Did anybody name the SoV big boss good guy?

Wrath of the Righteous

Trying to avoid spoilers, but there is an opportunity to interact with a planetar in SoV. I was wondering if anyone has done so, and did it have a name. I admit to wanting to steal shamelessly a cool name.

Nobody'sHome? That seems like the sort of thing you would do...

Serious spoilers, GMs only:
I actually had the Hand of the Inheritor show up. The party had been deceived by "Iomedae", who, just after Eustoyriax's defeat, popped in and broke all the profane gifts at once. One of them grasped the Sword, and it gated in the Hand to slay the deceiving succubus and restore the party. I used it as an opportunity to set up the Hand for later. I also set him up as the father of the party aasimar, so... kind of a big deal.

That said, the name I used for him was Extormedeus, or something like that. So you could use that. :)

The planetar hasn't come up yet... although we do have a very curious cassisian, and a Doge hound archon. Long story.

I never told my players anything about the planetar as it was completely unnecessary by that point.

I do like Kalindlara's idea though, adds more flavor to it and can provide a preview for things to come.

LOL! You know me all too well! Angels, archons, and azata swarm through my APs like vermin!

And since we're spoilering for no particular raisin:

Goes with the flow:

Unfortunately, Eustoyriax was a pushover for the group (Protection from Evil really deserves a good nerfing), so although I had planned for a planetar to show up, one never did.

I'd played up Ayruzi as a much more Sarenrae-flavored angel than Iomedaean, so I hadn't thought of a name.

I don't want to step on Kalindlara's toes, but "Extormedeus" sounds too much like a cross between Eustoyriax and Asmodeus; not what I look for in my angels. Otherwise, I *LOVE* her idea of using the Hand (about the right CR *and* an angel)! It's a singular event, and deserves a singular planetar/angel.

Off the top of my head, the angels, azata, and archons in the APs tend to avoid x's and th's, and favor y's and hard g's. So I start with an utterly-appropriate "Gabriel", add some syllables and some y's, and come up with...

Glyfferel.

Yeah. I'm not a great name generator. But there ya go!

Waits for James Jacobs to smack him upside the head with a "real" name...

EDIT: Yeah, re-thinking it, it's a pretty crappy name. I'm just not good with names. I always steal mine, myself. :-P

The party had resolved the BBEG and had installed the SoV in the cleansed (but not consecrated) chapel to Iomedae. The paladin was in the chapel praying over what to do about BBEG1 who had been captured. Part of the prayer was asking "Did he pose an ongoing threat? Can he be redeemed? What should we do to protect ourselves?"

The paladin did not have a commune or anything going, but it sort fit for the planetar to show up and answer some questions (and consecrate the new home for the SoV) and do a few things to protect the SoV.

It was pure roleplaying encounter that went well, but all I had at the spur of the moment was Sir Namenotappearinginthemodule. Less than satisfying.

I figure it will be a recurring NPC (I am a big believer in summon spells always summon the same guy each time they are reused) so wanted to give it a good name.

Nazih- means "Pure, Chaste" in Arabic
Nebo- I wanna say a Babylonian god of writing

just a couple, if you got a letter you like lemme know i'm great with names:)

Bodhi is another good one, its buddhist:)
basically with outsiders like Angels and Azata i try to give them short names that reflect a certain spirituality awakening or something else with a deeper meaning, since most good outsiders are there because they found the deeper meaning.
I personally like Arabic names for that because almost all of them have a deeper meaning:)

I actually recognize Bodhi from both Exalted: The Abyssals (which references bodhisattva as a religious title) and from Michael Dorn's criminally underappreciated novel Time Blender, which used it as a title for a massive faction of spiritualists. (That novel, by the way, is a perfect example of why you save the cliffhanger ending for book TWO.)

@NobodysHome: Thanks for the compliment. *blush* Happy to contribute!

In Buddhism, Bodhi is the transendence from Life, Death and Karma. it was one of the names we considered for our son:)
but decided it sounded too much like a d-bag surfer jock name:)
