Guys, you already have to remember whose deck this goes back to at the end. Is it so hard to remember that it's also just you that the card benefits? It's not like you're burying it and having to remember. It's face-up on the table.
It's not that remembering the card presents some impossible barrier. It's that the position of the card confuses players. We have a substantial number of veteran players, myself included, who used the card incorrectly because of its unusual board position. That's absolutely something the designers should think about moving forward.

I just don't see that it needs anything beyond a FAQ entry (as opposed to an errata / rewording). Afterall, it does say "to your checks..." not "to checks..."
...But hey, if I'm in the minority here, then why not? It doesn't hurt, I guess.

I disagree that the jolly rogers isnt that hard to remember, especially having it by the ship as designed. We've been playing this game for well over a year now and we still forget to check locations or scenario rules at times. We also completely forget about our ship powers lots of times. Having a card like Jolly Rogers up with the scenario and ship card does increase the likelihood of whoever played it not remembering to use it.

I really think it needs to be errataed either to display in front of you, or affect all characters. While Hawkmoon is correct that there are situations that require memory, none last longer than a turn. While normally there isn't too big of an issue, we run into problems where a game has to be left for a period of time (Oh crud, the dog puked all over the place, he needs to go to the vet now!) Or if two people have the Jolly Roger, and we don't remember which one played it at a given time.
I even remember when my GF and I were looking at the card, I noticed the 'your' phrasing. However, due to the fact that it is not in your play area, there's no reasonable way to maintain an individual connection between card and player. In my opinion, it should fall squarely into the 'cards don't have memory' territory.

There's only two Jolly Rogers. If you had one and your buddy had one, then obviously you each get a d6. There could be a problem if there were three (you had two, your buddy had one, two are next to the ship), but as is, if you can remember that it needs to go back in your deck, you should be able to remember you played it.
My two cents added to yours.

Oh, the awesomeness of the situation had very little to do with whether or not you were right. It was more that you like the products your company makes and that you take time to interact with customers on the message boards (in addition to taking time to help ship customers their packages). So, it is still great.
We just finished Runelords in our home game. Only had to fight Karzoug once because we totally lucked out and he was the last card in the location. Can't get more lucky than that!
Our home game is now two scenarios into Skull and Shackles. I am actually in three different campaigns of S&S. The longest one right now is one that we only play when we go to my friend's cabin for a long weekend of food, wine and gaming. We are halfway through adventure 2. The work campaign of S&S has been on hold while the guys get Wrath out the door, but hopefully we can play today. I believe we are still in the middle of adventure 1.
And for the record, I played Ranzak in the Runelords campaign. In the three S&S campaigns, I am playing Oloch in our home campaign, Seltyiel in the vacation cabin one, and Jirelle in the work campaign.

YES! Ranzak is THE best. So much fun, so much loot, so much running away.
Funny thing is that my Ranzak was actually pretty darn good at fighting. I had some incredible ranged weapons along with Blessings of Erastil. There were times that HE was chosen to take down the villain when we had a choice. I bet I used his pass a monster off to somebody else at the location only a handful of times. 5 or 6 max.
Now, plowing through a location and racking up lots of wonderful booty! THAT Ranzak was really good at.

I played him in Rise of the Runelords with both Harsk and Merisiel. They both got first go at the weapons ahead of Ranzak, in return Ranzak got to follow Harsk around and send him all the combats.

Well unless your son is the one palying Ranzak, you as Lirianne are trying to sail this ship to the harbor, and you wonder why all the sharks are closing on you and you never get to find any firearms.
Just kidding...
