Instant Armor and Oloch

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Lantern Lodge

The spell for Instant Armor states: "When armor is played on any check, discard this card to recharge that armor instead of discarding, burying, or banishing it."

Would this apply for Oloch's use of armor to beat a healing into a character? Are powers considered "checks?"

No. Using a power on a character that uses a card is not "playing" the card. Playing a card refers to using the card's ability.

Lantern Lodge

That's what I thought, but the art for Instant Armor has Oloch's image on it* and I guess I thought that maybe I had missed something somewhere and there was some sort of synergy there.

*I DO know that art =/= rule.

Sometimes it is the furthest from it! Or maybe rather sense.

Acid arrow depicts lini using it, however she does not have the skill to recharge or utilize it well.

Same goes for the teleportation spell and kyra.

I think there might be one or two more that make that little sense as well but I can't recall them.

I was surprised to notice Karzoug on the art for Arcane Armor. Good luck facing him with that in your hand.

These are all references to a new rule Paizo hasn't told us yet. If a card is played in an encounter involving someone depicted in the art, you autowin the scenario. Lini plays Acid Arrow? You just won. Karzoug? Yup, Arcane Armor kills him.

Seriously though, Oloch on Instant Armor actually makes sense, if you look at his Shield of Gorum role. He can take a feat to discard armors instead of burying, and another feat to recharge instead. Yes, Oloch can eventually recharge a Leather Armor to prevent 500 points of non combat Force damage.

Now I want a promo that deals 500 force damage.

You listening Mike? It would be hilarious. :D

Sovereign Court

Mogmurch on a d6 Strength with a ton of blessings and dice adds. It isn't Force, but it burns. Bad.

I just think it would be hilarious to say 500 damage, since more than ten pretty much never matters anyway.

An idea based on bombs:

Arcane 12

If you fail to defeat Mogmurch's Secret Stash, take 500 damage with the Fire Trait, then banish Mogmurch's Secret Stash.

Mogmurch's Secret 'Stache (everyone likes a secret 'stache better) is full of win.

Please, please, please make this a promo card Mike.

Sovereign Court

It's gotta be 'Stache, agreed. That would be awesome. Maybe throw some regular skills into the checks though so it isn't almost guaranteed to destroy most characters :)

Oh, I'm listening.

Sovereign Court

Considering it deals 500 damage, I'm not sure if Mike listening is good or bad. I want that card. I don't want to encounter it.

Lantern Lodge

Mogmurch's gotta secret 'stache
Where goblins dance and punch and bash
Careful where you're dancin' though
Or Mogmurch's Secret 'Stache will blow!

Sovereign Court
