They are still trickling in with 348 currently, but if there are about 600 items still in the pool, you would think they would be coming faster until we get closer to 600. Did they cut 50% this year? I've math-ed it out to 43% of items passing the cull so far. Brigg, you just made my day... becuase I just saw my Item for the first time! It made it past the first cull.
I am so very happy! Dude, I know the feeling. I was literally in tears when I saw my item on the list.
Odd feeling of insecurity: Most of the items I kept seeing over and over have been purged.
Now I keep seeing MY item over and over!
Oh no! My item vs one from my keep list!
Clouds Without Water wrote: Oh no! My item vs one from my keep list!
I'm just WAITING for this to happen to me.
Im pleased that out of all the grasping/grappling/disarming shields, this one advanced.
AUGH. Ring I hate survived the cut.

250 items seen by myself since the cull and counting...
...still haven't seen mine. :p
I sincerely hope to see the popcorn staff.
I see the items similar to my items and I cry because I haven't seen my item yet. I knew I should have went on a different direction but the alternative didn't come into my head until two days later :(
On the bright side I am seeing items I've never seen before.

This item only works in the hands of an X.
WHAT IF THAT X LOST HIS HANDS?
What if a lone and heroic otyugh threw off the racial tendencies of his kin to became a hero? Even following the path of the "X" he could never use this item...
Don't think I made it. The item was kind of boring compared to what has gone through. Lesson learned for next time: insert more awesome.

AHA! Weeks later, I finally see my item. Sorry, other item, but you aren't my favorite of the series of items which do the thing you do.
Haven't seen my item yet either. I will be surprised if I didn't survive the cull. Not making Top 32 I can understand, but not making the cull is a little disappointing when I consider some of the items that have made it past the cull.

It lists everything seen post cull.
Yes , I have. I also added an item to the list. I am hoping my item just hasn't been added to the list yet. Culling 50+% seems a bit much but maybe that is what happened.
Saw my item for the first time, then found out it's post-pull! :D
I even voted for it with only a little deliberation!
James Casey wrote: Yes , I have. I also added an item to the list. I am hoping my item just hasn't been added to the list yet. Culling 50+% seems a bit much but maybe that is what happened. We are at 44% of entries surviving the Cull.
Just had two items that if you combined their central abilities you'd get something pretty close to mine. Amusing.
My favorite armor survived the Cull. I knew it would.
I just saw the only armor I've liked.
I've also seen my favorite staff, dagger, and rod.
So we've gotten rid of the formatting fails at least.
Saw an item I'd seen before, but didn't care for. Actually looked at the price this time and I am not comfortable with anyone getting those powers for that cheap. So instead I voted for the other item, that I not interested in at to any greater degree.
I think now that we are past obvious nits to pick, we will see a lot more price-judging come into play as it should be the best conceptually designed items that are left at this point.
James Casey wrote: I am hoping my item just hasn't been added to the list yet. Culling 50+% seems a bit much but maybe that is what happened. I'm right there with you, James. Mine isn't on the list right now either. I expected to at least make the top 350. I wonder what the details of the cull are and how they compare to last year's cull. Was it just a percentage rounded off the bottom? Or were they all items that did not have 40% up votes both years? And if it is the latter, I wonder if the change from wondrous item to rod, staff, ring, weapon, or armor leveled out the quality of items somehow so that more received below average up votes. It would be interesting to see some of the behind the scenes statistics.

!!! I SEE MY ITEM!!!!!!
Which means I survived the cull!?
Also haha whoops I just noticed some formatting errors ;-; Nothing that actually breaks Template-Fu, just little things that I would have done differently.
But hey, it's up against a really mediocre item so hey little item of mine have an upvote.
It's actually really good to be voting post-cull. The items are much closer in quality to one another, which causes me to really focus on the fine details, and I see truly good items much more frequently. And I've only seen one item whole day that caused me to go: "What!? That survived?"
Good times.
Most of my "how are you still here?"s have been for items I don't like, but I'm sure some people do.
Alexander Bennett wrote: Most of my "how are you still here?"s have been for items I don't like, but I'm sure some people do. Yeah, I've seen many items I routinely downvoted and still do, but in almost all of them I can see why someone might like them. All of the disarming shields, for example. Personally I'm bored by them at this point, but objectively looking it's a neat idea, so why not. I hope at least one of them makes it into Top 32.
One particular type of item I've found I'm prejudiced against is what I call the "Get out of the GM's clutches free" card items. They're either panic button style items that pull the PC's fat out of the fire any time they get into a particular situation, or they manage to put the PC (and possibly allies) in a position to "rewrite" the scenario, thus allowing the PCs to win by circumventing an encounter's inherent difficulties with little or no work on the part of the PCs.
The item list says I survived the cull! And I'm thrilled to see so many new, high-quality items showing up in my voting window.

The downside of the Champion voter status is that by the time the cull occurs, you've seen nearly every item, so you really don't get to see anything new. :/
A wondrous Item survived the pull
See, 'pull' doesn't have the same meaning or intention. You pull your favorites for review, you cull (or cut - cut would be a more singular way of looking at it) those that are not meeting the criteria.
Trying to be a bit more positive, may be I will go with cut.

ACK! Keep Item vs. Keep Item!
That is a cool effect and very cinematic, but by the time my PC can spend half his wealth let alone want to invest that much into a singular weapon most of my opponents will not be effected by its power.

Having a lot of pairs now where I have to reread things carefully. Items are a lot more closely matched now.
I'd really love to see my item, even if the list says it's there...
Monk vs. Monk. Round 1... Fight!
Edit: Oh, hey. That Dedicated tag snuck up on me. Hmmm... My spellchecker doesn't like "snuck." Must be a yankee dictionary.

Nope, my yankee checker wants sneaked instead of snuck.
Saw my item on list but seeing it in voting again was still a little more of a relief

Just saw my item's doppleganger. Good to know that someone else was thinking along the same lines I was. Don't know if it's "great minds think alike" or "fools seldom differ," but it works for me.
Damn, my favorite joke items, like the corny one, got culled.
Aroden is dead.
Ring, I really like your name, and your flavor text. But your rules, they just don't feel right. I don't know what I was expecting after reading the fluff, but it wasn't that.
Still, grudging upvote compared to your competition.
Ugh, I see my item on the post-cull list, but I'd feel a lot better if I got a chance to see it myself.
In other news, I think I encountered the awesome rod everyone keeps talking about.
My favorite ring is gone. It was a bit of a SIAC, but it opened up all sort of possibilities and didn't even have any numerical bonus to it. A rare thing these days.
Um. A gun made the cull. It got my vote too.
