Looking for Ideas for a Kitsune Character

Advice

As above, I'm hoping to take many of the Kitsune flavor feats that most people seem to think aren't worth the time. At least Fox form and one to four Magical tails. Since that's so many feats I'm trying to think of something fun to play that doesn't need that many feats. I was thinking Swashbuckler, Sorcerer, or Druid.

Any thoughts or build suggestions? I want the character to have an infiltration/scout capability hence the enchantments and shape-shifting.

go the Kitsune rogue archetype

heaps of diplomacy :)

Dark Archive

Arcanist 1(Spell Specialist)+ Rogue 3(Kitsune Trickster+Underground Chemist)->Arcane Trickster 1->Evangelist 10(Aligned Class Arcane Trickster)->Agent of the Grave 5
You get spell specializations every time you gain a new spell level, sneak attack 7d6, are Int Focused and get a lot of skills points so you can be a skillmonkey, you don't need the Underground Chemist archetype but since you have so many skill points craft(Alchemy) is nice for you and if the new(still unreleased) rogue talent for getting some bombs/day scales with sneak attack instead of rogue level you get okay bombs a couple times/day as well.

Sorcerer doesn't need feats to be effective, I would go with that. Getting spells that don't need metamagic to be good is easy, there are many guides. Kitsune make really good sorcerers.

Inspired Blade Swashbuckler 1/Slayer X would make for a good martial character. You only need to spend your first feat on Fencing Grace; from there, you can use all of your other feats on tails and fox form. Use your Slayer Combat Style to further supplement your combat abilities (probably want the Two-Handed Style and take Power Attack/Cleave/Dreadful Carnage).

Liberty's Edge

Kitsune Sorcerer focusing on Enchantment spells is hilariously good due to their Racial Favored Class bonus. And all you ever need for Feats are Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus (Enchantment)...and not right away either. Go Fey Bloodline (as you should) and you'll also gain Improved Initiative at 7th and Quicken Spell at 13th, and what else do you really need?

Being at 1st level with Sleep spells with Save DCs of 18 or so, going to DC 29 Dominate Person spells at 10th makes for a fun time, and it's not like you can't also dabble in non-enchantment spells for when they aren't useful...

Also, mind controlling people is eminently thematically appropriate for a many-tailed Kitsune.

With Fox shape being on the list of wants I wonder how well it would work to go at least one level of Mouser Swashbuckler.
With the low damage on the bite one might need some rogue levels for some sneak attack as long as an ally is adjacent.

If you were going to do this (and its not a bad idea by any means) your best bet is to multiclass swashbuckler / slayer. I'm not sure if this is a PFS build or not, but if it is you wouldn't normally be able to take Improved Natural Attack for your character. The exception to the rule is the natural weapon combat style, for rangers, which you can access with the combat style slayer talent. This way, you don't need to worry about not wanting to invest in Wisdom or the like. Of course the plus side is that if you go ranger, you could gain all sorts of delicious natural attack buffing spells that now apply to you all of a sudden.

Thanks guys. It's for a home game of Kingmaker. I'm now trying to determine if I want sorc or swash.

Kitsune swashbuckler with a hookhand and clockwork template...

But for serious, you could go sorcerer and give him a Wizard Hook for swashbuckler feel.
Give me a sec to link wizard hook.

Link is busted, so I can only provide url. Sorry.

Kitsune swashbuckler that uses Vulpine Pounce feat. Martials crave Pounce.

I wouldn't do more then 2 tails. You should have a very decent charm person DC and the Disguise will help you blend in better.

I'd take a trait for UMD. Your CHA will help you layer your defenses.

Take Arcane Strike since you qualify for it.

You probably want a 20 charisma, it is good to be the king.

Have you picked up the Occult Playtest?

The mesmerist is an interesting class, and has little use for feats in general(no specific feats needed/available, lots of class abilities). Also, the kitsune tails for the most part are really good with the mesmerist abilities.

If its allowed Occult playtest stuff

Either Kinetcist for "foxfire" like abilities, or Mesmer or the tricky illusion representation. (and some synergy with kistune tail spells)

consider a dip in the charsima gunslinger or swashbuckler I think if you want more battle ability.

Swashbuckler. Sorceror doesn't get enough skill points or spells to do utility work AND be useful in combat, and the handsome foxy rogue with a rapier and some racial magic is more charming than the spell-slinger with a bunch of spells that probably overlap his racial abilities.

But I'm biased against sorceror.

I remember I made a life oracle kitsune that was deaf and focused on still spell to remain in fox form indefinitely.

It was far from optimal, but that wasn't the concern of the character. If your DM rules that you can use natural spell with Fox Form then you do not require still spell at all.

Take it at whatever value you wish.

Sorcerer - you can completely rock enchantment magic, I usually also get buffs as a fall-back. But also look at the party you are in. Do you need skills?

If you like druid but don't want to be fully druid.

You could take a look at Feral Hunter.. It's kind of a cross section of a druid with some combat spliced in. Depending on how you build you could make decent enough caster out of it. along with natural spell, and you could possibly flavor wyild shape as turning into a larger fox for combat if you wished.

just a random idea that popped up

Helcack I don't understand your build. Could you explain it? Why agent of the grave?

Yeah that one seems completely out of left field. "Okay you're this tricky, cunning rogue with magic and skill, then suddenly you JOIN THE DEATH CULT AND BEGIN GRAVE-ROBBING for no apparent reason." Even if you want lichdom or undead minions, you can do it with regular old spellcaster.

Expanding on your sorcerer v. swashbuckler dilemma, if you go sorceror you need to decide at the beginning if you are going to be a spellcaster (full caster progression) or some dude who happens to cast spells (mostly some other class like swashbuckler, but you sipped sorcerer for a few tricks and the ability to use wands).

Take five levels as a swashbuckler and then slide right into shadowdancer. These classes complement each other very well and shadowdancer has excellent stealth capability.
