"Well I do...I mean I have had some contact with the spirits before. A couple of them have been my closest friends and companions since...well, from a long time ago, and they helped me through a difficult time in my life," Riel replies with a sheepish grin, which breaks into a full guffaw at Carious' joke
"Alas, it appears that this is where our spirited discussion has taken us. Well then...to the spirits...to all the various kinds of spirits?" he asks as he raises his tankard.
Suny |
XD
Suny giggles brightly, catching the gist of how the conversation has gone.
"May that Rum never be gone!" She adds her best effort to the toasting. (^_^)
"I bin shown some defendin' of m'self, an all." She nods and explains happily. "May-hap a few days away we can all have a go at showin' each other whut t'is we do?" She offers.

Wow. Good job everyone. Way too good. You are making it a hard choice for the players.
One thing that I would recommend to players, is that if you play NG, you consider yourself a lot more nuetral, and a lot less good... otherwise you will find yourself missing out on a lot of campaign stuff, some really good rp, and also might put you at odds with the rest of your party. Remember, you WANT to be pirates for whatever reason (gold, infamy, intrigue, etc) per the S & S players guide.
Great RPing, and I am starting discussions to see who the players want to invite. We are going to call it here as far as submissions. We have enough great PCs to choose from. :) Thank you all. :)

As far as I go, I see it this way. I definitely do want to be out in the open seas, looting and pillaging and attacking (mostly for the fame though)... Just trying to do so against targets that the good folk won't miss, like slavers, corrupt merchants, Chelaxians (okay, maybe the Chelaxians would miss Chelaxians, but no one else) and other pirates.
Maybe if that doesn't work as a character motivation in the long run, Aklyd would slip further and further into neutrality when she realizes that she LIKES pillaging and not only against the aforementioned targets. A privateer's descent into pirating. :)

Waking up after a relatively short night, Alkyd stumbled from her bed upstairs all the way to a nearby stream to freshen up. After this, she stretches, now fully awake, and with only the slightest of hangovers, and heads back to the tavern where she surprisingly sees that some of the new members were still here. Perhaps the gods are telling me that this is to be my crew... Or perhaps my ruling council.
"Ahoy there! What keeps you all here for so long? Normally people leave by the time I'm done with two night of drinking." She sits down with a smile. "Not that I mind of course."
Travis Brogan |
Travis slips back into the tavern from his nightly digs. He walks steadily again and now carries an almost empty whiskey bottle. His cloak billows about him, and the hood still guards his features from general view. A hint of a smile is visible though when he spots Alkyd and Sunny. He walks over to them and pulls up a chair.
"Mmm.. morning ladies. Alkyd.. Sunny... hope you rested well. Something is in the air, I think. I feel... regenerated, awake and alert."
Brayden Green |
Linky ta' tha' thingy on this D20 place, please! (^_^)
Sunny, there isn't a way to give you a link to our game that isn't an actual invite, but I can link you to the homepage and it has a few tutorial videos on the homepage :)
I think that Paizo blocks it as a link, so just type in roll20.net and it will take you there.
Travis Brogan |
"Something with adventure to it might just mean a ship coming in looking for hands. I'd dearly love a job right now! Experienced sailor AND cook here!" He says these last two sentences loudly enough to carry through the tavern in case there's any here looking for crew. He looks around the room hopefully to see if any one appears interested, but the other patrons seem to all be hopefuls like himself, not hirers. He softly sighs. "Can't blame a guy for trying."
Travis Brogan |
"Might be hard on your back, but it's worse on your face, Carious," Travis says as he sees the imprint of the wood grain of the bar on Carious' cheek and temple.
"I like the idea of taking a ship from slavers." He looks about the place...as if trying to tell slavers from general pirates. "Sadly, they don't wear uniforms, nor fly 'slaver' flags... hard to tell them from any other legitimate merchant on the seas, til after you board them." Travis speaks as someone who's perhaps been there, done that.
"Luckily, the bar hasn't run out of the stuff, even if you have, good man." He turns to the bartender and calls out, "Another round for my friend here." He pays for Carious' next drink, as it can't hurt to earn the favor of the god of drink by treating his servants.

Just want to update you, and not string anyone on. I know how hard it is to rp for a spot, but it sounds like some companionships have been made here regardless of who gets picked, which is nice for consolation.
We are in the process of picking and deciding. We hope to have a decision by tonight or tomorrow (still waiting on some input from the rest of the party).
You are all wonderful, and I/we are having a tough time deciding. Thank you for your admissions and I respect your game and time. I would be happy to have any of you in the game, so the players can't go wrong in my opinion.
Thanks again, and hope to have updates as soon as possible, and we are shooting for a monday start time for the game. Might get there, might not. This is the first step.
:Ri'el: |
Exiel smiles as the sounds of the early-morning conversations waft into his room. He had asked for the closest room to the taproom in order that he might not miss out on any announcements about hiring opportunities, but it was also good to wake to the sounds of conversations of the rather interesting individuals he had met the night before.
"I could do alot worse for fellow crew-members," he thinks to himself with a smile.
Collecting his meagre belongings, he opens the door to his room and makes his way towards the others, dodging a couple of hungover patrons along the way.
"Good morning, gentlemen, milady. I see you're all up early."
Travis Brogan |
"You're all very chipper for this early in the morning... I for one need a little kaf to greet the day... or tea if kaf isn't available..." Travis looks to the barkeep and orders a steaming glass of kaf. He pours in a little of his whiskey as well to 'sweeten' it.
"Might as well enjoy it while I can... it's not something readily available at sea."
Alkyd Bier |
"I didn't know it was so popular there... might make it worth raiding Chelaxian ships at that, though they do tend to be better manned and better defended than simple merchant ships." Travis takes a sip of his hot kaf and sighs with satisfaction... "Now THAT's good."
She nods grudgingly. "Yes, my countryman certainly are more prepared for fights than the norm. Perhaps there should be a hierarchy of ships we could potentially attack. Corrupt merchants and petty slavers on the bottom, my countrymen in the middle along with unaligned pirates and at the very top being pirate groups, and corrupt lords.
Yes... Perhaps she was enjoying the thought a bit too much. She had no problem doing this... But she had to keep focussed! Justice came first, and then riches and fame... Though those two things certainly helped.
:Ri'el: |
Ri'el gives a bemused smile at Alkyd's bold proclamation.
"Whilst I admire your gusto, pirate groups and corrupt lords tend to be formidably defended. And though I favour your choice of targets in general, we will probably need to start with more modest pickings and build up our resources and manpower. And since corrupt merchants and petty slavers don't exactly advertise themselves...we may regrettably need to take whatever pickings we can get. Hopefully with as little bloodshed as possible."
"That said, if you already know of corrupt merchants and petty slavers whom we can take on off the proverbial bat, I would be quite eager to mark them as our first targets. Well, if we can get ourselves a ship and a crew, that is."
The idealist vs the pragmatist. XD
:Ri'el: |
Ri'el smiles at Sven's proclamation.
"When in the wilds, your priorities are water, shelter and food in that order, though depending on the climate and ambient temperature shelter may become more of a priority than even water. Generally a man can survive up to 3 weeks without food but only about 3 days without water, and that's assuming shelter and no exertion. When you're actively trying to find food, shelter and water with the sun beating down on your head, you're more likely to last little more than a day without water and maybe 2 weeks without food, though you'd be thoroughly spent in the second week. Exposure in the worst circumstances can kill you in a night, but in these parts, the danger is more getting soaked by rain by day and freezing from the subsequent cold by night. With the constant rains in the shackles, I'd estimate that exposure would take you in a week. When at sea and facing a lack of clean water, the most common and most fatal error one can make is thinking that drinking sea water would be better than nothing, because the salt in the water would dehydrate you even quicker."
Ri'el winks cheerily at the large Ulfen.
"Not all of us would be helpless outside our cities, my good man."
Suny |
Suny yawns... then begins to uncurl from the spot in the rafters she's climbed up into when sleep called to her.
Acrobatics:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
"EEEP! Completely forgetting she isn't in a tree back home as she lands on the table in the middle of every one.
*BUMP!*
"Owwie!" (>_<) She twists as she begins to rub at her sore spot....
Alkyd Bier |
Alkyd frowns a bit at Ri'el's sense of realistic approaches. "You do have a point... though the heroes in song and legend tend to be bold, and take what they want... then again, they also tend to be lucky. Ah, you're right. I suppose this is why when I officially become Captain, a ruling council will be good. I sure can lead the men, lead diplomacy talks and inspire morale, but I am lacking slightly in wisdom... perhaps not too much, as I realize this, but enough, that I need help sometimes." She bares a bright smile. "Of course, What I lack in wisdom, I make up for in knowledge! As a bard we had to memorize many stories that would be practical in a variety of situations"
She gives a concerned glance to Suny. "Are you okay lass?"
:Ri'el: |
Ri'el grins at Alkyd's talk of songs and legends.
"Heh. If there's one thing I've learnt in my brief life, it is that songs and legends have a tendency to be exaggerated. After all, people want to hear of how the mighty hero overpowered the evil warlord through skill and cunning, not that he snuck in through the cistern, disguised himself as the latest concubine and gave the half-blind codger a lap-dance before shanking him from behind. Don't get me wrong, I love a good tale as much as anyone. It's just that...life tends to be a little more drab than stories would lead you to believe."
And life gave me reasons aplenty to lose faith in legends long ago. Where were the heroes wh....
Before Ri'el could dwell any further his melancholic memories, he is interrupted by the large thump made by the falling elf from above. He stares wide-eyed at Suny for a moment before turning to Alkyd with a raised eyebrow.
"Then again, Alkyd, if you have a legend or two about elves that fall from the sky, I might be inclined to believe them today."
Suny |
Suny continues to wake up, nodding and smiling at her friends who are showing concern for her welfare.
Aye.. I git's sleepy... an'..." She frowns a little as the cloudy memories jumble around inside her blonde mopped head, "Ah! I think'a whut ye do in'a strange place!" (^_^)
"Sooo.... I climbed up there," She points to the rafters, "Where it were nice an' warm an' snuggly an' comfy an' went ta' sleep." (^_^) She finishes with a proud grin at her resourcefulness. Then frowns again as she twists and turns, rubbing at her bumps,
"But, I forgets when I waked up an' faw down..." She blinks at Ri'el.
"I din't fall from sky. I fall from up there." And she points again. Then continues to yawn, stretch and flex as she wakes fully.
"Whut we havin' fer eatin'?" She asks.
