I think I just stumbled upon a google translated item.

I saw a description full of capitalized nouns, which I assume was written by a German speaker.

To be fair, murderhobos are an appealing demographic in today's marketplace given their relatively high disposable income and goods consumption rate. A designer seeking a greater revenue share of upvotes would be well-rewarded by considering the needs of this niche.

I strongly encourage everyone else to consider creating items such as those next year.

Message received. Next year I'm submitting a +5 wounding keen omnibane bindle, with an extradimensional space to store the loot (and, if necessitated by settlement alignment, the corpses).
Nah, don't worry about the corpses. Just add a power that any creatures killed by the bindle slowly fade into the ethereal plane, leaving behind a small sack with all of their marketable valuables.
Also: I'm not dealing with the Ethereal Board of Health over corpse littering fines. Not unless I can get that bindle in ghostbane too.
Well then I think we're developing this nicely. Add in ghostbane and make the corpse disposal system optional with organ and/or animatable corpse retention for the parts harvesters and necromancers in the group.

No, no, no. When the item kills a creature, the dead creature and all of its gear are instantly disintegrated. A letter of credit equal in value to the total worth of the corpse and its possessions then appears in an extradimensional vault that can accessed at will by the item's wielder. The vault also contains a genie merchant who has every item in existence in stock at all times.

Why do so many items lack a description of how they look?

Descriptions are not very important to me. Coming up with the descriptive flavour is something that can be done easily at the table, and changed over and over again to suite the character or story.

Just give me clear, rational mechanics, some snappy flavour, and you will get my vote.

How many shields are there that don't either grab/swallow/bite/disarm/etc. enemy weapons or create/turn into a larger wall? I can only think of two, and one of them shows a questionable grasp of the rules.

I have seen some shields that bounce things and some that are portals. two that deal aoes in different ways. A Roman shield, and one that carries you home.

You know, I have seen those. I guess I just haven't seen them lately--instead, I just see the (at least 6) disarming shields and walls constantly that I forget them.

Additional note:

If your item steals or otherwise manipulates souls, I will vote for any old piece of crap against you.

Yeah, I'm kind of in the same line of thinking: monsters are there for treasure and XP, not to be charging stations or walking batteries for your creepy bling.

It also goes for items that absorb spells, spell levels, or attacks, negate them and then use that energy to fire back. It's a tricky design to pull off well because designers don't always realize how they mess with action economy.

Ignoring the few isolated class abilities that let you parry or otherwise block an attack, negating something like a critical hit or sneak attack, for example, is essentially equal to a healing action (probably several healing actions, since a typical critical hit would cause more damage than a typical healing spell), so that's like gaining two or more standard actions in a round for a very small cost. Then if the item automatically reflects said attack or spell, it's like the wielder gains one or more additional standard actions, and it isn't even his own turn yet!

What does the symbol of Golarion look like?

Marathon Voter Season 8

I'm seeing that too. A lot of the items I've been upvoting are squaring off, and a lot of the ones I'd been consistently downvoting aren't showing up. I find myself often pursing my lips and going "Paizo Sorting Hat, why u do dis?"

Marathon Voter Season 8

Woohoo, I made dedicated. :) Maybe I'll make Marathon after all.
Seems like things are normalizing quite a bit, and most pairs I get are pretty well matched.
ETA: Still haven't seen my item, although it's on the master list. I'll take that to mean it's either really good or really bad!

There is a specific pleasure in voting for an inexpensive (under 3K) item that is simple, straightforward, succinct, and has nice flavor... as opposed to its complicated monstrosity of an opponent that (among other failings) has a random chart table which includes a chance to render your PC most-likely-completely-unplayable, depending on the whim of the GM.

Ah. Free XP item. Check.

Yeah, particularly since there are very few uses for souls in Pathfinder (You can sell them to a demon or you can sell them to a devil).

Someone needs to make rules for this and I want the power level to be on par with Supernatural (you know, "souls are powerful reactors of energy that can do just about anything if you don't mind taking the risk").

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 , Dedicated Voter Season 8 aka artofcheatery

First, a meh item with a sign of the creator not understanding dem rules makes me vote for something I don't like and then I see the lightsaber...

...Really? Did you even try? I could make a better lightsaber.

And there you are, other weird but cool armor. I hope you also do well. You're just too sweet.

You know, I think I am biased positively towards staves that do ANYTHING beyond the bare minimum, as long as they're formatted well. Mostly because of how bland and crappy almost all existing staves are.

Yeah, reading some of the bland staves made me think of a really awesome idea for one. Now I have to wait at least a year to enter it...
