Unimpressed that my first post to the forum was removed

I am very unimpressed. I posted in the Bank Camper thread yesterday, and today the post has been removed, stating :
"Removed a series of posts that are just stirring up drama and locking."

My post was neither inflammatory, insulting, nor stirring up drama - and did not target or mention any other post. I raised a valid point, which I will now state again (paraphrased this time):

Many newbies in starter settlements will have red names as a result of hitting them self when weapon switching accidentally when trying to heal - as I myself have done several times. Therefore assuming a person with a red name in a starter town is a player killer is incorrect, they are more likely to be a newbie learning the game.

It is better off not attacking anyone in the starter settlements if you do not wish to disrupt a new player.

Note that Paizo not Goblinworks moderates this forum. Also note that this is not the official PFO forum, and GW staff post and read here randomly rather than reliably.

The moderators locked a few threads and deleted quite a few posts yesterday. One of my own threads was locked because
a) it was mocking another thread (though I felt it started off all in good fun)
and
b) it spun completely out of control (which of course reinforces the moderator's point that I shouldn't have even started it).

Lesson learned. They were right, I was wrong, I'll show more discretion in the future.

They had a lot to deal with yesterday, and after Ryan's words about not wanting to see PvP in NPC settlements, they obviously felt that was all that needed to be said about the topic.

They often delete messages if you quote part of a message that was removed, even if your own message is fine. It's irritating.

Valid point. Thanks for re-posting it.

I understand what you say about locking threads @Midnight - but why delete valid posts made before they lock it? All they have done is upset a valid poster.

@Caldeathe - I did not reference or copy any part of any post.

They usually erase all they way back to where the objectionable starts, then lock it.

If you quote a part of a post that is causing trouble/breaks forums guidelines, your post will usually be deleted also, even if it is perfectly reasonable and appropriate.

Moderators can "roll back" conversation to a previous thread point that does not break the community guidelines.

Ah, now I understand - I was collateral damage!

I'll head back to the other forums I think!

I would encourage you to consider the hassle the moderators have to go through dealing with this stuff, and not expect them to spend lots of time poring over every post before doing a bunch of deletes once a thread gets locked. Yes, they make mistakes, and they've even restored some posts in the past, but I would encourage you not to take the fact that your post was deleted as a direct statement that you posted something wrong - although it's always good to ask yourself if you did.

So if you use your staff/spell to say " run faster " in town, does that switch you over to RED name pvp alert?

Nope. It does no damage, isn't counted as attacking yourself, doesn't lower your reputation, and doesn't turn your name red.

You can also appeal the removal of your post to the named moderator who did the clean-up. We've seen instances where posts accidentally swept up have been replaced upon bringing them to the mods' attention.
