Question about chronicle items

What happens if I find a ioun stone in a chronicle sheet and buy a wayfinder and put it in?
Since I don't own Seeker of secrets I can't buy neither the wayfinder nor the Ioun Stone and won't resonate?

Unless it's an item with the statblock actually on the chronicle, you need to possess the relevant Additional Resource to make use of any non-core item rules.

In this case the Wayfinder is core (it's in the Guide to PFS Organised Play) so you can definitely buy it; the ioun stone may also be core (some of them are in the CRB). But without the relevant rules (e.g. from Seekers of Secrets) to show the GM, you can't take advantage of the resonant powers.

That stings... actually reminded me of micro-payment games, good to know, then I'll keep myself with APG and core then.
PD: That means that if I have a boon race I can't play it without ARG? It It's like that it sucks =/
Why do they give away some boons that you can't use except if you pay for them?

It's to make sure that someone at the table actually has responsibility for providing a reliable source for the rules being used. The alternatives are people showing up with some rules in a printed Word document (with no clue as to their origin), or trying to access the PRD through the venue's dodgy wifi, or simply trying to remember the rules - not ideal.

You can play the core game without paying anything beyond the corerule book. If you want to use options from other published materials, you need to own those published materials... No surprise, nothing hidden, it's been that way since season one at least...

They give away race boons because LOTS of people have requested the ability to play non-core races.

Also, just because a race appears in the ARG, it's not necessarily the only rules source. For example, the rules for creating Kitsune characters are printed in multiple books, including the Dragon Empires Gazetteer and the Dragon Empires Primer.

+1 on this. Most races are detailed in at least two books (usually a Bestiary or the CRB as well as the ARG) and often in three or more, depending on the race.
