I am finally getting around to planning my mini crafting empire, and am struggling to find which crafting skills map to which attribute.
I assume that crafting skills are gated on attributes like combat skills, so I don't want any character needing to raise more than one attribute if possible (as I am gunning for flexibility, two crafts/refiners per character - so I'd like them to be keyed to the same stat).
Can anyone give me this info, or tell me where to find it? I had a hunt through the google drive and came up empty.

Here is how I paired up skills on the crafters and refiners of my little empire:
- Leatherworker(Dex)/Tailor(Dex)
- Sage(Per)/Mage(Per)/Dowser(Per) (All Per, unfortunately there is only 1 trade/refining skill that uses Pers) SO I have to go out with this character.
- Sawyer(Con)/Tanner(Con)
- Apothecary(Wis)/Iconographer(Wis)
- Weaver(Dex)/Bowyer(Dex)
- Smelter(Con)/Miner(Con)/Encumbrance(Con). Again, there are only 3 professions using Con, so either I had to give my Smelter another Con professions and have 2 of those, or pair Miner with him, which is a good fit off course. But it does mean I have to go out and adventure with him. :)
- Jeweler(Int)/Alchemist(Int)
- Armorsmith(Str)/Weaponsmith(Str)
- Engineer(Int)/Artificer(Int)
- Gemcutter(Dex)/Bowyer(Dex) Again, 5 professions using Dex so I had to pair one with something else. I decided to "double up" on Bowyer with him, since they need few recipes and it is easier to level up another Crafting profession then another Refiner (resource-wise). I also expect Bows to be always in demand.
All of the above pairings will allow you to get them to level 20, where only the Mage and Smelter will have to go out and Adventure.
If you get your +3 common and +3 uncommon achievements with both paired up professions, I think you will have enough crafting points to ride it out untill level 20 (maybe a few short). It is cheaper resource-wise to do the trick where you make +3 stuff from the level 0 recipes of other professions, but I like to get them these achievements anyway. :)
I have also tried, within the limits of the Ability, to make the smartest pairs in order to limit having to divide resources and refined goods between them, but that was hard.
So shared company storage will be *very* welcome. :)
I also intend to level up Scavenger(Wis) and Forester(Wis) on my Archer(Dex)/Cleric(Wis), so obviously that is going to take a loooong time. :) Especially since I already wasted a couple of days XP on some Mage skills.....it will be hard to let go of the Area Effect spells.....I am thinking it might be harder then when I stopped smoking.

I was under the impression that the Mage cantrips and spells were INT based. What am I missing that makes a Mage well suited for PER gathering/crafting?

Wow - that one sheet I didn't look at (assuming a quick reference to be a pared down selection of the whole data) was the one with what I was looking for. Thanks so much!
Looking at that - boy, my original plans would have had every character split into two dependencies. Oops. Luckily I only committed XP on only one character last night, I can salvage the situation. There doesn't seem to be very good pairings among the crafts I wanted access to though, so I may have to live with it.

Do you seriously have that many accounts Tyncale??
Also, why not put weaver with tailor? Save yourself some transfers of refined cloth.
I have 6 DT accounts, total of 12 twins, with the crafters/refiners each pairing up two professions.
Weaver/Tailor would have been a good combo, but there were a lot of other things that came into play too and this is sortoff what I came up with. So far I have not really regretted any of the pairings. I will not say that the pairings have been done with mathematical precision. :) But stuff like that it is convenient to have two craftskills on one character(no raw resources) also played a role. And there is a LOT of interdependency so there are several good combo's.
However once shared Company storage comes online all the hassle will be over, I hope. I hope that shared storage will be one of the selling points of the Smallholds.
I will buy that too, if they offer shared storage.
The cool thing about crafters in PFO is that they need relatively less effort if you can get your hands on the ingredients. And getting your hands on them is one of the things that I find cool in this game. AH's are pretty empty now, we do not have fast Travel or caravans yet, no gushers yet. No real transport going on yet. But that will change and it's this part of PFO that interests me the most. I do have 3 characters that need Adventuring(Miner/Smelter, Mage/Sage/Dowser and my real Main, but will mostly play the last one.
As for the investment: if the game becomes a success, then I am sure I will be able to sell these DT accounts for a good price if I do not feel like playing anymore(not expecting to get back all that I invested in game time off course).
If the game does not make it, then, oh wel. It was a good ride. And to be honest, I already made back my initial investment by selling 10 Adventurer rewards this week. And if the game is a blast then I have no problem putting 900 dollars in it each year (780 euros). So far so good!
So you know, this is still a pretty cheap hobby, I think.

It takes about 1.1 million XP to train a single craft to level 20. That is about 1.25 years of XP. So if you want to train up 5 professions to level 20 that would cost you 6,25 years of XP. Certainly possible if you are in it for the long haul. In the case of crafting and refining professions, there is no overlap in skills (you simply have to buy all 20 levels of the profession) so in this case it is a simple case of 5x 1,1 million xp.
But it is certainly possible. I am still frequently logging into Everquest and that game is 15 years old. :)
Savage, if you want to dabble with training costs, look at this calculator from Nightdrifter: Nightdrifters Calculator
That is the link to the thread where he puts the updates to it, and you can get it from there.
Once you installed it,click the tab "training" and you will be able to see what everything costs. More importantly, it can give you suggestions if you want to level up a certain Ability like Dex. Also very useful to see what kind of requirements and achievements you need before you can level a skil further. Huge amount of information under all the buttons and tabs.

In 650 days you can train train all five int based skills up to 13 which caps out T2. (You can then raise one to 20 by day 977.)
In 725 days you can have a single skill at 20 and two side skills at 13.
In 848 days you can train a single skill up to 20 and a second to 19.
If we figure that the majority of the economy will be T2 production and T3 will for the most part be luxury/vanity goods, I don't think any of those three training options is definitively better or worse than the others.

Those are definately options. I am undoubtedly putting too much focus on level 20. It looks like the "last" Bow that a Bowyer will make is indeed level 15: Veteran's Longbow. But there are several arrows and 2 more quivers above that, with the Master Quiver being a level 20 recipe.
Now I expect those arrows to do a bit more damage maybe,or damage to a very specific type of mob. Not sure if you can call that a Vanity item, but it certainly is not a must-have item. I am less sure about the Master Quiver: if this is only a better looking Quiver then the ones below it, then I think that kinda sucks. Not sure what Quivers will do but I expect the higher level ones will be able to hold more arrows. That is a pretty neat perk. But maybe they just have a few embroidered tassels over the previous one or some.....
Having said this, I am almost certain that I will not level up my paired professions like 8,8; and then 9,8; and then 9,9. I will pick and choose which one "goes first" in order to get the most out of a level up. Though because of the interdepencies I do not see them drift apart more then 2, maybe 3 levels.
