Troublesome AC

Advice

Liberty's Edge

How do I get my AC lower? Starting as an agile Thief, my AC is way too high. Need it lower so I won't get hit so much starting out. All these feats raise AC!

Okay first you need to find who sold you this mix of 1E D&D and Pathfinder and get your money back.

No, high AC is good. The lower your AC, the more you're gonna get hit. We don't use THAC0 in Pathfinder.

Please tell me this is a THAC0 joke.

Safe to assume you are new to the system? In Pathfinder (and at least 3.5 D&D and beyond) the higher the AC the harder you are to hit.

Example, say your AC is 30. The enemy rolls a d20 and gets a 10. Their Base Attack Bonus is 5 and weapon bonus is +3, that combines to an 18. 18 is less than your AC of 30 which means the attack misses you.

Example the two, again your AC is 30. Enemy rolls and gets a 19. Base Attack Bonus is 8 and weapon bonus is +4. Total equals 31. That total is higher than your AC of 30 so you get hit.

I hope that helps.

There's nothing funny about THAC0!

No THAC0?! Thank you, Paizo!

WAUW! Really? This was changed back in 3.0 :P

My introduction to THAC0 was the Baldur's Gate series, and I always thought it was cool to reach negative numbers. Glad they changed it though; the 'modern' system is easier for new players to understand.

This is not a rules question.

Technically speaking correct, but there was clearly a rules confusion that needed to be rectified.

I mean this was so far out there that I litterally thought we were dealing with a troll (In which case I cast meteor swarm on its head).
