I'm working on a new character for a new campaign, and one of the overarching goals of this roguelike character is, basically, making enough money to "go legit" and retire to the equivalent of a Park Avenue condominium or Kensington flat.
... just like hundreds of kleptocratic Eastern Bloc zillionaires in the real world, of course.
So my question to the Pathfinder Geographers.... where's the best spot for a former adventurer to give it up and live in luxury? Some spots that don't qualify (IMHO):
* Kalsgard. Too darn cold; might as well retire to a Helsinki beach resort
* Pangolais. Scary sinister government that's likely to get one killed on a whim. Might as well retire to North Korea.
* Kerse. Fanatical theocracy. Too many real-world examples to number, none of which sound nice.
* Mechitar. A country of Gothic necromancers? Too hard to find a date.
So what's the Golarion equivalent of retiring to the Cote d'Azur?

The capitals of Qadira, Taldor, Andoran and Osirion all seem like stable places to live. (Cheliax, of the 'big five,' less so, because of the secret police and whatnot...)
Various other cities in Taldor, especially, seem pretty well 'tamed' and 'safe.' (Which is probably why that country sees so little development, as it's kind of dull, by adventurer standards, like Sembia, in the Forgotten Realms.)
Druma could be an ideal retirement community for the extra-wealthy, as it seems the land of 'he who has the gold, makes the rules,' and the Kalistocracy is pretty tame, as 'theocracies' go, since they don't even have a church or a god.
Absalom seems risky. I'm not sure I'd want to retire to a town that occasionally pumps out brand new gods, and attracts the sort of people who would find that tempting, to the point that it's surrounded by abandoned siege keeps of all the people who've tried to conquer it over the centuries... Even if none of them succeeded, it must put a cramp on one's strict regimen of fancy dress balls and all-you-can-eat high-society soirees to have one's city under siege by armies of constructs or whatever. Plus, have you seen those prices in Guide to Absalom? Better have a demiplane of endless gold to afford those monthly upkeep costs!

Don't forget to stop off in Thuvia on the way - you need to get the Sun Orchid Elixir before enjoying your retirement!
I'd vote for Almas or Katapesh, depending on inclination, or possibly the Qadiran capital. (This business of that oversized beetle shell in Sothis makes me ... uneasy ... so I'm ruling out that city.)
