Forum Move

Hello,

Given that the official blog discussions, other dev talk has moved over to the GW forums, and Lisa referring to these forums in a recent announcement to Paizo fans, I suggest making the migration a bit more final.

I would hate for new/interested folks to be looking in this forum and wonder where the hot topics were, or where the devs were interacting with the fans, etc, etc.

I'll start using the GW forums once it can remember that I am logged in for more than a day, and/or there is an easily accessible login button on the forum index. Having to browse to a different page on the site to login, then go BACK to the forum to post is terrible.

The UX for the GW forum is just not good enough for me to bother as yet. In its current state, if I go, it'll be kicking and screaming.

I've shifted to putting things I want DEVS to look at in the GW forums.

Things I want to crowdforge before involving devs I post here because this is still where the people are.

I post casually from work.

This forum gives an easier indicator of what threads there are new replies in and how many people have posted since I last looked.

Thanks for the heads up :)

I tries to go there but I always end up here, because here we have like PM and "remember me" like...y'now....

If they really want to migrate forums they need to put these forums in read only/archive mode.

I can't give up the PM function here. Also, I like seeing the post originator and last poster/time of last post. Spoiled, I suppose, but there you have it!

I concur with everything that has been said here, and more! The ball is in GW's court, basically, I am just pointing out one potential issue.

What would be good if this forum ended up a Pathfinder Society in PFO place.

My thoughts on the current forum setup.

When avatars are instated, so will be I.

One point to note - sometime in the past few days, the GW forum now DOES seem to be holding sessions for a reasonable length of time. My work PC has stayed logged in on the GW website for the third day running.

And as a result, I am actively reading it.

Also, I don't know if this is new or I had simply never seen it before, but there is a link at the bottom to a 'latest' page that provides a Paizo-style list of recently active threads.

For me, there are two big things missing in terms of functionality:

- Viewing a thread always starts you at the beginning, rather than at the first new post. I follow the GW forums a little, but if this were implemented I would follow them a lot more.

- The forum is not mobile friendly. Detecting a mobile browser is easy, and limiting the width of the post is also easy. I hate having to zoom out to the point where the text is so small I have to strain to read it, but that's still better than constantly moving left and right like a typewriter trying to read a post.

There is a white arrow next to eact thread, click on it and it will take you to the most recent post on that thread.

Awesome, thanks, I must have missed that. That's exactly what I was looking for.
