Healing an Eidolon

Rules Questions

The rules say "The eidolon does not heal naturally."

Our group was unsure what this meant.

Option 1) The eidolon does not gain HD over night as a character or animal companion would equal to their HD.

Option 2) The Eidolon can only be healed by the spell "Rejuvinate Eidolon" and Clerical magic or bursts would not heal it.

This was not mentioned in the APG FAQ so I was wondering if there was an offical answer? or failing that what the general consensus is?

It means that Eidolons don't recover their HDx1 hit point from a nights rest.

The only way to heal an Eidolon is the folloiwng.

1. Cure or Healing Spells.

2. Rejuvenate Eidolon Spells

3. An evolution that grants fast healing or regeneration.

My question that's been bugging me this whole time:

What happens when your eidolon "dies" and gets sent back? How the hell is your eidolon supposed to regen HP when only cure/rejuvenate spells work on it?

"The only exception to this is if the eidolon was slain, in which case it returns with half its normal hit points." PRD

Please note, unfortunately, this also means the eidolon does not recover from ability damage naturally either.

It's one of the most annoying things about them.
