Throwing / Hurling Tower Shields

Rules Questions

Lantern Lodge

Tis the season to make a new character!

I love making characters, and I've taken a liking to the odd or the under-powered and doing my best to make them feasible. This time, the challenge is to make the Tower Shield work (!!!).

Since I can't shield bash with a tower shield, the general outline right now is to throw them (And maybe even fly above the enemy and activate a battlement shield O.o). To accomplish this, I'm planning on going barbarian.

Now for the questions:
1. As an improvised weapon, what would a tower shield be? Greatclub? Is it even possible (though that'd be weird if it isn't, since you can function normally when it's strapped to one arm... ).

2. In regards to Lesser Hurling, what would the Shield's size category be? The closest thing I can find is a statement in weapons saying that the size category of an item is 2 less than the wielder if light, 1 less if it's one handed, and the same size as the wielder if it is two handed. Can't find anything to that effect in the armor section. Thoughts?

There probably isn't any official ruling on this. As a GM I would say that a tower shield used as a melee weapon would function as an improvised greatclub. Since the tower shield specifically says it imposes a -2 penalty on all attack rolls, I'd probably add that in as well. (The idea being that not only is it not intended to be a weapon, but it's also bulky and awkward; sort of like trying to swing a car door at someone.)

This came up at table recently in a PFS game. The portable-wall-wielder is a fairly new player so we tend to talk out his (possibly crazy) ideas to help him learn how to reason within the rules. And most of the regular players take turns as GM so we tend to try to collectively agree on rulings.

The table consensus was that it could be treated as an oversized, heavy shield. There was some debate as to whether it would be large or huge, but the player decided it wasn't worth it even at large.

His shield is a battlement.

We also discussed the possibility of flying up and dropping it. Someone thought it would have to a: form vertically, lessening the effect and b: have to be formed somewhere it could legally stand. Like a summoned creature.

He did manage some neat results by setting up the battlement adjacent and perpendicular to the bar (as in drinking). He later leaned over the bar from the far side and retrieved his shield by reverse-triggering it. The ease with which it could be retrieved was handy.
