I'm giving PCGen a try. I'm playing with building a PFS Core Campaign character.
I can't find the traits in the "Character Traits Web Enhancement". The PCGen documentation suggests it should be there, but I haven't been able to find that document in the list of sources. Am I doing something stupid?

When I go there, I *only* see the traits from the Pathfiner Society GtOP. There are no other traits.
When I go to the "Select Sources" page, I cannot find the Traits Web Enhancement anywhere. I'm looking under the "Advanced" tab, and don't see it. I've tried putting "Trait" into Search, and there's nothing there.
I'm using version 6.04.01, which I just downloaded today. I also downloaded and installed the December 31 2014 Pathfinder data file update.

OK, digging a bit more I found it under "3.5e" rather than Pathfinder. (!!)
It won't let me select it, though, because I need "Core Rules" selected.
It looks like the Character Traits Web Enhancement doesn't work with pathfinder in PCGen, only with 3.5e! Any chance we can get this fixed? Or, is there a way to hack it ourselves?

My understanding, which is always subject to being wrong, is that when the Web Enhancement - Character Traits came out, it was for 3.5, not PFRPG, so that is why it is listed under 3.5.
I have cobbled up two files, one the "master" .pcc for CORE PFS, and one the traits .lst file for the web enhancement. Now, I will make them available with the following caveats:
1) You have to put it under your Custom data directory.
2) You WILL have to edit it to make sure it works for your PCGen setup.
I put it on Dropbox, and will leave it there for a week or so: Zip File

Excellent, thank you!
It did come out for 3.5e. And, for Pathfinder, there was sort of no point, because it was completely subsumed into the APG.
However, with the new PFS Core Campaign, the only allowed resources are the CRB, the PFSGtOP, and this web enhancement. So, all of a sudden, it becomes important for Pathfinder....

Yup, that is why I created a personal copy. I have been a home game DM for a very long time and have been thinking about getting into PFS, but the gazillion options always turned me off.
Now with CORE only, I may change my mind and DM just that.
Also, if you would like to make it official, open a Jira (jira.pcgen.org) and request it as a data freq and someone should work on it. We have a guy that does a lot of the PFS "thingies" (<- technical word here).

Character Traits Web Enhancement
Character Traits - Web Enhancement is the first link.
Additional Resources - Lists the ones that are valid for PFS play (for instance, adopted is not and rich parents are not. I have not looked over at the others.)

The problem with this Core PFS mode, as main our PFS monkey wrote on the JIRA ticket, is that characters can acquire chronicle sheets that allow them to take character options from outside the Core scope, which will require a wider list of sources to be loaded. However, if you load a source that has the chronicle item you need, this will bring in all the rest from that particular book and all its load prerequisites, which are still not allowed for the character. So, the problems with this PFS mode are more complex than it might originally seem. We are however working to see what can be done.

I'm new to PCGen and Pathfinder but needed to find a quick solution to this as I have a game fast approaching and don't want to hold my group back putting in traits later. What I did... If this is stepping on anyones toes please let me know...
For all instances of ******* replace with user name. Here goes.
Copy the file
C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\PCGen\PCGen60401\data\35e\paizo\web_enhancem ents\
Place it in
C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\PCGen\PCGen60401\data\pathfinder_pfs\paizo
Once you've done that go to
C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\PCGen\PCGen60401\data\pathfinder_pfs\paizo\w eb_enhancements\pathfinder_character_traits_web_enhancement
Open file pathfinder_character_traits.pcc in Notepad about 4 lines down you'll see GAMETYPE:35e replace 35e with Pathfinder and save the document.
This will allow you to open the web supplement along with the Core Rulebook and PFS stuff.
Now if you add Player Character Traits from the template section you will be able to pick traits as required.
Hope that helps. Hope I didn't break any rules doing so.
Colin
Edited for formatting, it seems to have stuck a couple of spaces in the pathname s which I can't find to edit. Also added final step. CM

Yeah, the whole "things from chronicle sheets" does make it complicated.
How hard would it be to add to the UI the ability to add a custom thing? That is, a wildcard feat/trait/item/etc. My understanding is that right now if you want to add something custom, you have to create and add a source file. If you made it possible for people to patch in custom things, that could become the "documented" way to handle things in the Core campaign that come off of chronicle sheets.

You can add the Chronicle sheets separately if you go to the Advanced tab when selecting sources. I've set mine now to cover Core, Guide to Organised Play, Web Supplement and Chronicle Sheets. Imported various characters and haven't noticed anything broken yet.
