Recruitment

Chaos, has returned.
Takhisis, the Dark Queen, is so close to conquering all of Krynn. Her knights conquered a vast majority of the land before a response could be raised. The Solamnic knights, and their stronghold, had fallen to the Knights of Takhisis. But, just as she was nearing her end game, Chaos appears. And with him, his fell beings of chaos.

The last stronghold of opposition, The High clerics tower, once the bastion of the Solamnic knights, and until recently never fallen to an enemy force, is now in the hands of the Knights of Takhisis.

But the victory is short lived, for the fell chaos creatures have descended upon the clerics tower. Many Knights of Takhisis fought, and died, defending this tower. But all of them, died for naught. For the forces of chaos were too many.

But, hope is not lost, for hidden deep in the depths of the tower, a squad of Knights of Takhisis and a group of Solamnic Knights prisoners.
Deciding that the fate of Krynn is greater than their mere differences, both groups decide to join forces and advance upon Chaos in a final attempt at salvation.

Mounting their respective dragons, blues for the knights of tahkisis, and silver for the Solamnics, they flew forth and entered the rift into the Abyss far out at sea.

Enroute they fought various foes, flame dragons, shadow wights, chaos cravens, and so on. Though few in number, no more than 2 score, each man gave his all to the bitter end.

Finally, with a blaze of light, and the appearance of a Kender, Chaos was destroyed.

But how? how did 40 men defeat the likes of Chaos, who is on par with the rarely mentioned High God? He had an infinite horde at his disposal, but still was defeated.

This is an adventure based off of the movie "edge of tomorrow", in which the protagonist

spoiler alert:
lives and dies repeatedly to defeat an alien foe
.

To make this simple, i WILL NOT be using the dragonlance rules for characters, specifically the Knights. And none of the High Wizards rules either. I will instead be using the pathfinder character classes, but with some exceptions.
No BASE Classes (alchemist, cavalier, gunslinger, inquisitor, magus, oracle, summoner, witch)
No Hybrid classes
no alternate classes

now, for the rest of the Character creation rules:

level 1
max HPs
point buy 25
traits: 1
Gear: dont worry about it. you'll be able to get gear later on.

special rules:
To be considered a knight of Takhisis, you have to be
male
human
any melee class, sorcerer or wizard, and/or cleric

To be considered a Solamnic Knight, you have to be
Male
Human or Half Elf(hidden well)
Any melee class, and/or cleric

If you want to play something else, like dwarf or full elf, im open to it, but you wouldnt be a true knight.
If you want to play a Kender, im going to say no. No kender.
If you want to play a half-orc, that might be a little trickey to pull off with gaming. i could try it, but if its too unmanagable with the way im going to run this, then i will ask you to make a different pc.

the adventure will start at the battle for the High clerics tower, and will culminate at the repulsion of Chaos.

Other rules:
Sanity
The repetition process will put a strain on the most willful of minds, causing mental defects. Dementia, insanity, extreme fears, distrust and more will all be side effects of the length.

It works like this:
every time you repeat, you make a fort or will save (your choice at the start) equal to 10+ the total number of sanity points youve earned.

When you go up a level, you roll a d6 and earn that many points
When you willingly end the cycle, you earn a point

i will be creating feats to help offset these effects. just havent thought of them yet.

So if I'm reading this correctly, we are to choose from the core classes. If we wish to be a true knight we must follow the criteria stated above.

What about archetypes? Are we still allowed to use those?

Dark Archive

Curious about that as well. What about Paladins and Monks?

I believe that both of those would fall under the Melee class category that he posted.

@joshua: correct.

@adsapiens: both are considered melee with some perks, lol.

It seems like a human paladin would be a cool option, but the melee thing now got me wondering about archers etc... Anyway, not my gig. I'll keep an eye on the thread, ready it more and maybe come out with a human pally :)

Well, I have to admit, it does sound interesting. That being said, is the archetype thing cleared up? Can we use archetypes?

yes. ill allow the archetypes.

Ah, here's the recruitment page :-). I'll create a character soon.

Rizzen is a great GM! Challenging, creative, and fair. I am fortunate to be in one of his games. I highly recommend anything he runs!

I'm not familiar with the Dragon Lance campaign setting, though I can read up on it before playing.

I was thinking of creating a Paladin, either Divine Hunter or Shining Knight archetype. So, either an archer or lancer if you have a preference. Are we starting off with dragons?
