Paizo General Discussion

I would like to express my delight with the paizo bussines model. Not once (yet) have I felt like paizo has tried to bend me over, and I really respect that. The first paizo product I bought was the pf begginer box. I picked it up for around $50 AUS from my local board game/hobby place. I was very pleased to find just about everything I needed to start playing. I was even more pleased to find all the main books were available for reference online free of charge(I have since bought the hard cover 1) become its a nice book 2) I feel like I was all take and no give). We have little novels you can pick up for a dollar, some free modules to start of with its great.

I would be interested to know if others feel the same way? Your experiences?

Maybe its just aus but it feels like businesses try to bend me over like it was our wedding night. I don't feel like they do that here and I want to be a loyal customer because of it. Maybe I have just been lucky, wbu?

The forums are full of people who are so deep into the product that sometimes they seem like they hate or resent Paizo.

It's like a marriage in that way. The love has transcended the need for civility and affection.

But really, if we didn't have a number of intense characters lurking around the web forums, that would probably be a sign of Paizo's waning success.

Myself, I love the the way they do business, especially OGL support and their production quality. Adventure Paths are an awesome product. I don't always agree with the way the game mechanics go, but they could surely be a lot worse, so I just ignore what I don't like.

I used to make lists of books I'd like to see Paizo publish. They're all out now. Whether they listened to me specifically or they just have a sense for what I want doesn't matter -- I gotta love a game that does that.

I'll join in on the Paizo love.

That I can buy just the Core Book in hard cover, and then all the other books I've been interested in I can get as a .pdf at a reasonable price. Combined with the PRD being open source and free has been godsend to my limited budget and made it easy for me to get new people into the game.

The few times I've made a mistake on my order Paizo fixed it up right for me (I accidentally double bought a map pack. Bough it stand alone, and then found out the same files were in a bundle I bought).

I don't want it for free, when they make it easy to get, and price it when I can buy, they'll keep getting my money.

I'll join in here as well. It just seems that the boards are filled with people who just like to criticize Paizo and the devs and the staff.

I have my issues with Paizo but it's never been based on the product or customer service or the rules. It's why I'm still here and still supporting them.

I'm at a point in my life where I'm looking around at this country and realizing that it really may not be a place that I want to be in order to continue raising my son. I feel the same way about my favorite hobby RPG's. I dont want to introduce him or get him involved to the extent that I've been for just over 30 years.

Even with all that and how I feel about the RPG community (whether it's founded or not) I STILL support Paizo because I feel that they do EXCELLENT work. They listen to their customers and really work to give them A) What they want B) a Good product. Some products are better than others but that's the nature of the production beast.

Either way, much respect to Lisa, Vic, Erik, Jason, Mark, Wes, James and anyone else that I'm forgetting.

You keep producing and I'll keep supporting with one caveat:

I live in a 2 BR apt in Queens NY with my patient and loving wife, my 12 year old son and our amazing dog Biscuit. I have ONE bookcase for RPG's and another one for Comics (trades and Omnibuses). Boardgames and the like either go in the closet (with my 6 WH40K armies. Yes, more hobby stuff occupy my closet space than clothes and I have a LOT of clothes) or a top the bookcases.
I have another bookcase specifically dedicated to RPG's.

As of IRON GODS? My two dedicated Paizo shelves are FULL.

This means I've got to offload some of my 3.5 stuff or stop with the new Paizo stuff. My wife is patient...BUT NOT THAT PATIENT. LOL.

Put me on the list of "positive experience"

It isn't perfect (nothing is), but it is fun, playable, and popular enough I can find fellows to join me.

Liberty's Edge

Add me to the list of people who profoundly enjoy Paizo's attitudes toward both their products and their customers. The ability to access their books freely online, from their own site, is a large part of why I've invested as much money in their books as I have.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

I would agree with this :)

You will find me agreeing with what you are all saying essentially, of-course they are not perfect but as long as they do their best to facilitate the customers needs they have my vote.

Thanks Shin! We strive to put out products that you can be proud to play with your son. Your post is really special to me in particular because it's probably the first time I've been on a short list with all those other names.

Don't tell me you actually meant Moreland or you'll break my little designer heart.

Sovereign Court

I have been happily reading Paizo products since the Dragon and Dungeon magazine days. They have never disappointed and have often delighted well beyond the bounds of reason. I could not agree more with the OP.

These threads can crop up often, but I think every single one of them is more than deserved. Paizo has made a fan of me for life! Their incredible forum presence has just cemented it :)

Indeed. :)

The Exchange

Definitely a great business model that has been sustained for quite a few years now. Impressive. Especially since they have had a living campaign (PFS) going now for how many years?
