If you can, your GM should hang up his shield and let someone else do the job. The bottle doesn't work this way, anyway.

There is also a 10% chance (91–100) that the efreeti of the bottle grants three wishes. In either case, afterward the efreeti disappears forever, and the bottle becomes nonmagical.

Isn't there also a chance that the efreeti breaks free?

There is a chance that the Efreeti can break free from the bottle when you summon it (1 percent on the die I think). Normally when summoned the Efreeti will obey your commands to it's fullest extent for a set amount of time before going back into the bottle.

With my luck the efreet would break free the first time I opened the bottle.

Ok that makes sense to me it's powerful but dangerous and use with caution

Depends on how long they've been in there. Traditionally they decide to grant wishes to whoever frees them only every other century. Otherwise they're just mad as hell and want to kill you.

Liranys, the way you have previously described your luck you'd break the bottle releasing the efreet at the most inopportune time giving control of it to the BBEG.

Liberty's Edge

There are a lot of mechaics that work differently in there.

01 - 10 = Item disenchanted; insane efreeti that attacks anyone near

11 - 90 = Item remains intact; Efreeti servant for 10 minutes that day

91 - 100 = Item disenchanted; Efreeti that grants 3 wishes

Given the alignment of the typical Efreeti (Lawful Evil), would you even want to make three wishes? Would you even remain alive/free/sane long enough to make all three wishes?

Meh, that's a standard trope. Your first wish should always be "do me no harm."

"Done, my associates however, are not bound by this."

If you're going to allow players access to an item with wish then you probably shouldn't be a dick about letting them use as long as their requests are reasonable.

Otherwise, just don't give them an item that has Wish in it.

I prefer to think of it as holding bestiary entries to their alignment. That said, Efreeti don't have the Evil subtype, which means that finding Efreeti of variant alignments is very well within the realm of possibility.

If I have a lawful evil efreeti/hobgoblin/aasimar/dragon/aristocrat offering players assistance, it's just due process that they be careful.

Same applies if they were taking wishes from a Glabrezu.

"True tests never end," is the appropriate phrase I believe.
