Spoiler:

Born in the mountains, to a small village hidden away from the world, Darien Rhazael Vilander was born. He was the son of an angel, and a powerful sorcerer of the village. Darien’s lineage followed that of one of the last great gold Wyrms within the land. Ancient and powerful blood raged through his veins like wildfire. Leaving him golden, his hair, vibrant blonde, even his eyes were a brilliant gold, he even grew a set of golden wings, while not strong enough to grant him flight, they were able to be controlled slightly and gave him an aura of power. He was trained in controlling his powers by his mother, however there was a very aggressive nature to him. When he played, or learned he always had to be first. He had to be the best, not only because of his lineage but because he demanded it of himself. He wanted power, eventually the lessons did not come fast enough, his lust for strength driving him further on. In his brashness he left the mountain village, seeking ancient caverns surrounding it, and was set upon by a small group of orcs. Darien smiled, he raised his hands and let out a torrent of fire, felling several in an instant, however more came, and some were not deterred by the flames and soon were upon him. He was struck twice by poisoned blades. In pain, a rage came. A rage like nothing he had felt before, he grew claws of a dragon, his skin turned to scales and he was lost to a bloodlust. He shredded several more of the beasts, his physical fitness serving him well, but still more came and he fell deeper into the rage. Finally he was struck down and with blurry vision looked up to a greataxe ready to smash down on him when a golden wyrm lept from on high scattering the orcs. After the orcs fled the golden dragon returned to its normal form, it was his mother. She tended to him there for hours, too afraid to move him lest the poison spread faster. Eventually, the orcs returned with the full size of their war party and they were heading straight towards the village. His mother told him to wait where he lay as if I could move he thought in response. She turned and morphed into the golden dragon once again and flew off into the orc’s ranks. For hours shouting and roars were heard then silence. Darian laid there a day, falling asleep against his will that night, the next morn, his wounds were healed and the poison gone, his mother’s healing proving great. He made his way to the spot he had heard the battle coming from the night before, he looked around in awe as scores upon scores of dead and charred orcs lay where they were slain. It was then he heard a moan, and to his dismay, found his mother, laying beaten and bloody ontop of a pile of dead orcs. After he helped her off the pile and into a sitting position behind the rocks she told him of the battle, about how the orcs warband had been an extremely large one, about the great orc warboss that had lead them, how she fell, to volleys of arrows and the mighty sword stroke of the warboss. Darien laid there crying, blaming himself for roaming so far from the village in the mountains, knowing that orcs and other monsters called these mountains there home.
I swear to you this day mother, The orc shall pay for what they’ve done. I will garner the strength, and power to destroy them all. I swear to you… (sobs) They will all pay, and I will never let something like this happen again. I HATE THEM!

His mother, her glamour now fading due to her loss of strength placed a gentle hand on his face and said.
My son, bear no ill towards them, it is but the way of things… (deep breath) I have something I need to tell you, something I should have told you long before. She pauses a moment and gathers her strength.
know that no matter what, I will always love you, I was not sure if what I knew was true, I thought perhaps, your other great lineage’s would wash it away, and for a while, and at least physically, they have. But when I saw you fight yesterday, I saw not only the strength, a nobility of dragon, and angel, but pure ferociousness and the savagery of orcs. Your drive for power, your reckless ways and pride, Even the way you fight, stems from the blood of orcs. You see, you have orc blood coursing in your veins, it is weaker, and lesser than that of your dragon blood, but it will cause you to seek out power, it will tempt you to anger, and hate, to pride. While these are all emotions we use, it will attempt to force you into feeling only these. You must fight it, you have the strength to do so, you can master it, as I have. as her glamour falls away, her skin turns to a light green, tusks appear on her bottom lip, and her hair vanishes.
The orc leader is your half-brother, my son, the son of me and a human man. His lineage has almost overtaken him, physically, and emotionally. But I saw something in his eyes. A glimmer of hope, there I still, what was once my first baby boy in there somewhere and I could not strike him down. I am sure he hated me, for I am sure he feels I abandoned him… our village was attacked by orcs, burned to the ground, his father slain… I could not find him. I killed many of them that night, but I could not find him. So I left, I left that part of my life behind, leaving him for dead, until today, when I saw him. He recognized me to I am sure… Your half-brothers name is David, my son, forgive me. You must leave these mountains… there is nothing left for you here, find your way, My grandfather, an elf named Tariel, resides in Irrisen, so too, my father, an orc named Krumush, lives there. Seek them out, and remember always I love you.

Darien could only mutter a single world. No…. as he looked on in disbelief, not long after she spoke to him, his mother died. She had saved her last energy to live until she could speak with him, one last time. Darien sat in silent shock for over a day, before returning to the village carry his mother. When he got there the village was in ruins, the houses were burning, the livestock slaughtered. Bodies of the men in the militia of the small village lay about pillaged and brutalized. He buried his mother at the peak of the mountain. Casting a permanent light spell to forever illuminate the site, to this day he still cannot say how he accomplished the task, it just… happened. When he returned to the village he checked the small cave where the children and women would hide during other incidents, though of smaller caliber and found most of the children and a few mothers there alive, some, wrapped in cloth at the back, killed by blades or smoke. He told them they had to leave, the village they had called home for over 200 years was no longer safe for them. He guided them out of the mountains to the closest town nearby and said his farewells, even to his beloved Anna. He promised them he would be back after speaking with his grandfather, and after he gain greater strength. He told them he would come back one day and once again make the mountains theirs, that he would keep them safe. As he left the town, Darian knew what he had to do for now, to anyone looking it seemed he had everything under control, but inside his heart, emotions were swirling, he wasn’t sure of anything anymore. He had a brother, that brother had killed his mother, and his family, but his mother wanted him to save his half-brother from himself? How? Why shouldn’t he just kill him? Why couldn’t he hate that bastard? Why did he feel this pity, this… caring? He could only hope his grandfather Tariel could tell him. Hoped he would tell him what to do, that he should hate his half-brother, hate orcs and kill them all… but yet, somewhere in his heart, he hoped not.

You completely missed my application as well :).
He is completed save for an alias, which will come as soon as I am selected.

It's the dwarven hunter Breunor "Brewmaster" Boulderbasher. Please check my previous post for background and crunch.
I haven't done gear yet, but I wanted to talk to you about it. Since I want him to carry a portable set to distill alcohol and a couple of small vats for aging stronger stuff and brewing beer.

Let me know what you think.

Ah, that reminds me! I did want to ask about this when I was selecting the free outfit. My first instinct was the cold weather outfit, because...well...Reign of Winter. However, that doesn't make much sense if the campaign starts in the summer with no character knowledge of the coming cold.

Should we be assuming that characters are unaware of the impending cold weather?

Reign of Winter has a lot of fey right? What would be a good fey race that would fit? Yes I know most of the fey are probably the enemy, but am curious as to what would be a good fey race to be. I would just have to write why my fey isn't evil.

I may seem to be overtrying, but I'm trying to think of some interesting themes that seem to go well with the game.

Class Features
Armor and Shield Proficiency: You are proficient in Light, Medium and Heavy Armor. You are proficient with shields (except Tower Shields).

Weapon Proficiency: You are proficient with all Simple and Martial weapons. Additionally you are proficient with the following weapons: Battleaxe, Pick, heavy; Warhammer

Aura (Core 39): A cleric of a chaotic, evil, good, or lawful deity has a particularly powerful aura corresponding to the deity’s alignment

Favored Weapon (Core 39): You gain proficiency with the favored weapon of your deity (warhammer)

Spontaneous Casting (Core 41): You can channel stored spell energy into cure spells.

Blessings (Su): Each warpriest can select two blessings from among those granted by his deity (each deity grants the blessings tied to its domains). A warpriest can select an alignment blessing (Chaos, Evil, Good, or Law) only if his alignment matches that domain.
Each blessing grants a minor power at 1st level and a major power at 10th level. A warpriest can call upon the power of his blessings a number of times per day (in any combination) equal to 3 + 1/2 his warpriest level (to a maximum of 13 times per day at 20th level). Each time he calls upon any one of his blessings, it counts against his daily limit. The save DC for these blessings is equal to 10 + 1/2 the warpriest’s level + the warpriest’s Wisdom modifier.
If a warpriest also has levels in a class that grants cleric domains, the blessings chosen must match the domains selected by that class. Subject to GM discretion, the warpriest can change his former blessings or domains to make them conform.

Sacred Weapon (Su): At 1st level, weapons wielded by a warpriest are charged with the power of his faith. In addition to the favored weapon of his deity, the warpriest can designate a weapon as a sacred weapon by selecting that weapon with the Weapon Focus feat; if he has multiple Weapon Focus feats, this ability applies to all of them.
Whenever the warpriest hits with his sacred weapon, the weapon damage is based on his level and not the weapon type. The damage for Medium warpriests is listed on Table 1–14. The warpriest can decide to use the weapon’s base damage instead of the sacred weapon damage—this must be declared before
the attack roll is made. (If the weapon’s base damage exceeds the sacred weapon damage, its damage is unchanged.) This increase in damage does not affect any other aspect of the weapon, and doesn’t apply to alchemical items, bombs, or other weapons that only deal energy damage.

[spoiler=blessings]
Earth Blessing
Acid Strike (minor): At 1st level, you can touch one weapon and enhance it with acidic potency. For 1 minute, this weapon emits acrid fumes that deal an additional 1d4 points of acid damage with each strike. This additional damage doesn’t stack with the additional damage from the corrosive weapon special ability.

Law Blessing
Axiomatic Strike (minor): At 1st level, you can touch one weapon and enhance it with the essence of law. For 1 minute, this weapon glows blue, pale yellow, or white and deals an additional 1d6 points of damage against chaotic creatures. During this time, it’s treated as lawful for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. This additional damage doesn’t stack with the additional damage from the axiomatic
weapon special ability.

Rorgar, was born of a merchant family in the five kings mountains where he spent a large amount of his time listening to stories of old and glory, and playing in the snow of the mountain peaks. When his family enrolled him into the school system, he started paying more attention to the armed aspect of his teachings. When he reached his twenties, after the schooling that he received, he entered the church of Torag, where he found a job as a temple guard in Highhelm. For a number of years, he did this job, without ever leaving the area of Highhelm. Due to an increasing amount of banditry on the caravans going to and from the different countries around the five kings mountains, the church was asked to provide some divine guidance to one of the caravans going to Taldor. As the church was reluctant, unless there were guards available, so he was tasked to act as a bodyguard for one of the priests who accompanied the caravan.
This arrangement went well for a couple of years then he asked if on the next caravan, he could take some time to look around on his own, and that he would make is own way back to the five kings mountains after he had a chance to look around on his own, and see how others were treated when he wasn’t guarding someone.
Soon after leaving the caravan at the Taldor capital of Oppara, he made his way south, and eventually found himself in the small village of Heldrin

My Barbarian here was missed from the list, but in hindsight he was easy to miss since I didn't post details from the alias to the thread.

So, here is my submission:

Uruk Meginherd
Male Human (Kellid) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager)
CG Medium Humanoid (Human)
Campaign Trait: Northern Ancestry (originally hails from the Realm of the Mammoth Lords)

Appearance:
A monster of human being, Uruk stands six and a half feet in height and weights nearly three hundred pounds of solid muscle. In almost every way, Uruk is an archetypal Kellid man. He has ruddy skin and shoulder length dark straight hair, deep set brown eyes that are hidden underneath a heavy set brow bone, and a square jaw that seemingly grows out from his massive chest frame.

While not an attractive man in any conventional sense, his pure size and physical prowess makes him a force to reckon with in any room. Though not intentionally, the Kellid man appears to be perpetually scowling and angry, which makes him more even more fearsome looking. He typically adorns himself in very simple garb and nondescript clothes, and hides and furs in all but the warmest of climates. Across his back he carries a massive blade, sturdy and well built, but like all his possessions it is plain and simple in design.

Height 6'5
Weight 268 lbs
Hair Color Black
Eyes Brown

Reference Image

Personality:
For the most part, Uruk is a simple man and finds joy from the smallest pleasures in life. That being said, he is not an unintelligent man by any stretch of the imagination, and is generally wiser than his twenty years might otherwise suggests.

While Uruk can be driven to extreme violence, that is not his natural disposition. Most of his ability has been learned from what was expected of someone of his size and strength in a Kellid tribe. In reality, Uruk is a more decent person than his nature and background might suggest. While violence has always been a simple way to get what he wants, as Uruk as aged he has found that the best outcome in many situations is to leave violence as a last resort instead of the first.

Uruk can be intimidating to approach, but those that get past his frightening exterior will find him to be relatively kind, and loyal beyond all measures. Those that Uruk considers his friends will find that they have a most useful ally if ever their life or liberty is threatened.

I've started his background on the alias tab, but just needs some alterations, so I haven't posted it here... I'll be working on that later this evening.

I am submitting Jaralf. We have a lot of Vikings!

One thing I may revise, Raging Song says any effect that effects bardic performance effects it. I'm wondering if I can take the Maestro of the Society trait that gives 3 extra rounds of bardic performance. (It has bardic performance as a prerequisite.)

"That, uhm, you see.....Well I sure would appreciate it...Sir..."

@Jaralf: As long as it's a valid trait from a Paizo sourcebook, then by all means, do so.

Thank you :). Any feedback on my character would be welcome. I posted his stats and background on the first page of this thread.

Hello,

I must admit I find this thread most intriguing, yet not quite on the level that the DM probably expects. :D

I would like to get a foot in the door... I expect to present a female elven ranger (though I will consider a few other options, such as druid as well - actually my first idea was sorcerer, but high Cha does not fit to the idea of the character I have, whereas high WIS does), CN or NG. Given the bonus on INT I might go for Arcane Archer with primary ranger, secondary wizard. She's gonna be a bit of a recluse who seeks to deepen her understanding of Golarion as a whole and maybe its history. I am not sure whether she comes from the Mierani forst or Kyonin yet, but she's ranger for merely 10 - 20 years and did not do anything that might be described as adventuring before that. I don't want her to be driven by some kind of tragedy, but more by the desire to find a different kind of understanding, that something in the way she used to see the world was, if not wrong, biased and highly circumstantial.

A really charming part of pathfinder is that elves adapt to their environment, so it's gonna be a bright blonde, pale skinned elf, even if she does not come from an environment where that is the typical for an elf.

I still have to work through the player's guide, so I am being a bit vague.

However, what really intrigued me about this thread is the question.
And that question is: "Should I roll or should I use point buy?"
But that's not really the question.
More important is the question behind the question.
"What is the expectancy value?"

(Warning: Serious geek stuff.)
I have an answer to that question, but I am not gonna tell. But I can tell that I will use point buy, that the expectancy value for a single attribute roll without considering the reroll option would be about 12.24, that the standard deviation would be about 2.85. Consequently, statistically correct would be to virtually always reroll (unless your worst roll is a 13 or more). Whether I'd really insist on being statistically correct if my worst roll was a 12 is a different question, of course. The expectancy value I calculated was for the sum of the six resulting attributes - I could have tried to calculate the point buy value, but that would have lead to a quite erratic distribution. Then again... I might try exactly that this afternoon)

I can tell you how I found out, though: http://pastebin.com/cMH1G1Wc
Who knows, maybe I made an error and got it all wrong, or I underestimated the deviation through excessive multiplication of floating point numbers with finite precision (the sanity check did work out, though: all probabilities add up to 1).
:D

I must admit: I just love that kind of riddle.

I would love to join your group. I created Grandma mable for another group but it died after we barley began. I will update her for the additional 5 points on stats tonight. Please let me know if you see anything I should change. Thanks

Dark Archive

Would an Ifrit Skald be acceptable?

Scarab Sages

dotting for interest and will have something up by late tonight if recruitment is still open. Not sure what I will make, but will look over other submissions and figure something out.

GM_Fenwick, I would like to submit Brina Uisgin. She is a NG Half-Elf Witch (Winter archetype). She has an Ermine familiar, named Vivi.

I have used the 25pt buy. Her campaign trait is Failed Winter Witch Apprentice.

I just have to write up a backstory for her (will have that up on her profile by tomorrow). Stats are complete on profile page.

Thank you for your consideration. :)

@spinningdice: Yes!

@EVERYONE: If you posted using an alias that had completed statistics, backstory, etc. without mentioning that it was so, please let me know so I can add you to the list. Many of the characters here were created on the fly and in my "view", so I may be missing some people that already brought pre-made characters to the thread.

The Exchange

Due to time committments that have stretched me thin, I will be withdrawing Hassan from consideration. Hope you have fun in the game!

@Hassan: Sad to see you go. I hope your time constraints will loosen up your schedule for future games. Keep 'em rolling!

Herein I present Brizna, the Irrisen Gnome (Seeker) Fey Sorcerer (male neutral).

He is specialized in enchantment magic, which he loves to use in order to trick others. He survives crafting things in his hometown, which gives him a great insight about how mechanical devices work. Being a seeker he has the trapfinding class feature, so he can do the role of the trapfinder in the group in addition of the use of his magic.

You will find in his character sheet more about his background and built choices.

Good luck everyone!

Yes! The deadline for character applications is this Saturday, so you have plenty of time to create a character for submission to my game.

My submission:

EMBER FANNING
Chaotic Neutral Female Sylph Wizard (Fire Elementalist)

Crunch:
Abilities: Str 15 Dex 18 Con 10 Int 19 Wis 11 Cha 11
Race: Sylph
Alternate Racial Traits: Like the Wind (Speed +5), Air Insight (Summon Monster [air] +2 rounds)

Class: Wizard
Archetype: None
School: Fire
Arcane Bond: Item (Amulet)

Traits: Campaign/Adaptive Magic (UMD +1 and class, Arcana +1), Magic/Pragmatic Activator (Int for UMD)

Feat: Fleet (Speed +5)

Skills (1pt each): Knowledges (Arcana, Geography, Local, Nature, Planes), Spellcraft

Background:
Ember was born in the cold northern land of Irrisen. Exhibiting an affinity for magic from a very young age, she was drafted against her will by the ruling winter witches for training as an apprentice and taken away from her family. She was placed under the tutelage of a harsh disciplinarian winter witch who treated Ember as little better than a slave, and subjected her to many sorts of vile abuses -- verbal, physical, and more. During her training, Ember was repeatedly subjected to cold weather, stripped naked and thrown outdoors, dunked into pools of icy water, tied to blocks of ice. As a result, she developed intense cryophobia, an overwhelming panic at the sensation of cold. After years of effectively torture, Ember clashed with her mentor one final time that resulted in being expelled from her training and exiled entirely from the land of Irrisen. Her family took her back in, and escaped Irrisen with her, taking care of the heavily traumatized early teenage girl. Only once Irrisen was far behind, and there was no turning back, did Ember learn that just before she was expelled, her mentor had decided to draft Ember's younger sister instead, and she still remained in Irrisen, now under the power of Ember's monstrous former teacher.

Years passed, and Ember's family, guided by the girl's intense fear of cold, settled in warmer lands to the south. For Ember, however, the pain of her torture never went away, and the agony was only magnified for knowing that her sister was likely undergoing those very same tortures. Over time, Ember's hate and desire for revenge only grew more intense, driving her to study those matters that would hurt the winter witches most -- the secrets of fire magic. When not being tortured, as well as being heavily motivated, she turned out to be an excellent student, and as she is entering adulthood, she is now a first level fire elementalist wizard ready for action.

Appearance:
Ember is tall at 6'4" and willowy, her build slight and thin. Her skin color is a pale marble white with just a hint of cerulean blue that could be inherent or make-up. Her hair is stark white as well, with a faint silvery sheen. Taken together, she looks quite cold and frosty, which explains well why the winter witches set their eyes on her. But her mastery of fire magic is hinted at by the color of her eyes, which are a smoldering black-red. Her expression is often serious and severe, lacking humor and joy.

Personality:
Ember is Chaotic, which means she's the "I lied" type and not the "my word is my bond" type. She appreciates individuals and individuality over societal order, which makes sense for someone who ended up effectively enslaved and tortured by the societal order in Irrisen. She would rather be an anarchist than bow down to any flag or ruler. She is also Neutral, which means she doesn't go out of her way to hurt anyone else, but doesn't go out of her way to help anyone either. She is largely motivated by whatever benefits her, her family, or her friends. She won't get involved in conflicts unless she can see an angle. Her most fervent desire is revenge, although she is still too afraid to set out on a quest for it. Her greatest fear is cold, snow and ice, which will either send her into a berserk rage or into a near-catatonic state.

Let me know if I missed anything crucial.

5: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 1) = 14 13
6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 6) = 18 16

So i have decided to randomize my charector under the spoiler tag will ne the process.

randomizing:

sex: 1d4 ⇒ 4 even male odd female male
race: 1d7 ⇒ 1 Dwarf!
class: 1d11 ⇒ 7 paladin might be rough so next on list is Ranger.

ranger background background from UC: 1d100 ⇒ 79 hmmm Nightmare slayer

what nightmare: 1d5 ⇒ 3 abberation 1, fey 2, magical beast 3, monstrous humanoid 4, undead 5
monstrous humanoid it is.

non ROW trait will be fearless defiance - +1 trait bonus on all saves vs fear, if save against effect +1 attack bonus versus favored enemies for one round.

Whipping up a dwarven ranger

I had originally randomed up a kitsune would that race be okay? I still plan on finishing Granner, but now the idea of a kitsune is stuck in my head.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 5) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 6) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 4) = 15 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 5) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 6) = 20 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 5) = 17 14

And the reroll:

4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 5) = 13 12

Not a bad showing. I'm thinking about running a human ranger, specced primarily for archery but heavily armed in general. I'll see where the idea takes me.

And a tip from one GM to another, it might help if you tried to parse things by one line, since it draws the page out to be reposting the list as four lines apiece. Writing it out as "Varok von Wolfe, CN Male Half-Orc Bloodrager" comes out neater, and with a visually smaller list it might be easier to catch the applicants you've missed.

Scarab Sages

forgot the reroll not that teh first set wasnt awesome

reroll: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 5) = 21 16 very nice

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 2) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 3) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 4) = 19 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 2) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 2) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 1) = 12 11

reroll lowest 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 5) = 16 15

Presenting my finished character, Hilda Týrsdottir, NG female Human Ranger. To fit the northern setting, she's modeled very much after a Norse concepts of honor and warrior pride.

Character:
Hilda was born to Gunnar Týrson and his wife Eir, a couple of former guardsmen who branched off into the more lucrative craft of fur trading. As capable warriors and hunters, they hunted, trapped, skinned, and sold the pelts of animals out of a traveling cart all across The Lands of the Linnorn Kings and other cold northern regions of Avistan, rarely even venturing into border towns of Irissen, as unsettling as it was, when they thought the coin may be good. They returned to their guard posts in Halgrim when their daughter was born, knowing the cold and bitter life on the road was not a good place to raise a child, who simply couldn't have survived the harsh conditions of winter. When she was old enough to read they started her on swordplay and archery, and she came to learn survival skills, told they were just as important as anything else she could learn. When she was ten the couple once again left their guard positions and brought their daughter with them to hunt and wander. (Campaign Trait: Northern Ancestry)

As she grew amidst the bitter cold, Hilda developed the necessary tools for survival. She learned how to follow tracks, sneak up on animals, set traps, and hunt for her meals. Her skill with a blade was commendable, but it was her prowess with a bow that really made her parents proud. Even over long distances she could hit her mark with ease, eventually making her a very useful part of the family business capable of more than pulling her own weight. She was also taught how to be a prideful and honourable warrior, to be brave and revel in combat, but to hold one's oaths and respect opponents.

But it wasn't meant to be. During one particularly harsh winter when Hilda was seventeen, a band of raiders who claimed the territory as their own came across them and demanded their pelts for warmth. Rather than negotiate a price, they ran her parents through with their blades. Hilda was off checking traps at the time, coming back to find her father dead, her mother clinging desperately to life, and their cart looted. There was barely enough food left to make it to the nearest village, but thankfully some medical supplies to patch her mother up. After burying her father they began a perilous, slow march that took two days, with Eir leaning against her daughter for support.

Eir was left blind in one eye and lame, returning to Halgrim to retire on her savings. Unable to do the job alone, Hilda had no desire to even remain in the cold northern land, leaving home once her mother was as recovered as she would get. Her skills with a bow let her move seamlessly into the profession of mercenary, complimented by her large Ulfen frame. For eight years she's worked as a sellsword, moving from job to job with little sentimentality as she travels Avistan. Much of her spare coin is sent to her mother to keep the family savings from draining too fast and leaving her poor.

She is in Heldren purely by incident. Fresh off the successful completion and payment of a job, she's stopped by the small town to rest for a few days. Big cities don't interest her much, even if it's where the most lucrative jobs are; there's an intimacy with the wilderness in small towns that she likes. The quiet and closeness of nature reminds the nomadic girl of her time in the wild, sometimes going days without seeing civilization, only to come across a small village much like Heldren. A few days in the inn is all she'll need to rest up before embarking on the long journey northwest to Oppara.

Personality:
As an Ulfen raised as a warrior and to live off the land, Hilda was taught the glory of combat. She is a brave and fierce warrior, but honorable, with a sense of fair play and mercy for those who surrender. That said, she herself would almost never surrender, seeing it as cowardly and a dishonor to her name. Due to her affinity for nature and familiar with the wild, she is adept at dealing animals, and though not particularly awkward with humanoids, she seems much more at comfort in nature and away from large cities. Years of playing the part of "Ulfen mercenary" to the hilt has left her gruff; it's an image she cultivates to play off the stereotype for her own benefit, but it doesn't make for good first impressions when not trying to intimidate or impress somebody. Beneath the steely exterior is both kindness and buried tragedy.
