Templates & Tieflings

Rules Questions

The Half-Fiend template says that it can be inherited/acquired by a living corporeal creature with an Int of 4 or more. It also says that they are heavily tainted by demonic/infernal/other evil.
Tieflings are (humans?) with demonic/devilish/evil outsider blood in their ancestry.
My question is this: Is it possible to have a Half-Fiend (or even Fiendish) Tiefling, or is that redundant?

On a side note, if Tieflings really are humans with fiend-tainted blood, then the closest that Elves, Half-Orcs, Dwarves, etc. can get is Half-Fiend or Fiendish?

This probably applies to Aasimars as well...wait, can you have a Half-Fiend Aasimar or a Half-Celestial Tiefling?

Certainly possible. Templates can get more hilarious than that even; strictly speaking you can half a Half-Celestial half-Dragon Ogrekin Tiefling. Have fun puzzling that family tree out.

Generally, yes, Humanoid + Fiend = Tiefling and nonhumanoid + Fiend = Half-Fiend. But there's more than one way to skin a cat, and if you really want a Half-Fiend Elf and can fit it into the story, who are we to stop you?

Well, isn't half-fiend elf all you can do? I mean Tiefilings and Aasimar are specifically said to be human.

Oh, another template question: Vampire+Lycanthrope? (Werepyre)
Also, Lycanthropes only have animals, correct? You can't be a weregargoyle?

Finally, do you have to use everything from the templates? What if I don't want my Half-Fiend Dhampir or Half-Dragon Human to have wings? (of fly in general as the HF template says nothing about having wings, just that it can fly)

Werepyre is legit, but they need to be a werewolf first because undeadnare immune to disease.

Yes, lycanthropes must be animals. Any animal is fair game though, dependent on the size of the base humanoid.

Yes, you have to use every bit of the template.

Wait...
Humans are a part of the animal kingdom, so logically other humanoids would be too...
And monstrous humanoids are, well, 'monstrous' humanoids...
So logically, a Harpy should be capable of contracting Lycanthropy from a Gargoyle, thus being a Harpy during the day and a Gargoyle at night!

Now if I can just give him the Change Shape spell-like ability so that he can have a human form as well...

No. That is not how Types work.

I once made Pinky and the Brain. A half dragon (red) white dragon and his wizard friend. Half dragon only requires living and corporeal. Templates are weird. Especially if a writer forgets to include certain keywords.

Zombie wrote:
“Zombie” is an acquired template that can be added to any corporeal creature (other than an undead), referred to hereafter as the base creature.

Did you know about the golem zombies? Because they can exist.
