Making Form of the Dragon II last longer.

Advice

So, quick back story. I'm playing a monk/sorc/Dragon Disciple. In my party, we have an Order of the Dragon Cavalier. What I'd like to do, if possible, is make my FotD II last long enough for the Cav to be able to use me (in dragon form) as her mount. Thematically it would fit both character concepts.

Unfortunately the ability says it works like the spell, and the spell has a comparatively short duration. Is there any way, items or Feats that I've missed, to extend the duration?

Thanks,
Derrack A. Tyme

By RAW without 3rd party, I can't find anything. Robes of Arcane Heritage don't work without DM finagling based on the wording of the ability, sorry.

Scarab Sages

There is the monster feat extend spell-like ability, to double the duration, but that's it. It's still shourt duration even with Extend SLA.

1 level dip as a spell sage wizard. You get a 1/day +4 CL on a spell casting.

That doesn't help a dragon disciple, Their form of the dragon is a SLA, not a spell.

You might take a look at the ring of continuation. It is in Ultimate Equipment. I am not sure if it is usable on an SLA, and it is kind of pricey, but it may get you what you want.

Nope; not a spell, apparently.

I thought I read something once about not being able to use sentient creatures and/or PCs as mounts. Specifically about class feature mounts, mind you, not just riding them.

I'm fairly sure it'd not be PFS legal at least.

Ring of Continuation only works on buffs that are 10 minutes per level or longer in duration, anyway.

Is this an errata or in a FAQ somewhere, because the text in the PRD sure doesn't have any limitation like this.

This band of braided copper wires throbs ever so slightly in harmony with its wearer's heartbeat. Whenever the wearer of this ring casts a spell with a range of personal, that spell remains in effect for 24 hours or until the wearer casts another spell with a range of personal (whichever comes first). Spells that usually only affect one specific action (such as making a particular attack) are expended after that action. This does not reduce the duration of spells that normally last longer than 24 hours. Casting a new spell does not eliminate a previous spell if its normal duration is such that it would still be in effect. However, attempts to dispel or otherwise eliminate a spell kept active by the ring work normally and, if successful, remove the spell from the ring, causing the wearer to lose all benefits from that spell.

It was changed via this blog over two years ago, which was then added to the FAQ over a year ago.

Thanks. The ring definitely seems overpriced to me with that limitation. I would guess a rod/pearl combination would be more cost effective for keeping a 10 min/level buff up.

Oh, yeah, the ring's pretty much worthless now.

Scarab Sages

Dang. All they had to do was make it a 1 minute/level duration and it would've been AMAZING. Sad day.
