I have a Pit Fiend Wizard NPC in a game right now and wondering if anything stops him from using Summon Monster to call up Angels?

Does this mean I can order it to perform tasks against its nature? For example getting the angel to perform aggressively evil tasks? Or even getting it to attack other angels 'to the best of its ability'?

Absolutlely. A good wizard can summon a demon and order it to save kids in a burning orphanage. An evil wizard can order angels to burn the orphanage with everyone inside. An evil wizard can only not summon celestial template creatures, they all turn out fiendish automatically. Nothing in the spell prevents him from summoning the subtype good creatures though.

As a house rule you might have him not be able to summon [Good] creatures due to the [good] subtype of the angel summoning spells and his inherent [Evil] subtype and nature, but that is not something required by the RAW.

Summon Monsters will follow your commands no matter what.

Incorrect, summoned monster will only follow commands if you can speak to them. If the summon only speaks celestial and you do not then it will attack your enemies to the best of its abilities but you cannot give it actual direction.

Also, in the event of summoning angels to commit evil acts, you should probably expect actual angels to visit you and "dicuss" what you're doing. While there may be nothing preventing you from doing it, the heavens wont like it and don't have to allow you to continue to live.
