Archetype Ability Stacking

Rules Questions

Do the Titan Fighter (fighter) abilities stack with the Titan Mauler (barbarian) abilities? I want to play a dwarven berserker that uses a Large Dwarven Waraxe.

any assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated!

Which abilities are you trying to stack? I will take a stab at it but if I miss something let me know.

I'm guessing you wan't Giant Weapon Wielder and Jotungrip. Unfortunately they can't be used together because Jotungrip requires that the weapon be appropriately sized and Giant weapon Wielder does not make large weapons appropriately sized for your character by RAW.

That being said if this is a home game I don't think a houserule allowing it would be incredibly unbalanced (though it would be strong).

I'm talking about the abilities that reduce the penalty for using larger weapons. Large Dwarven Waraxe, he'll be two-handing it.

Oh, as far as that goes those abilities should stack. When you look at that kind of pairing you just need to pay attention to whether or not the abilities reference a static reduction, or weather they reference the original value.

In this case both wordings say that they reduce the penalty by a static amount that isn't based off of the original value. If, for example, they were worded as saying "treat the penalty as if it was one less than the original penalty" then they wouldn't stack (you would just get the better one).

Liberty's Edge

for reference:

Titan Fighter wrote:

Incredible Heft (Ex)

At 3rd level, a titan fighter becomes more skilled at wielding weapons intended for creatures one size category larger than himself. The penalty on attack rolls for using such weapons is reduced by 1, including when using over-sized two-handed weapons.

At 7th level and every 4 levels thereafter, this penalty is reduced by another 1 (minimum 0).

This ability replaces armor training.

Titan Mauler wrote:

Massive Weapons (Ex)

At 3rd level, a titan mauler becomes skilled in the use of massive weapons looted from her titanic foes. The attack roll penalty for using weapons too large for her size is reduced by 1, and this reduction increases by 1 for every three levels beyond 3rd (to a minimum of 0).

This ability replaces trap sense.

I would say it does stack, since they are not the same source.

Awesome! Thanks, Gentlemen!
