Playground Adventures looking for mini-adventure writers!

Project Length:Up to 1,800 words
Pay Rate: $30 per adventure
Email to: jgray@playgroundadventures.net
Additional details:
We are looking for child friendly adventures that can be played in 1-2 hours on average after school for children 12 and under (what we call our After School Adventures line). Word count between 1,000 and 1,800 words.

We currently have two lines of After School Adventures we are actively hiring for, one is normal adventures the other is for educational adventures both are for the Pathfinder RPG. Noramal adventures are just for fun but educational adventures must educate and do so best by showing instead of telling.

Send a pitch before you write your adventure to save time on both sides. Pitches for an adventure shorts this size really shouldn't be more than a paragraph or so. Pl

ease don't send more than 5 pitches at a time.

Payment is $30 per adventure. Adventures do not need to have maps, but if they do we will need a rough draft so we can send it to our cartographer. It doesn't have to be pretty just serviceable so we know what goes where.

Respond by: Currently an open call.

P.S. Bardess, you should pitch me an adventure about dinosaurs.

Sent in a couple of pitches! I absolutely love kaiju so being able to work on such a project would be awesome (and buying a copy eventually even if I don't get in would be awesome too)!

And uh, not to toot my own horn or anything, but my roommate owns just about every Godzilla and Gamera film ever made, so I can do LOTS of research. :D

Thanks Owenstreetpress, and great pitches! We've got a lot of good ones coming in, and I hope to make this Colossal book as Colossal as possible.

If you've got an idea and know how to write monsters, don't be afraid to shoot me a pitch or three! zenithgames.blog@gmail.com

Shinobi 27 Games is looking to commission a Pathfinder enthusiast to convert a DCC adventure or two to Pathfinder. The adventures are written and published already for DCC but we want to try our hands at Pathfinder. $30 and copy of the adventure at cost up for grabs for the task of swapping monster and rule stats. I can be reached at shinobi27@yahoo.com for those interested.

Elton Robb Games looking for writers who are also Atlanteologists.

Project Length: 1 chapter each.
Pay Rate: 3 cents per word.
Additional details: Atlantis is my magnum opus, my great work. While Phaeselis took years to write, Atlantis has been stewing in my brain for a long time. I need help with classes, flavor, and suggested campaigns. The main campaign is one involving time travel, where the PCs are high school students sent back in time to 10,500 BC. Other campaigns can be based off of the usual comic book representation; and a modern campaign where Atlantis is a 3rd World nation.

I expect writers to do their research. Start with GURPS: Atlantis (only $7.99 from Warehouse 23), Plato's Timaeus and Critias, and Ignatius Donnelly's work. Above Top Secret forums is also a place to go. Please stay away from the Minoan Hypothesis. Also look around the web.

The default campaign is Science Fiction with some Fantasy mixed in. Mecha that can transform, wizards that practice high sorcery, skyscrapers, pyramids! Several anthropomorphic races! True Love!

I'm not sure it is, but I do feel there should be an easier way to find potential artists for RPG products than trying to track them down thru Behance or DeviantArt.

One thing you could do, at the very least, is have a link to your online portfolio in your profile for interested publishers to peruse.

I have seen, I think, someone looking for editing work make a thread here, but I personally found it distasteful. Not sure why. Possibly because I'm a grumpy old wolf.

I have seen, I think, someone looking for editing work make a thread here, but I personally found it distasteful. Not sure why. Possibly because I'm a grumpy old wolf.

Limited things to say, don't want to clutter this thread, but here's some thoughts

Spoiler:
I suspect it's a matter of (quite possibly misplaced, but I feel the same way) professionalism.

A professional editor/artist/writer "should" apply for jobs. A professional anyone "should not" "beg" for work. The jobs are created by the company, who makes known that they are available, and the professional undertakes to apply to the company for the opportunity to do the work.

That's the "way it works". Which I suspect is the source of your and my discomfort with respect to people posting or making threads which effectively say "hire me" - it's the "wrong way round".

Now, whether it should actually be that way or not is a whole different discussion, and I can't help but feel that it's a very "20th Century" way of seeing the world, but I agree that this thread (which is basically a "positions vacant" thread) isn't the place for people hoping to fill positions to make themselves known.

Sorry, but this is a very misplaced way of thinking about professionalism. Publicly offering own services is not "begging". Of course the way the services are offered matters greatly, it's easy to accidentally present oneself in bad light.

Quote:
The jobs are created by the company, who makes known that they are available, and the professional undertakes to apply to the company for the opportunity to do the work.

Here's the problem - it's not accurate picture of the "way it works" in this business. Yes, companies usually do operate that way but this is not the only way it works - from time to time companies also initiate contact with the artist/writer basing it on their knowledge of the artist/writer existence/quality instead of or in addition to asking for applications.
