I'm already getting pairs of items I've both seen; is this just randomness, or does the overall pool seem small-ish?

Out of 100-something words of description the item ability was 25 words. I checked.
Random, completely unrelated school and spell, though it still has a proper school and spell alongside it. But its still better than the other item.

Hmmm... perfect formatting, spelling, but I have no idea what this thing actually does v. poorly formatted SIAC item.

My item came up. Awesome! The item it was paired against was awesomer. Bummer.

No, the 25-of-actual-powers-item, you won't win with the other item just by exchanging places with it.

There's been at least four times where I would go from "Item of A versus Item of B" into "Item of B versus Item of A". I think it does that just to make sure I'm not just going B, B, B, B, B and that I am actually checking the items. Like, if it sneaks a repeat vote in, it's probably checking that your votes match and you're consistent.
Yes, create multiple new things in your one entry...
I'm seeing a lot of entangle mechanics.

Yes, but that's not what I mean. It's not pronouns, it's assuming that only individuals of one gender would desire or require a particular item.

*edit*
Didn't see your follow-up post. Yes, that is a problem. Still, most manly-man barbarians aren't going to wear the frilly underarmor of silky goodness. (Or at least many of them will be unwilling to admit they do.)
Does a +1 longsword (not actual item, but might as well be) count as a unique item when you give it a cool description and two paragraphs of backstory, but no other unique abilities?

Actually, I didn't mean repeat pairs (although I've gotten those too) but just pairs made up of items I've both seen.
The overall amount of repeating items I'm seeing is really high, like there's some I've seen 5 or even more times.
Only one item to be DQed for flirting with the wordcount and failing...

Unless it was up against mine, of course.
Keep seeing variation on "Weapon of Many Things"

Yes, albeit only within rare magic settings. Not in Pathfinder's generic fantasy suitable for Super Star, though.
Whoa, that shield is awesome. :O Coming across the few superstar items in comparison to the others is really helping me understand how I can make my entry better next year. :)

I've been ignoring pronouns under the 'minor edits that can be fixed in post' voting logic that allows formatting flaws. But I think it's a fair value to apply to voting. It's an inclusiveness thing, so you want designers to have an instinct for it.

It appears I have a soft spot for non-combat items, especially social items.
Which I guess makes sense since I'm usually the party spokesman.
I have yet to see an item with more than 200 words that I liked. Plenty have been up-voted, but none are getting added to my personal list.
I'm also finding it odd that staffs keep coming up against plainly bad items.
Back, at 121 unique items so far and three in my keep pile.
Lets do this! Star tonight.

I find the items above 200 are generally swiss army knives that either disregard action economy or slot economy. Items below that generally only try to be good at one thing, and that makes them generally more well-designed to me.
This item, sometimes known as "something completely different..."
Scaling items are too complex thing to try to fit into Super Star. Sorry. And I wrote better scaling items than this one :/

I'm going to insert a general reminder not to get too specific when talking about items. Exact word counts are probably a bit too much.

I'm definitely seeing the less-is-more wisdom regarding word count now that I'm 100+ items in.
I'm trying not to be unduly unfair to high word count items though, just because I think part of it is just the fatigue of so much reading.
GM_Solspiral wrote: Let my people GO I think I saw that item too...
An item can be amazing, but without following the format, or even mentioning a price ... sad.
3rd time getting paired with what I'm dubbing unintentionally creepy in a windowless van kind of way-named item.
Well, there's at least two magical tech items in the contest...

I also think that these categories of items shave about 20-30 words off of what a similar Wondrous Item would need, because the base items are more standardized.
And there's my first wondrous item.
Up to 3 items over wordcount! Keep 'em coming...
your a cool item but with no formatting what so ever I can't vote for you over the less cool item that followed the rules.
