Fluff Question: Are Eidolons capable of sex?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

I once ran a socially-backward gnomish summoner whose sole intention in being a summoner was to summon a fantastical humanoid female creature for procreational purposes.

Is that optional, according to RAW? Or does it really matter?

Just curious.

...Oh boy, I had a feeling this thread was made in relation to...that.

All I'll say is, the bonds of an Eidolon to a Summoner is a magical, supernatural thing. I imagine the creation of Eidolons in regards to a Summoner fall under the same paradigm, similar to how Zanpakutou are in the Bleach anime.

Is it really procreation you're interested in or primarily the activities leading to procreation?

Does that mean that summoners can get their monsters preggers? Whut?

This seems to be the question.

I don't see why you couldn't "try".

As to whether it would work...

Dotting.

Maybe a new 2-point evolution to add the appropriate functionality for bearing a child? Or 1-point for the uh... supporting the act... and a second 1-point for actually having offspring?

Would the child be an Eidolon as well? Or some sort of Tiefling/Aasimar-like deal?

You can have sex with just about anything that has an appropriately sized protrusion or hole. I would doubt an eidolon can produce children, however.

Role play question. Talk to your GM. I see no need for mechanics to address this.

No mechanical effect, no need to house rule spending points on evolutions.

There are a couple of 3rd party products that deal with the offspring or descendants of eidolons, so the possibility definitely exists.

The Tome of Twisted Things by Little Red Goblin Games includes a race called the Warped, which is the offspring of an unnatural coupling between summoner and eidolon.

There is another product whose name I cannot recall that includes an Eidolon bloodline, presumably a more distant descendant of such a coupling.

Paizo itself has nothing official to say on this topic, as best I can tell.

First you have to decide what it means to be summoned here, since they are summoned.

Second and the most important, what if you are both worshipers of Lamashtu?

4 people marked this as a favorite.

well, iirc there's that lamashtu mask that lets you impregnate/be impregnated by pretty much anything of the appropriate size categories, which could theoretically let you produce offpsring with one?

my question is "why" and "what makes you think this kind of Magical Realm would fly at my table"

.

David knott 242 wrote:

i think they're quiet on the matter because they dont want/didn't expect people to follow those mental paths in their game.

you know, the one with lamashtu being a thing, and with ogre rape/inbreeding being pretty much canon.

The Demon Mother's Mask was what i was remembering, but apparently it's just animals and for female-users-only.

[REDACTED, CANT FIND ANYTHING LIKE THIS, MAY BE MISREMEMBERING]

if you're allowing 3.5 material there was that 'flower of earthly delights' that let literally anything mate with anything (whose fluff example of how it was discovered was that an elf artist wanted to make love to a mountain--the mountain ITSELF, mind you. not anything living on it, because that would be weird)

I'm pretty sure the flower and the mountain-...lover both come from Exalted's eXXXalted: Scroll of Swallowed Darkness.

Just ask dolphins, who have bravely pioneered the concept of "nasal sex".

Aren't you glad you now know that?

Anyways, seriously, summoners have got to learn one of these days: Don't put your dick in it.

The eidolon is an outsider. Beyond that it is at least implicit that it is a special kind of outsider that has a mutable form (or perhaps no physical form at all until summoned). As such it likely has no means of sexual reproduction on its own simply because that's not how it reproduces, if it even reproduces in the first place.

It is easy enough to say that the eidolon is created from the raw essence of the plane it comes from by the summoner. Or any number of other things besides.

But by that same token a the creepy and lonely Otaku can bring in his unholy baby-mama and produce little homunculi-spawn that are damned by the gods as living sins (or not). There is nothing against it. The kiddo would probably be planetouched based on the alignment and abilities of the eidolon and if accursed as a sin against life there are numerous templates out there for cursed critters.

Perhaps it is how the first svirfneblin came to be.

And for some reason I'm reminded of this meme: http://i.imgur.com//NOECI0s.jpg

Not gonna lie, I am quite curious to see what that race is like.

No. As far as I can tell outsiders, which eidolons appear to be, are fairly able to procreate with a lot of things, only being beaten out by humans and dragons. However gnomes have pseudo-outsider fae ancestry which mucks things up as I haven't seen much evidence of Fae/outsider creatures aside from magical 'taint' such as the sorcerer class. If the summoner were human this would totally work.

Granted that the final answer depends on the gm and the logic s/he applies to the setting and general tolerance to the question in the first place, but that's my answer if I were the gm.

I fear this line of questioning.

Sex yes. Procreation no.

Once had an incredibly popular villain, a female half-orc/half-elven Summoner who had an eidolon as her lover. Of course, he appeared more as a hairless dark blue demon wolf covered in glowing gold runes..

You need to define SEX first.

Despite dictionary and science, lots of people have very different definitions they assume are the correct meaning on this one.

That said, Summoner is certainly allowed to create a female-looking eidolon for sexual recreation. I'd call this an evil action, as it really isn't any different from giving birth to a daughter for the purposes of sexual recreation. Depraved behavior.

I will note that the First World Summoner is able to create a fey eidolon, so don't restrict it to just outsiders.

if you can use a rock, you can use anything with a physical presence, even if it is just rubbing up against it...

can you ask the question in a way that explains what exactly you were unsure of in regards to trying ferdoodle your eidolon's frizondle?

generally removing people's freedom is a lawful and slightly evil action, since chaos want's freedom for everyone.

Also, as has been pointed out, there are no restrictions one way or the other, so it's up to how you and your GM feel it should work.

Objections to the word, or context?

Basically, summoned eidolon is an intelligent creature being forced to exist as a sex slave. The summoned eidolon can't even commit suicide, as the summoner will just bring them back with a fresh summoning.

Slavery is a lawful action (in pathfinder).

That said, forcing sex on others, aka, rape, is an evil action (in pathfinder).

A character that spends their life trying to summon forth a better rape victim is depraved.

You're certainly allowed to play evil characters in pathfinder.

the eidolon always shares your alignment, i always interpreted that it meant it ways shared your views of things, making it almost impossible for the sex to not be consensual.

but fluff is fluff and can be what ever anyone wants it to be.

SO many thoughts... mostly about that whole tentacle evolution and the myriad of possibilities you have in your choice of conjured sex puppet.

I don't know that I would call it evil though... A wizard could summon an Angel and a Succubus and do roughly the same thing... No guarantee for the progeny but... you know.

The succubus also kills you. Just a note.

Well I think the general consensus is that you can totally pork your eidolon. Half of us have done worse when we were 13. There's even a picture in Kobold Press' Deep Magic about it.

Pretty sure what makes it "consensual" is that you ask and they, of their own free will, say "yes."

Does the eidolon have ability to say "no" to their summoner? Isn't it basically a slave?

but for the most part it wouldn't want to say no. if you enjoy sex, your eidolon would too, if you think your eidolon should be a meat shield because you can summon it again later, and it cannot die, your eidolon things this is good too, since you're the only one capable of summoning it.
