Best Things to do with Intimidation

Hey guys,

Looking for ideas on what's best to use intimidation for?

I have a fairly good intimidation built character (a fighter) with 18 points in intimidation.

Thoughts?


I like the enforcer feat with high crit chances. Then you can force baddies to run almost every turn and get a AoO when they run. (Pehaps trip them with the AoO:))
I plan to use this trick with my pummeling Brawler.
If you use pehaps a falchion you will ofcause need the mercyfull enchant on it but i think it is worth it.


Wasn't quite thinking in the sense of battle or any type of action like that, but more so story based actions (like you're in a town and you want something' type of thing?


Ohh sorry. Then it is important to remember that every day use of intimidate without the disarming threat deed is kind of a sure Way to become one og the bad guys in the eyes of the public.
Generally intimidate is Best if you also have some diplomacy that Way you Can force folks to be friendly and then ask favors:)

currently where we're going, being seen as 'one of the bad guys' isn't an issue... Like. We're currently trying to get to hell... hahaha We're going through towns we'll likely never see again... haha

Straight fighter you get the Corrigun Smash (or Enforcer) feat and a Cruel weapon. Every power attack you do on a foe effectively lowers all of their d20 rolls by -4 (first hit applies "shaken", second hit adds "sicken"). Get a high-crit weapon with Enforcer, since any crit actually makes them lose their next attack with no save. The 5 hp per foe dropped can be quite handy too.

Blade of Mercy + Enforcer is the best setup; if you are willing to follow Sarenrae AND your GM allows it. It allows Scimitars to do non-lethal (and 1 extra point of damage to boot).

If you don't mind the splash, thug changes "Shaken" to "Frightened" much of the time; effectively making each attack force opponents to run away. At this point you can actually start considering Dazzling Display to act as crowd control; eventually leading up to Violent Display (if you can befriend a were-tiger somehow) or Dreadful Carnage (at very high levels) to do this during full attacks.

If you dont Care about acting like a jerk and pehaps getting in to a few random figths with good guys it can give you free lodgings on your travel then.


It can be a way to make up for a lack of sense motive. ;)
Always possibility of a good cop / bad cop scenario. Depending on how you roll.
Can be useful if you want to make sure you're not overheard (general people avoid the party due to scariness).
Useful to announce your arrival in a big way, or to encourage people not to talk about said arrival, depending how you play it.


I think it depends on your style of intimidation. You could be a noble who constantly throws around his titles and influence. You could be a rogue who sharpens his fingernails with a +2 keen dagger and whispers. You could be a brash warrior who yells at things.

I played the last of these in a short-lived campaign once. Some gems:

* In combat I always laughed as I rolled my dice. It started to creep out the other players.
* If foes were obviously weaker (individually, if not collectively), I'd take one round to try to intimidate them, either for demoralize (shaken effect) or to get them to run away.
* Got in a bellowing match with some gnolls when nobody in the party spoke gnoll.
* "We need to travel. When does the next caravan leave town?" "Next week ... " "GRAAAAAWWWWRRR" "The next caravan leaves town now."
* "HALFLING!!! YOU WILL BE MY FOOTSTOOL!!!"
* "We require a cleric to help us heal the guild leader." "But ... but ... " "ROOOOOOOAAAARR!!!!" "Okay ... "

That's the type of thing I'm looking for! :D

BTW, I also have Cornugon, I get an additional 6 points for intimdate because of it :D


The weird part was that I became the party's go-to diplomat. My battlecry was "RRRAAAAAAAAARRR!!!" The rogue's battlecry was, "Our employer said to leave him alive!!!"

I really did play the guy with style as much as anything else:

* For obviously weaker opponents, I would sunder their weapons, then sunder their armor, then spend a round intimidating them.
* Situations involving the rich and powerful were comedy gold. The rogue would negotiate. The oracle would look at stuff. The magus would look mysterious. I'd go, "Where's the larder?" and come back with a huge cheesewheel.

A high Intimidate and low Cha is really fun if your GM is willing to play along.

Oh yes. I foresee fun times ahead...

Our group has taken a bit of a sick and twisted turn as of late...

Last session I was drugged, and lets say 'made love to' and I'm currently pregnant with twin werewolf offspring...

I'm following a vengeful god as well... hahaha

But yeah. I wanted more to do with intimidate other than in battle.

I've got the feat that gives me a free intimidate if I land an attack with power attack... haha


Does anybody know of a way to force an infatuation? Like a spell/potion etc? I was thinking love potion type thing... But it'd be too hard to make him drink it... hahahhaha

I have an online campain only DMPC who is literally only there for comedy effect.
He is the only one in the party that can read abyssal, because the tiefling picked infernal. Hes also a diabloist who has a pit fiend.
No, hes never participated in combat
Intimidate checks go like this

Diabloist: I highly doubt you want to arrest me, even if you are an inquisitor of iomeade

Inquisitor:You are still very much under arrest for constorting with fiends

Diabloist: No, I am not.

*pit fiend appears, roars and smashes a cottage to rubble*

inquisitor:you are correct, you are not under arrest.


Get an enemy to zero hp, demoralize him, punch him, heal him, demoralize him, set him on fire, heal him, demoralize him, feed him, KO him, then leave.
