Tier 1?

I signed up for a convention, to be a GM, and told them that I would have my 1-star GM qualifications done before the con started. They told me that they would put me in as a tier 1 GM. Is that the same thing as a 1-star gm, or am I missing something else entirely?

Tier 1 GMs generally run most of the slots.

You can GM a slot, and still have to pay.

Or GM 3 slots, and get in for free.

Or GM most (or all) of the slots, and get a pat on the back.

(though Conventions really vary as to what they offer and to whom)

Alright, the messages make more sense now. thanks. Still learning, and I think I always will be.

At GenCon, Tier 1 GMs are awarded with some of the most sought after Convention Boons in existence, like the ability to play exotic races such as Ratfolk and Goblins.

At PaizoCon, we got something like $70 in store credit, and a giant bag of goodies.

At other Conventions I've even been awarded with laryngitis!

Man, I never make it to conventions. I have no way of getting a laryngitis boon. That is so unfair! Maybe I'll GM for an online con and hope to get a laryngitis boon too.

Well, weather I get a boon or not, I'm hoping that this will be a chance to expand my abilities as a GM, and have a good time. I just don't want to wind up with the dreaded CON CRUD boon!

Aww, but he's so cuuute!

Best of luck at your convention though, and have fun! Keep hydrated, your body will thank you, and prep as much as you can! You seem to have a great attitude about it already. And now I can't speak for your specific con, but most of the mid-to-large sized conventions offer a race boon (one of the elemental plane-touched races this year) and a good shot at collecting some more prizes like product or player boons as well.
