Miniature Storage?

Miniatures

I'm going to be buying my first miniatures ever when I begin to pick up the Iconic Heroes Sets. I'm buying them for the card game. I'm trying to figure out what I can store them in, but I don't have a good grasp of miniature terminology making it hard to understand sizes and measurements and what not. (I see things like 25mm, average, large, very large, etc and have no idea what those mean.)

If I wanted to store all 31 of the Iconic Heroes miniatures in something that I could move from place to play, what should I be looking for? Would any of these work?

Chessex Figure Storage Box (Are the different counts just because the cutouts are sized different and smaller cutout means more slots?)
Chessex Figure Carrying Case (Cut) (Are these the right size slots?)
Chessex Figure Carrying Case (Uncut) (I'm decently handy and assume if the other two don't work I can cut this out myself, but how many would I fit?)

Or are there other things I'm not seeing? I'm optimistic (though with out any empirical reason to be so) that the Iconic Heroes line will sell well enough that they might do the other characters in the class decks, so I don't mind having something with a bit of extra space, but I'll probably never need more than 7 at a time, so multiple boxes isn't a problem either. But I'm just really confused as to whether the slots for each miniature are the right size or not.

Thanks for any info or advice anyone can give me, I'm totally lost here.

Actually, you might want to just consider heading to the outdoors store and checking out some of the larger fishing tackle boxes, which tend to have different size compartments and drawers and so on. Pick up something at the craft store to line the compartments with and cut to size and you'll probably both save yourself some money and also get to pick a storage solution that matches your needs more closely than the specialized miniature storage solutions available.

As for me, with prepainted plastic minis I just throw them in labelled resealable sandwich bags (Goblins, Undead, Human PCs, etc) if they're medium or small sized and tote everything around in a plastic tool box.

Hmmm... Interesting idea. So, how tall should I expect these figures to be? I'm wondering if something like this might fit the bill.

Sovereign Court

Just go with the Tupperware containers. They're pretty hardy minis.

The Exchange

Plastic tool and screw/nail organizers work really well and you can label the chambers with sharpies to tell what minis are where without having to root around. Any soft foam can serve to cushion and line the box to keep metal minis from being damaged.
The best part.....they are cheap and they come in a huge variety of sizes and configurations so they can meet whatever need you have.
Lowes or Home Depot. Good luck.

I went with a Plano tackle box that carries a set of 4 removable trays; you can get extra trays and swap out to carry only what you need to if you end up with a large enough collection.
