Autotargeting, what do you think of it?

I find the autotargeting feature troublesome.
It has killed my at least as many time as it has saved me.

We need to be able to set its priorities.

Something like:
Select nearest threat: yes/no
Prioritize ranged enemies: yes/no

and the most important of all:
Target enemies within the range of your current weapon first. yes/yes

To often I have found myself targeting an archer while I was wielding a melee weapon and was being killed by melee combatants

What's even better is when it targets the healer in your party, because it can't distinguish between helpful and harmful spells.

There are some refinement to do in that regard yes. As being a bit deficient in the area of hand-eye coordination I would indeed enjoy some... improvement.

Diegos suggestions are sound I think, and the healing malarkey is tantamount to a bug.

It needs to stop targeting nodes: "Sorry you died, I didn't realise I was killing this uninteresting plant behind me."

There needs to be a way to target the target of your target. In a group I need a simple way to target what the puller is targeting. I need to be able to target the puller with an F key, then click a key to target what he is targeting:
"Ok, I'm going to pull the bonedancer skeleton"
"The one on the right?"
"No, the one on the left"
"ok"
"pulling!"
...
Waaargh! Burst! Shred!
...
Meet up back at the shrine.
"Why did you pull those mobs from over there?"
"You said the one on the left!"
"I meant the one on the left of the one on the right, not the one on the left of the group slightly behind the hill to the left of the uninteresting plant!"

I'd prefer they wait to implement this until formation combat, and only then if formation combat offers things that make focus fire a less powerful tactic.

I feel like until then, making it require manual targetting will make the usual insta-death via focus fire aspect of group PVP a bit less powerful. ESPECIALLY in a game where focus healing isn't viable due to having to be in melee range of the target (Can anyone say AoE bait?)

Possibly, but it does feel like they are re-inventing the wheel. I don't think I have played an MMO without auto-follow and target of target (although it might have been done by a script on a hotkey in at least one of them).

For sure. I think making all healing abilities melee range was a poor design choice for an MMO even if that's how the TT works but if they are going to run with that then they need to nerf focus fire a bit from the standard format.

I think the most annoying is the one where the tab cycles though the ranged enemies including bandit recruits that are not even aggroed and totally ignores the 4 ogre warriors beating on you with great clubs.
