Real World physics does not always need to confer to your world.

I ran a world once where there was no sun, and had not been for 1000 years (The long term goal was to rescue the soul of Pelor from the Abyss and return the sun). People became nocturnal and were up and did their work by moonlight. A player said how can the moon have light if there is no sun. I said the moon (and the goddess of the moon) creates it's own light, it is NOT just a reflection of the sun.

Definitely. I've often wanted to run a game in which the myths of cosmology were true.

The Sun is in fact a goddess riding in a glowing chariot over the world. The Moon is a god pursuing her, but easily distracted, so he doesn't keep the same daily schedule and burns himself when he gets too close.

Another thing that gets overlooked for hollow worlds: air conditioning. Heat from the pseudo-star is going to build up fast (too much even for a jungle) unless you also provide something like Shadow Squares with a connection to the Negative Material Plane.
This is true, but like a lot of "actual science" is something I'll probably overlook in favor of just pure fantasy.

You can do that, but it's sort of a missed opportunity: If you have Shadow Squares that have a connection to the Negative Material Plane providing the required air conditioning, then you can't shut down the source of power for Undead and other similar nasty things for very long without broiling everything.
