Monster hunter suggestions

Advice

Hey all trying to make a monster hunter type, was gonna do a inquisitor but was curious what else is a good fit. I know ranger is the original but too specified for my tastes

Slayer is another option that works very well. Phrenic Slayer from Dreamscarred Press is also good if you want a psionic option. If you are only after evil monsters, you can't go wrong with a paladin either.

Of course it all depends on what you want - a specific monster slayer, or a general "I kill monsters" type. For the latter you just need any character able to dish out a lot of hurt and take a lot of hits (Barbarian with superstition works very well). For the former, you ideally want a class with favoured enemy or a similar ability to help them against that specific foe.

Inquisitor works, but is a little too general and their various judgements don't so much give them an advantage as make up for the fact they aren't a full BAB class. Really the inquisitor is more of a divine skills-monkey than a combat class, although he can fight reasonably well.

Ranger and Slayer are probably the top two for specific monster hunting.

Phrenic Slayer is (from what I recall) something between ranger and inquisitor in effect.

Paladin works well if you are hunting evil in all it's guises, and bridges nicely between the specific and non-specific monster hunter.

I would say go with Kirin. :P

Slayer is an interesting fit for a hunter of any kind, monster or bounty.

Slayer is good in general for that, but don't underestimate Inquisitor's Bane ability. Bane + Judgements + Spells definitely make up for the 3/4 BAB.

Was thinking of going the sanctified slayer inquisitor...I give up judgement but with the target and sneak attack it might be worth it (really want to try two weapon fighting) Doing half orc not sure what ill take at level 3 maybe something combat related or might break down for improved monster lore (even with all those skill points i feel like im falling short)
