Italicize Spells

The provided template does not show the "ZZspells" italicized as found in the Core Rulebook. The spell entry should appear like "ZZspells". Use the letter "i" in brackets for the italics.

/me thinks Template Fu should have caught this...

I suspect the reason it wasn't in the template is that the names of spells are considered to be inherently italicized.

I remembered a discussion on this same issue some years back, so went back and found the thread here.

Basically, commentary from the judges at the time: the template can't cover everything, a contestant is expected to know to do some things on his own, and honestly, if you fail to italicize your spells it's not a dealbreaker.

Yup, I didn't mention it because there are a lot of posts covering that aspect, however, for everyone who asked for a private template check where their spells were either/both not italicized or capitalized, I pointed out the following

  • spells should be italicized but not punctuation commas between them or the semicolon at the end of the list if you have no other part.
  • spells should be all lower case
  • don't put the spell in as "xyz, greater", make it read "greater xyz" -- the same for lesser spell names too
  • they should be sorted alphebetically from a first through to z last.

The biggest tip given to all those asking for my template check is this...

Find the same item type in the core rule book, LOOK at the named variants after the general construction tables. Check each part of your entry has the same capitalization, ordering, italicization and so forth (with the exception that the bold provided parts of the template should not be capitalized like in the book as that is the font being used).

Keep in mind that spells are capitalized (first word only) in the lists for staves.

Speaking of the spell list for staves, anyone make sense of the order the spells are listed in? There seems to be some inconsistency between alphabetical order and spell level.

Unless I'm sorely mistaken, the spell list for staves follows the following order of priority:

1: Number of charges, ascending.
2: Alphabetical order.

I think I made it the same order too - so don't forget, no matter how many reviews you get from whoever, do this step once at least...

Find the same item type in the core rule book, if possible try to find an item as like to template needs as your item does.

LOOK at the named variants after the general construction tables and ensure that part of your entry matches with capitalization, sort ordering, italicization and so forth...

Exceptions:
There may be an change to formatting in the core rule book errata, double check that errata - e.g. from 5th editions, slot - (dash) becoming slot none;

Those parts provided by the template should not be capitalized - leave them how the template has them. The capitalization you see in the book is because of the font in use I believe.
