Scavenging and T2 plants

I'be been through about 40 hexes and scavenged about 1000 trash heaps since Friday and have found 0 T2 herbs/wood. I've found everything else. Anyone else noticed this, or have I just been in the wrong places?

What geographic region are you in?

Goblin Squad Member

I've been travelling from North, to South West to South and back up North again.

Goblin Squad Member

Ok, but what regions are you going threw? In order to answer you question, I need to know where you have been, as different regions have different resources distribution. I will be glad to check my notes and compare your findings to mine.

Every hex en route from Aldwerwag to Hopes End and the plains below, up to Emerald lodge, through Iron Gauntlet to Marchmont. Then Alderwag to Terra Firma and the plains below, back along to Emerald lodge.

Can tentatively confirm: I've scavenged in a lot of different regions and never gotten oak, maple, or other T2 plants.

My experience was that scavenging nodes drop the types of materials not found in the current hex's nodes, plus the materials that are only found in scavenging nodes. So if there are plant nodes in the hex, the scavenging node won't drop material that would be found in a plant node.

Mountain hexes have no scavenging nodes.

Forest, Cropland, Swamp, and Badland/Rough hexes have plant, essence, and scavenging nodes. The scavenging nodes drop pelts, cloth, and stuff found in mining nodes.

I don't know what nodes are found in the hills in the NW. If the nodes are mining, essence, and scavenging, I'd expect some of those scavenging nodes to drop plant node materials. If they drop plant node materials, but no T2 materials, the drop tables might be bad.

I have found T2 plants in the Alderwag/Ozem's area since Friday. No shortage of Oak in my hauls.

In plant nodes, or in trash piles?

It is my understanding that Wood never appears in Scavenging nodes - Tier 1 or Tier 2.

It is also my understanding that Cloth only appears in Scavenging nodes. I have personally gathered hundreds of Cotton (Tier 2 Cloth) from Scavenging nodes in a number of regions in the South.

Ah. My mistake. I don't have any scavengers.

My understanding is that absolutely no plant node goods drop in scavenge. If that is not meant to be the case, then it is a bug. I suspect it is working as intended, though.

What you can find in Scavenge nodes:
Anything that drops in Rock nodes
Hemp, Wool, Cotton, Silk exclusively in Scavenge nodes
Animal Pelts, Beast Pelts, Monster Pelts, Creature Pelts exclusively in scavenge nodes.

I can confirm that scavenging doesn't seem to gives plant materials. You will generally find cloth, pelts, or some mining node materials. I think the only reason they added mining node materials was due to the shortage of variety for Pelts and Cloth plus mining nodes not being nearly as common as the other types of nodes.

I thought in alpha I was getting wood (stop sniggering, dwarf) from scavenging. I didn't have a T2 forester, and I was getting T2 wood from somewhere.

Goblin Squad Member

I've never gathered Wood or Herbs from a Scavenging Node, in Alpha or EE.

Fibers, pelts, and ore and gems matches my scavenging experience. I don't believe I've ever gotten wood, herbs, or chemicals like antimony from middens.

On an unrelated note, my brain insists on reading this thread title as "T2 pants".

So, to sum up this thread:

T2 pants prevent getting wood

Is it possible you were getting T2 wood from killing mobs? This has been the case for me during EE as well as in Alpha.

In early EE the scavenging nodes around Kindleburn were a reasonable source of Pine Logs.

While it is a bit of a trek, I have found Deep Blue Spinels, Woad Leaves, Superior Cotton, Smooth Oak Logs, Monster Pelts

in theses hexes. [-18, -.04] [-17, -.04] and [-17, -.05] Harad's Map http://www.pfogis.org/

Actually good drop rates.

Forgot about Solid Gold Ore.

Thanks Shocka! I'm not mad :)

I've found Spinels and Cotton are pretty common. Creature pelts I have found only in 3 hexes so far, and only 2 of those in any quantity. Monster pelts I haven't found a good source for. I have found just 3 gold ore in all my scavenging, and since I wasn't looking for it, I didn't make a note of where it was.

I have also noticed that T1 pelts have dropped off massively since the patch. In most of the areas I was previously getting them I am now getting silver ore.
