Panache / Luck Pool Question

Rules Questions

The d20pfsrd section of the Swashbuckler dealing with panache/luck synergy reads as follows:

/Quote: Grit, luck, and panache represent three different means by which heroes can gain access to the same heroic pool, using it to accomplish fantastic feats. For characters with a mix of grit, luck, and panache, they pool the resources together into a combined pool. (Those who use panache and luck gain twice their Charisma bonus in their pool.) For feats, magic items, and other effects, a panache user can spend and gain luck points in place of grit or panache points, and vice versa.

A luck user does not count as a grit or panache user to satisfy feat prerequisites. Unquote/

Assuming that I have a Swashbuckler who dips a level of Archaeologist Bard and the character has a 16 Charisma (+3) how many points would the character have in the combined panache/luck pool?

Thanks for your answers!!

The Archaeologist doesn't have luck; he has "Archaeologist's Luck." The luck being referred to in that rule is from the Sleuth archetype for Investigators.

Yup. An Archaeologist has luck based class features, but not something actually called a 'Luck Pool' per se.

After reading this thread, "luck" now sounds strange in my head :P

I will reiterate what others have said, the archaeologist doesn't actually have a luck pool, just a luck bonus on rolls. It's still a fun archetype though!

It's just another confusion caused by using the same terms to describe different things.

See Brawler:
Brawler archetype vs Brawler class vs Brawler rage power vs Brawling Armor

That certainly makes that dip a lot less appealing. Although since the panache pool and number of rounds of performance is calculated off of charisma, it does have some synergy. And with lingering performance and the fate's favored trait, it may still be worth it, as the character still will not be overly MAD (dex and charisma are most important) and one can have the luck bonus going almost always unless combat for any given day goes well beyond 21 rounds.

Thanks everyone.

?
Archaeologists do not gain the bardic performance ability or any of its performance types.

Does still get spells though.

No, but Luck rounds is based on CHA, and counts as performance for the purposes of feats that affect performance rounds.

Ah. O.K.
I suppose I should have fully reread the archetype before posting.
