Where do you reside?

Pathfinder Online

I have been exploring and trying to look around for populated areas. I made my great journey to Thornkeep hoping to see other people, but to my disappointment I could find no one.

Where are you currently residing? Does anybody have any tips as to where I could venture to find a more populated settlement?

My group resides in Aragon, not far from Thorn Keep, and next to the stater settlement of Marchmont.

Aragon is a Rogue / Fighter settlement and home to the Argonian Council (Settlement Management) and soon, the UnNamed Company; the Grim Maw Clan; The Lions Council; the Rats of Hanspur; and the Alegiant Gemstone Company.

I have just started in Ossian's Crossing. I've seen 3 or 4 other players here. Was planning on making the run to Thornkeep myself soon, but I might wait a bit if there's no one around yet.

This is kind of funny. They made the NPC starter towns to keep Thornkeep from being overpopulated too soon but now no one is in Thornkeep because it sounds like no one starts there.

Keeper's Pass already has a respectable population from what I can tell. Been on and off since the launch and the area map is rarely without a pin from someone close.

Meanwhile I more or less seem to have the southwest to myself, though this is partially a facet of when I play!

I just logged in and have managed to find two others in Thornkeep, however I may venture down to Keeper's Pass if it is more populated.

6 people marked this as a favorite.

It seems that after one day, the majority of players are heading out to their player run settlements. This is especially true if they played a lot in Alpha and know the ins and outs of the game system.

In the future, we will do away with the starter towns and new players will start in Thornkeep, Fort Inevitable, or Fort Riverwatch. Fort Inevitable is on the map right now, but hasn't been built yet. Fort Riverwatch is in the Northwest corner of the River Kingdoms and isn't on the map yet. Once we get Fort Inevitable into the game, we may very well turn off the starter NPC towns and just use those two as the starter towns until we Riverwatch is added as the third once the map expands.

Golgotha has had a lot of activity. We have been doing quite a bit of organized stuff.

I'm playing the evening on continental europe time and the last two nights, in more than 4 hours, in and around TK, I have only met two dwarves and an elf.

I should try to go to RiverBank, but it is very far and i fear that most, if not all, of my potential french guild mates have decided not to play PFO.

They clearly expected something more graphical and more story driven.

I was one of those dwarves Vincent!
I've been spending my time patrolling the loop from Forgeholm to Thornkeep to Blackfeather since my primary role I chose my Settlement doesn't support currently. :P
I've chosen to try to make a Ranger type build and to gather so I spend a lot of time traveling to all the different trainers I have to see fairly regularly!

Goblin Squad Member

Phaeros has been busy enough that I can only imagine how crowded things might feel in Brighthaven.

Goblin Squad Member

Man I'd love to have that problem. With all that traveling I've been doing the only time I've see any other players was in Thornkeep. No one on the roads north at all.

In the North, Rathglen has developed a decent population. I've been making forays into the mountains to the NE for resources and occasionally see folks up there. It's been nice running into a fair many outside my settlement affiliation that I've met in alpha.

The Kindleburn/Brighthaven/Keeper's Pass area has been nicely populated. There's nearly always someone hanging around a bank, even if the majority of us are in nearby hexes doing our things.

It does seem the Southeast is filling out nicely. I'll be making the Keeper's Pass/KindleBurn/Thornkeep journey on a regular basis to help out new folks, carry trade goods, etc. So, if you ever see "Erian" pop up on your map give me a shout. And if you have some trade needs, I'm happy to make other trips to carry goods (regardless of distance, but of course with an eye to a bit of fair profit).

I tried moving from Rathglen up to Tavernhold, but I didn't find anyone there. For now, I'm basing my characters out of Talonguard, which seems to be developing a population. (Translation: I saw three other characters there.)

With the difficulty in transferring goods between characters on a single account, I expect to see a lot of people in the middling to small settlements clustering in crafting towns day to day. When one of your characters puts items up for sale in the Auction House and your other character logs in to buy them, it's possible for another buyer to scoop them up, but I've only 'lost' one item that way so far.

So far since Thursday, there's often 5-6 people around the bank in Rathglen at any time. About 3-4 in each quadrant. At least one person at each entry killing goblins. So about 20 or so, but some of them are afk (or thinking hard about which feat to buy, item to craft, or just chatting, hard to tell). Kabal members are roaming primarily around Rathglen and Stoneroot Glade, but you can find us anywhere.

I'll definitely be passing through Stoneroot Glade on a regular basis, since one of my characters is training Rogue skills.

Currently in Rathglenn, setting up my crafters and refiners and hoping to relocate to Callambea(Crafting settlement) soon which is pretty close.

Rathglenn is nicely located near Highland, Woodland and some Cropland hexes and pretty close to Mountains too. So for now it suits me well.

Rathglen to Talonguard does seem pretty populated. I've seen many forum-familiar faces in that area. I'll be putting down roots in the southern Mosswater Road area, Talonguard to Terra Firma...or at least that's the plan for now.

Brighthaven has a few people there, but TEO is basing out of Keeper's and Kindleburn for the first couple weeks.

We have had around 30-40 people around right now, plus the population of KotC, and all the people coming in and out of Kindleburn.

Still nabbing around in the newbie area. I keep getting lost and can't seem to figure out what is north on the settlement map, I finally got a greatsword and I feel I'm starting to get ready for the road to... um.. somewhere? :)

The trouble with the Settlement map is that not all settlements are oriented in the same direction (the fort may be on the north end of the Settlement, the southeast end, or the southwest end), but their maps all show the same orientation (with the fort at the north end). Hopefully, GW will find a way to make the Settlement maps work like the world map or the mini-map.

The key to navigating a settlement is to know that if you're standing in front of the bank, facing the bank, then the temple will always be to your right, whether that means north, south, etc. It's tricky, but it helps.

Kal Tagan (and any new folks) I often do walk-abouts to visit different areas and settlements. If you ever see me in game, you are welcome to tag along. And if I've found any spare equipment in my travels I always share with my road-mates.

I think I saw you in game this evening? Name was something about a shrubbery... :P

I use Aragon as a fixed swing through point for Schedim, my wannabe peddler and restless wanderer. Would be cleric of Hanspur and small time thief, rogue and opportunist. Will deal in smlle easily carried objects when the world stabilize, now I just trade in anything making myself useful as crafter of bows.

I will start a company "Rats of Hanspur" with the aim to actually turn it into a religious order the day religion goes live. anyone sharing that interest is welcome, but it is a longterm goal with little of plans for the foreseeable future.
