Might not be just one... he did initially say he wanted between four and eight.

"Congratulations, Abadaran. May your nation prosper."

Mawj sat in the jail cell, thinking deeply about his choices in life as a ribbon of water dripped down the wall.

Thus far there hadn't been many, to be honest. As a ratfolk, he was but twelve winters old, and already an adult by the reckoning of his people. He grew up in the sewers beneath New Stetven and lived with his family, a clan of thieves, burglars, and scavengers that scraped a living from the detritus of human civilization in the streets above. He was a bright one, though. His parents could tell that he was destined for great things, comparatively speaking. Perhaps running his own gang? Ruling over a fiefdom of theft and muck in the catacombs. Such is the stuff of dreams for his people.

But he had made choices. Such as the time he heard his name whispered in the stillness of the night while trying to sleep. Most children would have chalked it up to the wind, or a trick of echoing sound. They would have rolled over and gone back to sleep. But not Mawj. No, he snuck out and followed the sound, until he came to a cloyingly thick patch of shadow. The shadow introduced itself. Mawj introduced himself. They chatted and quickly become acquaintances, then confidantes, then friends.

Mawj was given new powers by his friend. He could make people have the worst sort of luck. People that bullied him, or harassed his clan, or competed for resources. He was never in charge, but his mates quickly learned that any gang Mawj joined enjoyed quick success. Eventually, someone with bravery and vision decided they should raid a rich man's cellar on the surface. It was foolhardy and daring, and Mawj could not resist.

And now he was in a jail cell. Because, you know, rich men tend to have alarms. And guards who respond to alarms. Guards with meaty hands and sharp blades. So rather than die, Mawj surrendered. Now he counted the time by the dripping of water. His self-pitying reverie was broken by rough human footsteps, and the flooding light of a hooded lantern shining into his cell. Another rich human man. You could tell because his hands were soft, his clothes were clean, and he covered his mouth and nose.

"Are you the witch?"

Mawj's eyes widened in alarm before he could school his expression. The man nodded. "I thought as much. I am here on behalf of... a friend. I believe you might know him. He likely goes by Mr. Shade or Mr. Shadow?" Mawj froze, only nodding slightly after a long hesitation. The man continued. "I am Goronel, of House Lebeda. We are a mercantile house here on the surface. My masters have been searching for an agent to send on their behalf on a journey. We aim to cultivate and colonize a rough wilderness. They have been using... creative methods of finding a candidate, and their latest attempts direct me here."

Mawj was trying to grasp the potential consequences of this conversation. What did his Friend want for him? Why hadn't his Friend told him to expect this? Did his Friend have other friends? While his head felt like swimming, he forced it back to immediate situation. Here was a way out. "I am listening."

The man nodded, and licked his lips. "What do you know of.... the River Kingdoms?"

Liam Satori
Ex-Monk (Drunken Master) 1

Backstory:
Growing up, Liam always showed aggressive tendencies towards his masters. He was orphaned when he was only a month old and adopted by one of the caretakers of the monastery. He wasn't spoiled, nor was he neglected. He was well disciplined and respectful, but he was arrogant and usually felt as though he was being held back.
One day, after being denied advancement to the next segment of his training, he lost his temper and challenged his master to prove himself ready for the next course. Challenges are conducted under the audience of the entire monastery with the headmaster being the referee and judge. Each combatant chooses his preferred weapon, at this time Liam's were the sai. He and his master, Fukuda, dueled. His master went easy on him, carefully trying not to deal any serious damage, but Liam could tell his master's intent and felt insulted by it. As he continued building his rage he became stronger, and eventually overpowered his master. Fukuda made a slip-up at the wrong moment as one of Liam's sais slid through his master's throat. His eyes widened, his mouth gaped open, and the entire audience began gasping, the headmaster called the duel off and ordered for clinics, but it was too late.
That night Fukuda was pronounced dead, and Liam was sentenced to a hearing. Liam was found guilty and was exiled from the monastery.
From that day forth, Liam put the sais down for good and never touched a weapon again. He picked up drinking, and before long found himself in many barfights. He began using his skills at hand-to-hand combat to help pay his tabs, and lived off of the land.
He eventually decided to start looking for a job after losing his last fight and ending up with an unpaid tab.

Bonus Feat Humans select one extra feat at 1st level.
Skilled Humans gain an additional skill rank at first level and one additional rank whenever they gain a level.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency Monks are proficient with the brass knuckles, cestus, club, crossbow (light or heavy), dagger, handaxe, javelin, kama, nunchaku, quarterstaff, sai, shortspear, short sword, shuriken, siangham, sling, spear and temple sword. Monks are not proficient with any armor or shields. When wearing armor, using a shield, or carrying a medium or heavy load, a monk loses his AC bonus, as well as his fast movement and flurry of blows abilities.
AC Bonus When unarmored and unencumbered, the monk adds his Wisdom bonus (if any) to his AC and his CMD. In addition, a monk gains a +1 bonus to AC and CMD at 4th level. This bonus increases by 1 for every four monk levels thereafter, up to a maximum of +5 at 20th level.
These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the monk is flat-footed. He loses these bonuses when he is immobilized or helpless, when he wears any armor, when he carries a shield, or when he carries a medium or heavy load.
Flurry of Blows (Ex) Starting at 1st level, a monk can make a flurry of blows as a full-attack action.
When doing so, he may make one additional attack, taking a –2 penalty on all of his attack rolls, as if using the Two-Weapon Fighting feat. These attacks can be any combination of unarmed strikes and attacks with a monk special weapon (he does not need to use two weapons to utilize this ability).
For the purpose of these attacks, the monk's base attack bonus from his monk class levels is equal to his monk level. For all other purposes, such as qualifying for a feat or a prestige class, the monk uses his normal base attack bonus.
At 8th level, the monk can make two additional attacks when he uses flurry of blows, as if using Improved Two-Weapon Fighting (even if the monk does not meet the prerequisites for the feat).
At 15th level, the monk can make three additional attacks using flurry of blows, as if using Greater Two-Weapon Fighting (even if the monk does not meet the prerequisites for the feat).
A monk applies his full Strength bonus to his damage rolls for all successful attacks made with flurry of blows, whether the attacks are made with an off-hand or with a weapon wielded in both hands. A monk may substitute disarm, sunder, and trip combat maneuvers for unarmed attacks as part of a flurry of blows. A monk cannot use any weapon other than an unarmed strike or a special monk weapon as part of a flurry of blows. A monk with natural weapons cannot use such weapons as part of a flurry of blows, nor can he make natural attacks in addition to his flurry of blows attacks.
Unarmed Strike (Ex) At 1st level, a monk gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. A monk's attacks may be with fist, elbows, knees, and feet. This means that a monk may make unarmed strikes with his hands full. There is no such thing as an off-hand attack for a monk striking unarmed. A monk may thus apply his full Strength bonus on damage rolls for all his unarmed strikes.
Usually a monk's unarmed strikes deal lethal damage, but he can choose to deal nonlethal damage instead with no penalty on his attack roll. He has the same choice to deal lethal or nonlethal damage while grappling.
A monk's unarmed strike is treated as both a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either manufactured weapons or natural weapons.
A monk also deals more damage with his unarmed strikes than a normal person would, as shown above on Table: Monk.
Bonus Feat At 1st level, 2nd level, and every 4 levels thereafter, a monk may select a bonus feat. These feats must be taken from the following list:
Catch Off-Guard, Combat Reflexes, Deflect Arrows, Dodge, Improved Grapple, Scorpion Style, and Throw Anything.
At 6th level, the following feats are added to the list:
Gorgon's Fist, Improved Bull Rush, Improved Disarm, Improved Feint, Improved Trip, and Mobility.
At 10th level, the following feats are added to the list:
Improved Critical, Medusa's Wrath, Snatch Arrows, and Spring Attack.
A monk need not have any of the prerequisites normally required for these feats to select them.
Stunning Fist (Ex) At 1st level, the monk gains Stunning Fist as a bonus feat, even if he does not meet the prerequisites. The monk may attempt a stunning attack a number of times per day equal to his monk level, plus one more time per day for every four levels he has in classes other than monk.
At 4th level, and every 4 levels thereafter, the monk gains the ability to apply a new condition to the target of his Stunning Fist. This condition replaces stunning the target for 1 round, and a successful saving throw still negates the effect.
At 4th level, he can choose to make the target fatigued.
At 8th level, he can make the target sickened for 1 minute.
At 12th level, he can make the target staggered for 1d6+1 rounds.
At 16th level, he can permanently blind or deafen the target.
At 20th level, he can paralyze the target for 1d6+1 rounds.
The monk must choose which condition will apply before the attack roll is made. These effects do not stack with themselves (a creature sickened by Stunning Fist cannot become nauseated if hit by Stunning Fist again), but additional hits do increase the duration.

Pan is ready to view in all things except for equipment. Partially because I wanted to know if I could get my reduction to alchemical items on my starting gear.

That said, Pan is a interesting fellow that rarely lifts a hand for himself, preferring to direct and assist others.

Eventually, if allowed, I would like to take Leadership with him. That said, he will never be a combat monkey, but will be very useful in combat.

For me, I am in EST and usually up until 2am most nights, as well. I work in restaurants and have odd hours, but if I'm not in the middle of a session, asleep, or talking to guests, I usually have my campaigns page opened. I am listed in a kingmaker game currently, but I dropped from it due to a great many reasons (every player who started the game has dropped from it). I have never gotten into the second book.

For the Glory of Jalaijatali, Thessk is ready to go forth and pacify.

(Background and such all done)

Submissions so far:

Thessk is Chaotic Good.. Typo on my original character sheet

i see you didnt list it but morgryms god is Grundinnar, dwarven god of peace more or less, its from the inner sea gods book, he isnt a major diety but erybody needs a paladin or 2 right? or in this case a stonelord cuz dwarves rule

Alias up

Submissions so far:

Submitting Ra'hl Rogarvia, a bastard Bard (eventually Dragon Disciple), who wishes the fools in Rostland and Issay would stop their petty squabbles and bow before their one true king.

Background:
Ra’hl was born a bastard child in New Stetven. His father sent him away and financially supported him through the care of a servant, Isabella, who became Ra’hl’s surrogate mother. When the vanishing occurred, Ra’hl was still too young to know what his birthright was, only that his family was gone. Upon coming of age and finding a book of his heritage, Ra’hl realized he was destined to be King of Brevoy. He sought out to claim his throne and was cast out, a laughingstock of New Stetven. Ra’hl cursed each of their names and their families and fled his home to become a warrior able to take his throne as Choral did all those many years ago.
Ra’hl moved to Rostland to find a swordsman he could learn from. The swordlords would not teach a man from outside Rostland. Ra’hl cursed the swordlords name and learned to train with a bastard sword instead from a master. A fitting weapon for what they called him.
Ra’hl has made a small name for himself in Rostland with minor adventures. He found he could inspire and rally those who fought with him, another sign he would be a good king. Ra'hl hears the turmoil in his country, and worse the talk of a Civil War. He wishes to set out on his first expedition. With rumors of adventure in the Stolen Lands, Ra’hl signs up. Taming the untamed wild would be a good first step for learning to tame this failing country.

Please consider the support of Avora Stonvein: Inquisitor (Preacher)

You cant have Exotic Weapon Prof (BS) At first level you have no bab.

My mistake, I'll have it adjusted today.

I rebuilt Ra'hl as a Bloodrager (eventually going to be a dragon disciple) minor modifications to his backstory as well.

My next selection is Durielle Omenstar, feel free to join in discussion.

Congratulations.

I know that I'm taking 6 for certain based solely off submission count, but I am leaning towards 8.

Anyone who has yet to get in a submission please try to get one in within the next 2 or 3 days. And anyone who has yet to properly format their sheets please do so.

the more the merrier, i hope i can be one of them but im sure ill get Morgrym here in someones game at some point

I've really grown fond of this character already xD got a real good stormshadow-like background for him, and it's always cool to play somebody with a dark past, plus itd be great to see him eventually atone and regain his monk class.
Hope I get selected...

I have not heard anything about my character, so I guess he is ok??

Hi Tomas,

I ask this only because the DM is graciously allowing those already selected to give input and providerecommendations for the remainder on the party.

Is there any information you can provide on the character's personality?

Is there a story reason for the Wayang Spell Hunter trait?

I would love some input on my sheet as well to improve my chances to be chosen.

I've made some tweaks to my sheet, and added a campaign trait that I had forgotten about. It is updated now.
I would also like some tips! :D

@Ra'hl: Character sheet looks good to me. You may want to consider a secondary weapon to your claws as you will only have the claws while you are in a bloodrage (currently 6 rnd/day).

@Liam: I do not see anything about background or personality on your sheet. Adding at least the background would be in your best interests.

Why do you say that? I see nothing in the book about it only working during rage.

All bloodline rage effects are only during the rage unless they specify otherwise.

If that is you're ruling I will rebuild, but I have reread my book twice now. I am not seeing anywhere in the bloodrager class where it states such a thing.

Claws (Su)

At 1st level, you grow claws while bloodraging. These claws are treated as natural weapons, allowing you to make two claw attacks as a full attack, using your full base attack bonus. These attacks deal 1d6 points of damage each (1d4 if you are Small) plus your Strength modifier. At 4th level, these claws are considered magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage resistance. At 8th level, the damage increases to 1d8 points (1d6 if you are Small). At 12th level, these claws becomeflaming weapons, which deal an additional 1d6 points of fire damage on a hit.

This is straight from the Pfsrd.

Typographical errors happen, but when they do you need to ask yourself is what I'm reading consistent with other instances of the same ability.

-Posted with Wayfinder

I found it in the book. The pfsrd is worded different than the actual book. I missed it in a later paragraph. I will be purchasing a bastard sword and add it immediately. Sorry, I hope I did not come across as argumentative.

No trouble, I tend to use the pfsrd whenever possible since they keep track of errata and faqs that the books obviously cannot.

Hi Talomyr

I have updated my character sheet to contain a description and personality section. I removed the Wayang Spell Hunter Trait. It was part of my character for a different game, and I thought I had changed all those traits.

Durielle accepts the sweet ale and murmurs her thanks.

A moment later a man dressed as a clerk from the charter office calls her name at the entrance of the tavern.

"Oh! My charter must be ready. Thank you again for the drink," she says with a smile. She coughs briefly but covers her mouth the edge of her sleeve.

When she has recovered she says, "May all of you find the success you desire."

Durielle gathers her belongings and makes her way out to follow the clerk.

@pinvendor u forgot me...

Ra'hl, which color of dragon did you pick? I would assume red and going with the whole Choral the Conquerer thing...

Yes, my heritage and blood are pure. In my blood courses the blood of a true red dragon, the same used to tame this land as my ancestor for which I am named.

@Liam Satori: Sorry about that. For some reason, I was thinking you were already in Talomyr's last update. I didn't check the "previous" list too closely and was only adding the ones I thought were new.

I have edited to include you now. :-)

So absolutely zero 3rd party material? I've been dying to play a Warlord in a Kingmaker campaign. Focus would be on Golden Lion and Scarlet Throne disciplines, and he would have ties to the Aldori and nobles of Brevoy.

Hey all.. what would add to the current party composition.. put your own arguments in to help the gm and players make their decisions.

I think Thessk would be great as a full healer is always useful and he is also able to ably assist (assist other) where needed with his whip and do damage as well.

Other Selections
Angor Yasok - CN Male Half-Orc Bard (Thundercaller)

Tomas von Achiel - CG Male Human Evoker

Aodhan Vere - LN Male Human Order of the Flame Cavilier (Gendarme)

Healing and able support
Bardic Support
Boom Support
Mobile front line combatant.

My choices so far... what do you all think?

morgrym gets really good at 5th level when he gets that earth elemental companion, really good at holding a line and hulk smashing stuff in my opinion

At this point its more the remaining persons are likely to have to fit a certain niche/ability and have an interesting character.

So Support/Arcane/Skillmonkey Are your best bets here.. and maybe a dedicated ranged Martial (as long as you beatface.. you dont have to be a full bab class) as currently we have none.

Tomas will be aiming for perfecting his magic missile ability. With 3 magic missiles at 1st level, cast at a 3rd level of ability, it gives him 6 missiles as well as his force missiles from being an evoker (+7 more missiles). So he will be a good ranged support character, as well as carrying a few extra utility spells (Area effect spells, like sleep). Plus, he will be willing to use hs prestidigitation spell to make everyone smell nice and have tasty food!! lol

Thats relative, he isnt really a ranged support because he relies on one spell that always hits and is completely negated by one spell and spell resistance. He is a spellcaster/blaster and that's about it. A ranged support would use a bow or some other type of ranged weapon/specialty. They would also lace feats in said specialty. Other than that yeah I expect Tomas to be fine he just wouldnt fill a ranged slot.

Pan is purely Support and Skill monkey.

Sovereign Court

Well Titian is a pure, more or less ranged char

Yes but Titian has no backstory, has half his setup for a gunslinger.

THAT is a legitimate reason.

I believe Aodhan is very appropriate for this particular campaign. There is already a Cav in the party, but I believe they are different enough to not step on each others toes.

I think Thessk is an interesting character, and a full healer is definitely a plus.

I also enjoy Carl Franz.

Tomas would be good for filling the arcane role. The lich thing is pretty cool. Also nobility which is neat.
