Sorry, did not see this thread, so I made a thread about it but may as well post it here too, before I submit it to CS. (Edit: I deleted the thread I made about it)

The second month of game time seems to be missing on my Adventurer Account. I was wondering if this was overlooked. It sais One Month Game Time Quantity 1, while Adventurer should get two (they got a second month as bonus during the kickstarter).

This account has been created with an Adventurer Reward that I sent from one of my original Kickstarter accounts. All the other perks and bonusses like DT and Shieldmate and such are there, so that looks fine. However, it also mentions that I have an Alliance pack on this account, which is not part of the Adventurers tier, but of the more expensive Crowdforger tier. So that is a reward that should not be there.

For those that want to check the rewards that came with the pledge tiers:

Thanks for this update, much appreciated.

I think there is an error on the pledge guide. The bonus month of time was described in Update #1 as:

"To celebrate our fantastic launch, we're announcing that we're enhancing the Crowdforger Pioneer, Buddy and Guild levels by adding an additional 4th month of subscription time to the 3 months already included in the package!"

We put the Alliance Pack into the Open Enrollment package on the goblinworks.com store and it seemed wrong to give it to those people and not to the Kickstarter backers so I had Taylor add it to all Open Enrollment accounts.

I also just checked an Original Adventurer Kickstarter account that I have upgraded to an EE account through the Goblinworks store some time ago, and this account only has 3 months of Game time.

I guess the +3 months of the store EE purchase overruled the +2 from the Adventurer tier, rather then added to it. I was hoping it would total to 4, tmatching the amount of an original Crowdforger EE account; 5 would have been a bit too much probably. ;)

Either way, I think it will avoid confusion if it is made clear that when people upgrade their original Adventurer account with an store EE pledge, that they only get the 3 months.

I just noticed "Character Name Reservation: 1" on my account. Is there a system for that now, or is it Coming Soon?

CEO, Goblinworks

@Tyncale - the bonus month is only for Kickstarter rewards. An upgraded Enrollment via one of the stores overwrites that bonus month.

CEO, Goblinworks

@Karlbob - the system is coming soon.

Hi Ryan, I have a guild account (so I didn't personally do a transaction on Kickstarter). How do I designate my shield mate?

I can not find any specific announcement in the kickstarter about the Adventurer tier getting another month, but I remember that Pledge sheet very well. There were huge updates to the Adventurer tier in update #25 and #26 though and I think that was around the time that the Pledge sheet appeared on the Home page too(as a link).

However, more important is the fact that the Adventurer Pledge Level in the Pledge Manager specifically states, and I quote: "TWO month game subscription" in the rewards listing. So by that time any mistakes should have been corrected: this was more then 5 months later.

Pictures say more then words so here is a screencapture of that specific Adventurer Reward level in the Pledge Manager, when it was still around(spread over 2 pictures):

Top half of Adventurer level reward listing in Pledge Manager

Bottom half of Adventurer level reward listing in Pledge Manager

Based on this listing, I (and probably others)also bought Adventurer reward Addons.

Btw, I noticed that the Pledge sheet on the PFO Kickstarter page can not be reached anymore, I get an error trying to download it. Also the Pledge Manager is no more.

Since I know that the internet can be "forgetfull" at times, I tend to make pictures. (not because I am an suspicous sob, off course) :)

I'm researching the +1 month now.

Shieldmate assignments are closed. They had to be done in the Pledge Manager. Right now there is no plan to re-open that process but we may find time to do something with it in the future closer to Open Enrollment.

Hmm. I did complete the pledge manager, but I don't recall it asking me to assign a shieldmate. Should I direct queries about whether or not I'm good to go to the customer service mailbox?

Either way, I can deal, but not knowing is going to needle the back of my mind. :(

I also didn't get an inquiry about Shieldmate when filling out the Pledge Manager... I didn't realize we had to do it right then.

Can anyone see whom they picked as Shieldmate? I also don't remember selecting, but I don't always trust my memory for this sort of thing.

No, I do not think so.

This discussion took place in Februari 2014, long after the Pledge Manager closed:

"Proxima Sin" asked: When are you planning on attaching shieldmate accounts?

"Ryan Dancey" answers: @ Proxima Sin - TBD

Here: Shieldmate accounts still had to be attached after the Pledge manager closed.

In that thread there was a whole lot of confusion about what Shieldmate actually did, to whom.

I know that Pledge Manager as the back of my hand and there was never an option to choose your Shieldmate already.

Goblin Squad Member

I wasn't even sure that I had shieldmate until today.

I did everything the pledge manager requested the first time it opened, I never got asked to assign shield mates.

That's pretty annoying after pushing us out of the pledge manager in a hurry without any indication that if we didn't do some things it wouldn't happen for a year or more. We've got people who scrambled through because they'd never even realized the pledge manager existed and were suddenly told the rough equivalent of "Do it by the end of the week or the world will end for you."

It is not true, Caldeathe, Ryan is misstaken on this. With that whole discussion in Februari about what Shieldmate would actually do(to whom), it was clear that it would be some time before this perk would make it into the game.

Reading the description of Shieldmate, you also get the vibe that it is something that players can use to lure a friend into the game who could not be part of the original KS. In that regard, hurrying people into choosing their Shieldmate only 5 months after the KS, does make much less sense.

Goblin Squad Member

1. Ditto for me on the shieldmate. Would have been nice to have a chance to assign that.
2. Is there going to be a system to assign benefits? I bought two Twice-marks, one for me and one for my gf. I want to be able to assign that at some point.

Goblin Squad Member

Yeah, bought a guild pack and never saw the shieldmate assignment in the account management system.

We don't yet have the tool we need to move things from one account to another, but it's coming.

A couple of comments re: Shieldmates

The Daily Deals are unlikely to be added to the game before Open Enrollment. The biggest issue involving the Shieldmate system is the idea that whomever you Shieldmate gets the Daily Deals dating back to when you joined the Kickstarter. So we have more than a year to work on this problem before the most significant part of it has to be finalized.

The combat bonus is not going to be something that will make or break anyone's experience. Yes, it will be nice to have, and yes, people will be glad to get it, but it's not on the critical path to making the game run smoothly and fulfill its design objectives. Ensuring that everyone who is eligible for the Shieldmate bonus gets it is not a high priority for the company right now.

Giving people the ability to offer, and accept, a shieldmate invitation is not trivial, but it is also no ridiculously complex. If, when we have some time to review our progress on that feature, we decide that it makes good sense to rebuild a system to let those invitations be offered and accepted, we'll do it. But I'm not going to ask the team to detask from the critical path to worry about that right now.

Goblin Squad Member

Ryan Dancey wrote:

Emphasis added. So the system existed previously, and so many of us missed it; that's disappointing...and mystifying.

Most people tend only to complain if something is missing

Just to be on record:

I seem to have $15 too much as I shouldn't have credit left - will spend it on something I won't need if it stays
I got a few figures surplus as part of my Guild Forger

I was also late with the printed Emerald Spire - nearly had given up - and all got sorted when I visited GenCon

I know from experience how painful it is to get all this sorted once something goes wrong. So just a thank you for all the effort so far. And I guess more often people have more then less.

CEO, Goblinworks

I was 99% sure there was a shieldmate matching function in the Pledge Manager but I may very well be wrong about that. :)

I can confirm that there was Shieldmate matching function in the Pledge Manager.

It was on the person who bought it to give them your email so you could match it, as I was given my shieldmate.

Goblin Squad Member

Which was kinda pointless at the time unless you had joined kickstarter as part of a pre-existing group who already knew they were going to party together..

CEO, Goblinworks

The purpose of the Shieldmate promotion was to encourage people who had already backed the Kickstarter to recruit friends to back it as well. So it wasn't pointless at the time - you should have offered the Shieldmate to the person you recruited to back the project.

ah ... well in the end they did not sign up till a few months back, well after kickstarter :D

Goblin Squad Member

I believe there was a mechanism for matching Shieldmates in the Pledge Manager. The part that I believe is a mistake is the statement that "Shieldmate assignments are closed. They had to be done in the Pledge Manager. Right now there is no plan to re-open that process..."

The shieldmate item just doesn't seem all that clear to me...

Will you need to invite someone to be your shieldmate before Early Enrollment, before Open Enrollment, or will this option remain indefinitely after that?

@Keovar - You can wait forever to make an invitation

My wife and I both pledged in the Kickstarter the very first day. There was no point in linking to each other, and there was strong assurance that we'd be able to link Shieldmates at any time in the future.

From February of this year, a very clear indication that there would still be a way to link Shieldmates in the future:

If you're worried about how this rule ultimately works out, don't offer the Shieldmate relationship to another account until the rule is finalized.

CEO, Goblinworks

Yeah I agree - looks like we'll need to work on that tool when the time is appropriate.

Because no human being can remember everything they have ever heard, said, done, seen, etc?

Thanks, Ryan. Here is a quote from you in the Comment section of the Kickstarter about this that may explain why you think it had to do with an error in the Pledge Guide.

Quote:
@Crystal - The Pledge Guide was in error. I have fixed it. You get 1 month of game time +1 month bonus game time as an Adventurer, and 3 months game time +1 month bonus game time for all Crowdforger levels.

2 months for the Adventurer pledge

You are correcting a wrongfull assumption here of a certain Crystal who writes this:

Quote:
In the pledge guide it says the $35 level gets 1 month of game time + 1 bonus month of game time. The $100 level says it gets "all adventurer ($35 level) benefits", and goes on to say 3 months of game time +1 bonus month of game time. So does the $100 level get 5 months of game time (3 for pioneer plus 1 for adventurer plus 1 total bonus) or six months of game time (3 for pioneer plus 1 for adventurer plus 1 bonus listed under adventurer and 1 bonus listed under pioneer)? I am assuming 5, and that the bonus month listed in both is the same single bonus month, but thought I'd ask to be clear.

She thinks the Gametime months of Adventurer and Crowdforger levels should add up as per the pledge description

That was obviously a wrong assumption of her, so you correct her by stating that it is 2 months for the Adventurer level, and 4 months for the Crowdforger level.

So the pledge sheet is not wrong, there was just confusion about the description of the pledges and how they add up.

CEO, Goblinworks

Adventurer pledges (both Rewards and Add-Ons) should now have 2 months of game time.
