It's late November, and I'm starting to get that annual tingling feeling... and checking in with my very favorite forum far more frequently than is in any way appropriate...
It's been a while (it always is!), and I'm looking forward to another great contest!

I check the logo now ever time I come to the page. Nothing new yet...

Lol, I keep coming hoping to see the Wayfinder 12 front cover and a coming soon store page >.<
And yes, Template Fu has come out of hibernation and is raring to go on the next batch of Top 32.
I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air...
I wonder if Sean will return to take on hosting duties this year, or leave it up to Paizo to figure things out. Either way, it should be a blast.
Soooon. Looking forward to it, and hoping I can swing a Marathon Voter tag this year.
-Ben.
should be a good one.
I kinda hope they do something other than wondrous item as the intro round this year. I understand why they use it as a standard (all the different things they can gauge from a small entry, and it seems unlikely they will change after tweaking and training us all so well, but it would be nice to see a change of gears none the less
Waiting patiently, like the woman in the old "open-open-open" commercials.

I'm very much looking forward to this year's RPGSS! :) I'm no longer eligible to enter, but I'll be sure to blog a lot about the contest. I've written a lot about wondrous item design and monster design, so check it out. :)

Just a few more days and that banner will be waving... my favorite time of the year outside of convention season!

Another week begins, another week closer to dinner :P
I am very anxious...^.^
can't wait to have my entry picked apart. <.<
I'm extremely excited as well! Come on RPGSS!
I wonder what percentage of participants have their round 1 wondrous item completed, ready to submit, and won't be making any last minute changes?

design complete - check.
ready to submit - ummm, ask again in a week :P
last minute changes - ummm, probably a minor tweak or two depending on feedback :D
Monster Idea - have one floating around in my subconscious
Scenario Ideas - a couple of possibilities in my subconscious
Adventure Proposal - nothing yet :(
- Now back to Wayfinder submission work for me, as a distraction of course! >.<
I feel very confident about my item. I've actually been playtesting it with permission from my GM. ^.^
*Bounces up and down in anticipation*
I can't wait... my magic walkie talkie is going to WIN
So glad to see that the RPGSS community is starting to wake up from its 9 months long hibernation. :-) The RPGSS season - one of my favorite times of the year!
It's the most...wonderful tiiiiiime of the yeeeeeaaaarrrrrr!
*Gets blown up*
I've no idea what I intend to enter for the magic item round this year, one can only cram so many spells in a can!
Oooh, new header: RPG Superstar is almost here!
I'm becoming compulsive on my checking for it
All set to go, well maybe a few touches here and there. :)
Item... Finally... Finished... <Pant> <Gasp>
Need... Superstar... <Whimper>

I finished mine up recently too! And now we wait....
I started... one. It grew into two. No three. Wait, I started two & they have grown into six. Nope, they've grown into too many SAKs to count. Let me start over.
I have... an idea.
(or two).
I actually have a decent idea this year. Most of my ideas last year never would have made it through the voting process.
It seems obvious (as people considered my previous entry), hopefully it hasn't already been done.

I have noticed something about myself.
As the year goes by I find myself less and less interested in posting on the forums. I get distracted by my own projects or just life. I usually hit my low point around November.
However every year as December begins RPG Superstar approaches I become more and more interested in reading and posting in the forums. I just find this contest so exciting.
It is what keeps me coming back to the Paizo forums and makes me excited each year about the upcoming year. Seeing all of the hopeful and creative people here really gives my optimism and creative process a shot in the arm.
I will admit I also find the voting along with both praise and kvetching tremendously fun. :-)

Smells like Superstar season in here...

Man, that's a lot of Superstar tags bumping my subscription tags out of the way...
Steven Helt wrote: Always rifle through past years to check! : } I'm more worried it was in the discard pile from one of the last two years.
In fact, it's either facepalm obvious or it's used as an example of what not to submit.
So, yeah, I need to check the Superstar Advice list too.

I second your sentiments, Covent. I myself rarely frequent Paizo boards during the rest of the year, but I absolutely LOVE coming back as December rolls around and seeing all the familiar faces.
What a great community RPGS has! To me, you all are some of the most creative, talented, and brilliant people I've ever had the pleasure of sharing a message board with.
Best of luck to everyone. I can hardly WAIT!!!!!
Well, it's after midnight here on the East Coast, which means I probably don't have to wait for tomorrow anymore...
The stickies have vanished!
I feel it coming!

I know I can't be the only one that read this as a double-entendre.
Also...*Deep breaths*
Read over my item seven last times.
I'm...ready...
It's a-comin'! I can feel it in mah bones!
Brigg: You have time to turn it in. Why not sit on it for a while? There is always room for improvement! :)

I really recommend listening to Chris's advice. If you immediately submit what you have the moment the submission tool appears, you're doing yourself a disservice.
Thank you guys. ^.^
This is my first year trying this, and I'm really doing my best to stick to the advice of the pros. I'm feeling a little flat after declining critique from the community before the contest. But that was because I wasn't sure if it was against the rules or not.
But I have been reading and re-reading submission and advice threads from this forum and other blogs linked from this forum. That's why I feel ready. I'll be careful and patient.
Probably submit a day or two after the button appears. I could use an extra day.

Good idea. That gives you time to read the contest rules carefully and ensure that you aren't disqualified for any reason. Also, you're correct that posting your item publically is not allowed (since then the judges might have seen it, and they'd know who wrote it), but you can get a private critique from friends or community members who aren't judges.

It's not too late to take people up on their offer of a critique (or even to still come up with an idea for those who don't yet have one).
You don't need to submit until before the deadline. There's a lot of time between now and then and you never know when someone will make a comment that give you an idea or makes you realize you've missed something.
Yeah, we do tend to get a lot of, "ARGH, I can't believe I did/didn't do X!" comments. :p
It's good to hang back and read those and check to see if you committed the same mistake.

We spoke to Sean about Superstar (I did it myself, in fact). He's busy with his own projects, which is totally understandable. (And to be honest I am looking forward to what he is working on, so I don't want to distract him!) If he ever decided he'd like to come back to some Superstar duties, I'm pretty sure we'd love to have him.
Could this be the year? Let's hope it is. Cheers to everyone who participates.
So I have two online contests I have marked to check on everyday. This one is labeled as 'The Contest' where the other one has it's actual name.
What does this say about me?
(This is Brigg. Going to use my real name for a little while here.)
Thanks again, guys.
And Chris, I responded to your PM.
