Help! Core mystic theurge advice!

Advice

The Exchange

PFS has a core campaign option and I've not played a mystic theurge before! Its time to make one (oh my, I must be a sucker for punishment)! Yes, I know, I've looked briefly at angry wiggles mt guide, there will be no early lv 4 entry into mt, no magical knack...its less then optimal..but hey, isn't everything part of a great adventure?

Rp advice:

I want to worship Callistra, but wish to downplay the lust side, and play more on the revenge and maybe even trickery aspect of her. Is it appropriate to have my home burnt down by goblibs and go hunting them the way Maiev hunts demons in Warcraft 3? What would be appropriate with regard to trickery?

Crunch wise:
Elf
10 str
12 dex (after racials)
12 con (after racials)
18 int (after racials)
14 wis
10 cha

I dont want to dump stat, thanks.

Ill be doing 3 wizard/1 cleric entry into mt. I am thinking of divination school to improve initiative. Forbidden schools enchantment and necromancy(might need evocation for the odd swarm around). Will probably take improved initiative at lv 1, toss up between arcane bond or familiar. Domains will be luck and trickery.

Do you think its workable, and any ways to improve? Thanks.

Well, you already know that all the better options available in the wider game are not available and your character isn't going to be anything which would get a powergamer hot and bothered.

And you not wanting to dump stats limits you further.

Given all that, the character seems reasonable. Except that you seem obsessed with getting a high initiative. While that is nice, your character is going to be cowering in the center of the party behind physically tougher people, that is almost anybody. So I would not make good initiative a priority. Just make yourself better at casting spells, the one thing you are good at.

Oh my it does after all. He early entries in 1 level late than options in non-core. He is effectively a sorcerer with 8 levels of cleric. As I said in another thread this one of the single strongest options in core.

Do you not take magical knack because you don't want it? It is from Character Traits Web Enhancement. Magical Lineage is legal as well if you want that.

Other than that it looks like since your stats are locked in you're good to go.

I will take magical knack and reactionary. I did not know magical knack was available, being unable to read the Character Traits web enhancement (was creating character from phone). And d20pfsrd.com said magical knack was from APG.

My obsession with initiative:
Reason being this character is going to play almost like a wizard, except with 1 less level of spell casting, and ability to use divine scrolls. In treantmonk's wizard guide, a battlefield controller should always start first, to lay down the control.

In core, even more so. There is no reach breath of life, or reach cure spells. No communal resist energy to prevent nasty dragons from breathing down on you. Even more then ever you need to prevent damage before it actually happens.

And with the point buy(can't afford more dex), even with reactionary, I am only at a +3 init. A basic reach weapon user will have a +4 (+2 from reactionary, +2 from dex).

As a mystic theurge, if you have a familiar, can you use your familiar to deliver cleric touch spells(ie. cures?)

The Exchange

The ability only cares if the spell is touch so yes it can deliver divine spells from your cleric list.

Silver Crusade

Unless they've changed things, Magical Knack is not PFS legal.

The Exchange

Yes things have changed since 2 years ago when it was legalized.

Silver Crusade

Good to know.
