be gunslinger, however the class is banned, what I was thinking about the following two classes, also the character will fight with a weapon finessed slashing grace sword cane for dex to damage

Investigator
Reasons-
It fits with the theme of the CC AP, and even more so with the altered CC setting the GM has for this one.
It boosts my skills exponentially
eventually gives fairly decent damage
offers extracts, which are mostly quite different from the machines the machine smith uses to replicate spells.
I fight with a sword cane!
gives full saves with full progression of wisdom

Cons-
Trap finding twice
medium BaB and HD twice
weighs down on swift actions and magical option actions.
no boost to combat untill level 4, then minimal boost

Fighter-
Pros-
HD10, full BaB,
weapon training
feats every level
large combat boost

Cons-
slightly less theme fitting
poor will saves

do you guys have any other suggestions?

Slashing Grace won't work with a sword cane by RAW, as it's a piercing weapon. So, you'll have to ask your GM if he will allow it for you.

Also, it is not clear what your concept for the character is, and hence it's almost impossible to give you any suggestions.

Silver Crusade

has a background in the alias, but for the sake of TL:DR

-Genius Inventor and chemist, quite efficient with a blade. Gentlemanly almost like the iconic london gentlmen but steampunked and horrored out.

he will allow the sword cane

what are you missing from the concept?

Alchemist or an archetype of a martial class that utilises elements of alchemist.

Or..maybe you GM could be convinced to the arcane gun wizard archetype? Its not that much like a gunslingers gun and not that much combaty, but just look at the pic!

Oh, I did not realize the alias had a background.

I haven't read the Technology Guide, so I don't know how much I can contribute. My only thought would be to adapt the 3.5 Artificer class from Eberron into Pathfinder, but I don't know if your GM would allow that.

There are early flintlock firearms so its a possibility, I hadn't thought about the spellslinger.

Swashbuckler. If nothing else, talk the GM into letting you replace the Inspired Blade's mentions of rapiers with Sword Canes and have at it.

If he allows sword cane... pistol sword cane maybe? Goes really well with Savage Technologist.

See if you can persuade your DM to just allow sword cane to be a stand-in for rapier in the Inspired Swashbuckler, take 1 level of that and the rest in alchemist or investigator (empiricist).
