A personal appeal on behalf of my cousin

Off-Topic Discussions

One of my cousins, the oldest son of my mom’s twin sister, was diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer on December 15th; ten days later he had a heart attack. The cancer is inoperable but he has now started radiation and will shortly begin chemo. He and his wife are having trouble with their insurance covering parts of the treatment and his sister-in-law has started a GoFundMe page to help them raise money. So far they’ve raised $850 of a needed $50,000.

If you can't send money, send prayers; if you don't pray, please send well wishes, positive vibes or whatever feels right.

Thanks.

Bump.

Crickets chirping for a week now, but I thought one more shot wouldn't hurt, especially as today will be payday for many. Donations are to $1,415 so there's still a long way to go to reach $50,000.

Thanks for your time and attention.

Can't give right now, but I did share this on Facebook. Will talk to my wife and see if we can't figure something out. The community here helped out my family immensely when my daughter was born a few months ago, it only feels right to help how I can.

Thanks very much for passing it on via Facebook. I realize not everyone can help, so the more people who see it, the better.

Gave what would could afford. Best wishes to your cousin!

I will see what I can give at the end of the week.

Update: over the course of the past two months, Mark --

* was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer
* had a heart attack
* contracted pneumonia
* suffered a mild stroke
* developed two blood clots (one in the heart, one in the main pulmonary artery)

At the time of his cancer diagnosis in December he was given 2-3 months to live without treatment. Since then he's had two radiation treatments, and had a single chemo treatment; all the crap with the pneumonia and blood clots left him too weak for more. Since a half dozen of each (radiation and chemo) would be more typical, it's almost like he hasn't had any, so he likely has a matter of weeks to live.

:(

Thanks to everyone who gave, sent well-wishes, or even took the time to read this thread.

I'm so sorry for this.

My family has had their own struggle with various things you've listed, and, even when things go well, it is never, never easy; I can't imagine how hard it must be to go through all at once.

I am praying for him and his family.

Damn. I am sorry. This is awful.

You have my deepest sympathy. In the last five years I have had two friends passed away in very similar ways. It is very tough to go through. I'll pray for your cousin and his family.
