Ever wonder what makes a weapon "light" or not?

Just going over some of the stats regarding weight and damage and it has me wondering why clubs and short spears are not considered light....anyone come across any logic behind this? My finesse build wants to know!

"light" does not have to do simply with weight but with balance and ease of use as well. A short sword is light because of the way it is used. Wrist strength is sufficient to use the blade to inflict damage. Your club requires arm, back, and leg muscles to use correctly.
