Life spirit gets a channel and witch doctor archetype also gets a channel. So shaman alone can have two pools of channel.

so as i have read through the shaman and withcdoctor . i have added things up and at 7th lvl he would have 14 channels at 4d6 or 6d6 . i'm unsure how they stack as far as dice . i know he gets 3+chr mod and 1 + chr mod channels but since the dice are different do they indeed stack as it would seem ? This is in the same class so i take it the Raw or faq on channelign doesnt apply sicne it isnt stacking from two different class but via two sources within the same class .
no, Channel energy would never stack. He would have 4+cha uses to heal 2d6, which is like a lv4 cleric. He's also have 1+cha uses to heal 4d6, which is the like a lv7 cleric. They don't stack because it's different sources, the faq still applies.

yes so he would have 3+chr (5) for 8 channels of 2d6 from witchdoctor .. then 1 + chr (5) for channels of 4d6 from shaman with life spirit . Which totals 16 .. so a phylactery of pos channeling would make this 8 channels of 4d6 and 6 channels of 6d6 .. sounds like a great healer type to me . that is what he wants to play is a healer who is able to buff and do some fun things with hexes
yup you have it right. I just hope he has fun. Healing can quickly turn unfun as you can feel like you're not doing anything cool or fun. so hopefully it works out for you player.

well as i looked over his char he has fun things like stardust from heavens spirit as well as curse of suffering hex and a couple other neat fun things actually . all in all he has given me a mind to build my daughter of serenrae build I've been trying to figure out a way to do . Can you imagine taking witchdoctor/ heal spirit and flame spirit and not only being able to heal well but also have a way to do dmg with fire spells . i may indeed have to look into this lolol .. anyhow thank you for all the help
ohh one more thing .. i ruled that when he takes extra channel feat it only effects one of them .. not sure thats right but if not it would get super rediculus as far as his channels go .
Close. It affects one of them, but the player doesn't have to pick until using those extra uses.
FAQ on Extra Channel and multiple sources of channel
Realistically, the player is usually going to pick whichever source has more dice, so it works out to the same thing as you said--two extra uses of channel energy per day. It only matters if, for example, the player has one source with variant channeling and one without, or one source of positive and one source of negative; then the player has some versatility as to how to use those extra channels.

Wow, I'm really surprised they made it possible for one class to provide two separate channel energy abilities.

does the witchdoctor shaman who takes life actually get two seperate sources of channels . One from being a witchdoctor at char level -3 cleric for 3+chr mod channels a day. the other from life spirit shaman ability as 1 + chr mod at actually char level as cleric . This thread is posted to get a faq on it

The best way to get developer attention on an issue is to concentrate the FAQ requests onto a single topic. So if you look at my previous post and click that link, and then FAQ that topic, we should be in better shape.
For now, since you're doing a homebrew, you should feel free to make it work in whatever way makes sense to you. That's the easiest thing to do for now.
