Pawns BB Box compared to standard Pawns

Product Discussion

So I have a question about the Pawns in all the sets, Im considering selling all my old plastic Minis and replacing them with Pawns what I want to know is how do the compare to the pawns in the beginers box cause those are the only ones I have seen?

Thanks in advance

Except for content, same same.

So the shapes and the solid materials is the same

Yes, though the Beginner Box does not have small or huge sized pawns. The shapes of the small and huge pawns is similar to the medium sized, but scaled up/down accordingly.

A few things I noted about the Beginner Box pawns:

  • The small creatures in the Beginner Box are printed on medium size pawns. Not a big deal, but things like the goblins won't match up between the Beginner Box and the Bestiary Boxes.
  • Sometimes the art used for a given creature is different in the Beginner Box and the subsequent Bestiary Boxes. I actually find this to be a plus, as it helps differentiate pawns at the table.
  • The Beginner Box pawns are not marked with their source; Bestiary Box pawns are.
  • The bases provided in the first print run of the Beginner Box differ from those used in the Bestiary Boxes (and subsequent printings of the Beginner Box): They were small and square -- much like something you would expect to find in a board game -- as opposed to the miniature-like 1-inch circles which came later.
