Can we mix together Card Society Game and S&S base campaign?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Hi guys, we just finished RotRL with my girlfirend, and I'll purchase the S&S box soon. But I wanted to know if it was possible to mix the box with the adventure society game, and get some rewards from the bonus scenario?

We are not planning on using class deck, just the regular boxes (and the following adventures) and try to get some more play time with the pdf scenario. Is that possible? Do you have any advice about this idea?

And we wanted to know if the 7 characters of the base box are good to go from a duo perspective. Can we play whoever we want? We did RotRL with Lem and Kyra.

If it's just a home game, you can technically do whatever you want. My advice on the idea would be first and foremost to make sure you don't double-up on feat rewards. If you are going to be doing all of the base scenarios, never let your characters gain Skill, Power, or Card Feats as rewards from playing the extra PFS scenarios. Also ignore any Loot related rewards from PFS scenarios as you should be receiving those from the base scenarios. You could think of different rewards to replace ones that don't work from the PFS scenarios, such as extra "gain a random card of X type" or something.

As far as characters go, you can pick any you like. They pretty much all work fine, though some better than others. You can search the forums to find opinions on pretty much everyone.

Grand Lodge

The only problem I see is that the Organized Play (path) and the Adventure Path are parallel. Not meant to be mixed.

So if you go down the Organized Play path you can start with the mini-scenario the the PDF adventures or you can start with the base set adventure then the Adventure Path scenarios.

Oh so the Advenure Card Guild are like a second campaign rigth? The 0-1 is like the first adventure? You need the first adventure The Wormwood Mutinery to play Lost at Sea? Is that how it works?

In that case it could be a better idea for my girlfriend and I to just play with two different group, right? With different progression.

Yes, Season of the Shackles is it's own Adventure Path that is meant to be played separately and you add the Adventure Deck 1 to the box as soon as you start. There is no Adventure B for Season of the Shackles.

And yes, It would be much simpler if you just play two different sets of characters for each Adventure Path that you'll be playing, but using the OP scenarios as extras does seem like an interesting idea. Either way, good luck and have fun!

I think I'll go with the two groups. One last question: do they intend to go with the same level of power in Season of the Shackles? Will there be a 0-3, 0-4... With more difficult monster and challenge?

And thanks for all the advices guys :) And sorry for my english, not my fluent linguage.

Yes. Season of the Shackles is Season 0 of the adventure card guild. That is the 0 in 0-1. The 1 is the adventure number of the Season of the Shackle adventure path.

0-1: Lost at Sea
0-2: A Pirate's Life
0-3: Treacherous Waters
0-4: Island of the Damned
0-5: Run Out the Guns
0-6: Hurricane Weather

Then, when season 1 starts with Wrath of the Righteous, we'll have 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc.

And the difficulty increase just like the originals adventures? I mean the Season is not just for low level character? Between the 0-1 and the 0-3 we can see a storyline evolve and the goals and adversaries becoming more important?

Sorry for all the questions but they're lacking of clarity about the adventure society game I think so I préfér ask to other players!

Oh, yeah. Sorry, I misunderstood your question. Yes, the difficulty increases. You also get feats and loot even, just like in a non-society adventure path.

Basically, you could look of it as "Take Skull and Shackles, remove the adventures and scenarios, and stick these ones in instead." They have their own story, and since they are limited to a single card, there is actually much more story in it.

Ok so I'll buy that! It's basically a second campaign with the S&S set! Thanks for all the clarification, now I'm waiting the box! :)
