I have a question regarding the target of Aldern's obsession.
Here's the context--the player of the cleric he was obsessed with (a priestess of Shelyn with 16 CHA) left the campaign, and I've just taken a new player aboard. The new guy has brought a female Life Oracle with 18 CHA, and I'm phasing out the priestess in favour of the new arrival.
Would it be in character for Aldern to forget about the priestess and focus his attentions on the Oracle if the two met?

Has Aldern transformed yet? If he has, it might be better to transfer his obsession to a different character that he's already met, using one of the other obsession types, rather than trying to get him to meet a new character in his new state. Maybe he can blame the new character he picks for chasing away his first choice. The reason I suggest this is that it will play much better at the table if the *player* of the character picked has already encountered Aldern. If you pick the new person, and they have no history with him, the reveal is going to fall flat for them most likely.
If he hasn't transformed yet it should work fine.

Here's some context: it's a PbP game, and they're about 2/3rds of the way through Burnt Offerings. They're currently making arrangements to complete exploration of the Catacombs of Wrath (I moved them under Chopper's Isle instead of the Glassworks).
I'm also thinking along these lines: the party's monk made quite an impression during the goblin raid with his fighting skills. Would it make sense for Aldern to become obsessed with him instead?
Maybe as the one who stole the priestess from him...

The priestess accompanied the party into the Catacombs and was present for the encounter with Erylium. The wrathspawn in the catacombs, combined with the general evil atmosphere resulted in her losing her nerve. I'm planning on having her opt to stay at Sandpoint's cathedral to help Father Zantus. However, odds are Aldern's going to run into the party again and get pissy because one of them 'scared her away from him', so to speak.
