Dotting with intense interest! I have several ideas - possibly reprising my role as Lord Donovan Vossler, a disgraced nobleman and antipaladin whose devil-worshipping noble house was discovered and rooted out of the city's elite in a night of blood and magical strife. Those who survived were executed or imprisoned, and with the fall of the house of Vossler, the family's favored son and champion of the Prince of Hell swears vengeance upon the city which rejected his dark lord.
I am also contemplating a fetchling Shadow Caller summoner, whose shadow is possessed by a powerful devil. When the devil is active, the shadow tears itself from its master and attacks his foes as an eidolon, but when it slumbers, dark dreams emerge forth from it to take the form of the caster's summon monster spell-like ability.

Nohwear, you might want to look at the Scarred Witch Doctor. You can combine with urban barbarian to control the rage for Con too. It's a funny witch to play. The beast bonded witch however is the most ridiculous witch ever... I don't even usually allow on my games. I like the idea of an evil children cooking witch with cauldrons because of all the story possibilities, although way of the wicked might not be the ideal campaign for it (just my humble opinion of course... Whatever comes I'm sure will be fun to see). Cheers

Gah. I shouldn't try writing posts up in the space between waking up and trying to catch my bus to school. But, it does give you a glimpse into what I like to think is the most charming part of being in a game I run; I'm a shambling human mess.
@Nemenia: I'd probably go with the suggested revision. It seems a lot more sensible to me.
@Wade: My Wrath of the Righteous group has four Aasimar in it, so it's largely down to wanting different things in this one.
@DM Aron Marcyzlo: By my reading of what is asked of you, no, I don't see how you'd make the whole Lamashtu thing work. It's not quite a "swear into service" so much as a "swear to", period.
@Gabriel: Path of the Devil looks fine. Backstory is the sort of thing where it gets really tedious giving confirmation to every passable backstory, so unless I take issue with anything assume it's fine. Although I don't automatically read backstories when posted, just because there's often a lot of text and I come back after a few hours to multiple people posting. Generally, you'll know if something is wrong just fine.
@Olmek: For now, only one. That might change, but for the momnent that's where we are. Unlike Wrath of the Righteous I'm recruiting by roles instead of Path, which means less chance of being really thin in one direction.
@Nohwear: Arcane casters begin with a day's worth of spells prepared, but that's it. Anything past that will have to wait until you're out of the prison. I imagine cannibalism would qualify as murder. Just, special murder. The kind that brings you to special hell.

Well if aasimars won't be getting looked at I will sadly bow out. Its just an integral part of my character with him being destined for greatness by his father but falling to lowest level thing. .
And I just don't have the will to make another character save some half brained half crazed bard based off kefka.

"Oh I'm gonna go to the special hell." One of my favorite episodes!
But here's a Gnome Bard (Prankster) that I'm working on. I'm working on writing out the background and stuff. But the basic idea is that he was a minor noble in court, who grew to worship Asmodeus. He forged a seditious letter from a high ranking official that had been getting in his way. The letter was supposedly a request for an assassin to kill the king. The forgery was discovered and Rentammoran tried to leave before evidence could be obtained pointing to him. He was seen preparing and his suspicious attempt at departure lead those investigating to said evidence.

I'm definitely interested. I'll have a character in the next day or so. It is likely to be a Mutagenic Mauler Brawler. My crime will be High Treason and I'll probably be aiming for lichdom later on. I have been part of a Way of the Wicked campaign before but it was stopped pretty early in the first book we were just about to start our first real objective.
My main skills will be intimidate, diplomacy, and perception as well as having a small sprinkling of other skills all around. I plan on using tripping a little bit and most of my damage will be none lethal (back story will explain) except when it's not possible.

I wonder what kind of penalty to the DC it would be to preform (juggle) if you were to use live Geese.
Firefly, why were you cancled?@spooky: I might rework the character into a kitsune or just quit, haven't decided

Ivy Renauld |
The Emerald Duke presents: Ivy Renauld, slayer and assassin of men.
Her crime: attempted Assassination of the crown princess. (See my backstory for more details on the how's, why's, and what went wrong's.)
I envision her has a heavy damage person, with long term goals in the "order to be established" of forming a cult of assassins (think the Dark Brotherhood from The Elder Scrolls series and you have where I am thinking) to help keep the land cleansed of those who "wrong" the wrong people.
I don't see prestige classes in her future, and while I can see her consorting with vampires I don't see her wanting to become one... at least not off the bat.
I also enjoy Firefly, but my favorite line from that episode is where Mal tells Jane that his "days of not taking you seriously are coming toward the middle".

I've got my fluff done and I'll have my crunch and description of Zadaal up tomorrow.
Zadaal was a weird kid in the orc tribe always thinking that this chaos was not how it should be but rather there should be some sort of order in place. He was also the only child who cared for his "mother" or at least who he thought was his mother as there were too many of the play things to be sure. His mother was forced to do unspeakable things and he was often forced to watch because it amused the Orcs to see him cry. His mother in a rare moment of clarity and while alone with Zadaal said she would help him escape. She instructed Zadaal to grab the key off the wall unlock her and she would run out and cause a distraction he was to run North to the closest city and find a monastery to take care of him. As she kissed her son goodbye and ran into the camp letting him escape he ran North as he was instructed. Once he was on top of a hill about a mile out he turned in hopes he would see his mother. Unfortunately he did he saw her head severed and her body being used as if it were still there. Zadaal ran crying vowing to get his revenge on these chaotic monsters.
Zadaal found a monastery after about a week travailing on the lands. It was in a small town not found on most maps. Once he was let into the monastery and they found he could fight with his fists he was trained in the ways of the monk. However he did not do well Zadaal enjoyed the structure he was not familiar with but disagreed with the way everyone acted so honest and friendly it bothered him. A combination of this and not wanting to conform to the style of fighting the monks instructed him in but rather use his own style formed by his pit fights he was kicked out of the monastery. This was when he 14 or so a year after he was admitted into it.
Zadaal spent the next couple of years of his life doing work as security at different bars and events to make ends meets using nothing but his fists and wits to control the crowds. However he always felt like an outsider not because of his race which was accepted although weirly he didn't agree with the way people acted they were so honest and good while he believed that deception and manipulation were the only ways to move up in the world.
Zadal wanted to learn more about "The Fallen" and did research on him and found how he would like the world to be one as if it were ruled by this man...no this divine being Asmodeus. Zadaal went on to try and change the world to fit this mans ideals. However he knew it would not be easy so he tried to control people with fear to control them. He would use his skills of manipulation both of documents and of his intentions to get information over guards of estates. His goal was to try and show the world of the terrible deeds that the members of the Talingarde government does. This was his downfall one of the guards he thought he was controlling was in fact manipulating him. When he was getting important papers form a nobleman's house he was attacked on all sides and arrested on the spot. His crime High Treason on grounds of attempting to overthrow the crown.

She also possessed a headstrong and independent streak unseemly for a woman of her station. Angelica had no interest in being a 'proper lady.'
Luckily for her, her parents were forgiving of her unorthodox interests and she found a fast friend in the son of one of her father's attendants, a talented and handsome young man named Cormac. Cormac and Angelica were inseperable. When the other girls were learning needlepoint and dancing, Angelica and Cormac practiced archery and riding. She ignored music and adored the hunting trips with her father. She also found joy in exploring all the nooks and crannies of the old keep in which her family resided. It was during those treks that she found a secret shut away in one of the towers.
In the attic room were the remnants of the old religions of the kingdom, hurriedly hidden but never discarded by her grandparents: relics, books, and trappings dedicated to the old gods — the gods forbidden by the Church of Mitra. Fascinated, Angelica spent hours shut away with them, reading tomes, admiring icons, and dancing around while draped in altar hangings. She told no one of her discovery, not even Cormac, intuitively knowing the trouble it would get her in.
All was well, for a time, and Angelica knew happiness. Cormac joined the military of Talingarde, leaving her without a close friend. Her parents increasingly became less tolerant of their daughter's eccentricities now that she had reached marrying age. Many a fine and noble suitor was snubbed by Angelica . She had no desire to marry, no desire to tie herself down to another person. Instead, she rededicated her focus to her hobbies and, especially, to the hidden shrine.
Her parents were patient. They knew that there would be time to ease her fears of married life and turn her heart to love. For her part, Angelica was not afraid; she was angry — angry that she was expected to be dragged to the temple of Mitra and bound for the rest of her life to a man in order to continue his bloodline. She longed for the days of old when she could have devoted herself to a deity as a temple maiden, untouchable except by those she chose. She looked into the sacred writings and found oaths to Asmodeus: oaths that bound one to his service and devoted them to him as defenders against the enemies of the faith. She swore them, determined to help bring the old ways back and make herself an untouchable bastion of the church, beyond the reach of suitors and the demands of noble blood.
One fateful day, Angelica was made to endure a garden party by her parents. Unfortunately for her, they had a surprise for their willful daughter. In the middle of the event, surrounded by friends and family, a mystery suitor appeared: Cormac had returned heroically from his tours against the goblinoids in the northern reaches of Talingarde.
Unbeknown to Angelica, Cormac had always loved her and had petitioned her parents many times for her hand. They always refused, deeming his status too low to marry their child. When he returned home from the northern campaigns with a bounty of glory and freshly-knighted, he immediately petitioned again for the right to marry Angelica. Out of other options, her parents agreed to the arrangement, hopeful that this childhood friend that shared Angelica's interests would finally bring their daughter in line.
The result could not have been further from that hope. In front of the gathered guests, Cormac proceeded to recite an ode to his bride-to-be’s beauty. Angry and embarrassed, Angelica fled to her tower sanctuary, barricading the door behind her. Furious at her closest friend's betrayal and at her parent's collusion, she gathered up a twin-bladed sacrificial knife and, standing in front of a large mirror, dragged it down her face in an attempt to remove the beauty that seemed so important to everybody but her. She spared her eyes, but left a pair of twin trails through her flesh. Meanwhile, her parents had reached the limits of their patience. They followed her to the tower with her Cormac in tow. The men forced their way in, finding Angelica in the midst of her self-mutilation, surrounded by the forbidden trappings of her makeshift shrine.
Cormac took one look, turned, and left without a word.
Her parents wept.
Angelica laughed. She was laughing still when guardsmen — arriving to investigate the Cormac’s report — arrived to arrest her. Charged with blasphemy, she was sent to Branderscar to await the pyre. In some ways,
she finds this end preferable.
She finds her structure in personal commitment to a cause, be it the study of archery or the defense of a religion already beaten into submission. She respects the clergy of Mitra for their dedication, but despises them for encouraging what she perceives as the sham of social niceties and propriety.
Her renowned beauty is just another illusion to her. She will seek various body modifications—piercings, tattoos, brands — to alter her appearance into a form she finds pleasing, the opinions of others be damned. She looks upon the brand she received at Branderscar to actually
be a blessing.
Angelica throws herself headlong into her interests. This tendency is not some youthful fit of pique, wandering from one thing to another like a dilettante; instead, she fixates on something and immerses herself in it, applying all her discipline and attention until pulled away by some other passion. Even then she does not abandon prior devotions. She trained ardently at archery in her youth, and the bow is still her favored weapon. Knowledge and study of the old gods is still important to her, but loyalty to Asmodeus and destruction of his enemies holds primacy. That those enemies fuel the useless social trappings that she despises only furthers her drive to serve Asmodeus. Obsession fuels her drive to learn. If something holds no interest
for her, she forgets it rather quickly.
Naturally competitive, Angelica will often challenge her companions to contests. She enjoys passing the time by keeping score, whether it’s a contest to see who can kill the most guardsmen during a battle or a game of “I Spy” during a long trip.
Angelica desires to shoot down an angel if the opportunity ever presents itself. She daydreams about it and often brings down birds on the wing to help her visualize the event and practice against flying targets.
If you have any questions, please let me know!

All done with the changes Spooky.
I made her a dhampir and rewrote her story a great deal to fit it. Please check her page.
Her role is socialite and corrupter out of combat and during combat she will be a tanky bad toucher with her lay on hands and channels as well as plain fighter. Eventually she will be able to command foes in battle and even charm then to set them upon their enemies. I think that her sway over others is second to none and it will be fun to have her manipulate her enemies to fight among themselves.
She is a patient plotter who enjoys seeing her plans come to fruition. As long as her party members share her goal she will have no problem with them and be best of friends. She needs some new strong pawns after all ;). If they prove themselves worthy and strong useful allies she will respect them all the more.
As her immediate goal she will go after the witch hunter who caught her and as most of her old paladin order as she can. If possible she will corrupt them from within beforehand to turn many over to her cause.
After the paladin order has been corrupted beyond belief she can turn her focus on the stupid populace. She looks forward to corrupt lawmakers and the like to control the country from behind the screens and eventually take to the stage when everything is set. Her ultimate win would be to have to king be killed by his own daughter or wife.

Talk about a frontliner if you've ever seen one.
Next: Backstory
"V"
That's his name, or label. The people who raised him claimed it was the number of men it would take to bring him down in a fight. Said numerically, 5. He never cared about the origin of his name though, nor much of anything. V is a simple man, but he has extreme aspirations. To be the greatest gladiator the world had ever seen. Killing has been second nature to this product of illigitimate "love" ever since he could remember. Abandoned in the extreme elements as a child, his mother hoped to save him the embarassment that would become his life by leaving him for death(in hindsight, a fairly silly conclusion to jump to).
Found crying by travelling hunters, V's immense size even as a child proved to be a curiosity substantial enough to stir the minds of the hunters that day as to what he would grow up to become. They took the baby back to their village and cared for him, hoping for him to be the greatest hunter their humble village could ever ask for. However, V found himself unsatisfied killing animals with a bow and arrow. The frustration of merely attempting to master the strange instruments proved to be the powder keg that would help him find his true calling. In a rage, the child took off for the game the hunters had picked out for him, arrow in hand, jumping on the creature and stabbing it repeatedly through the chest. While the hunters of the men rejoiced in his killing potential, the other boys were jealous of the then called -NewBoy- and insisted on proving his size was merely show.Regularly they would pick fights with him, only to be thrown off and beaten by the enraged half ogre.
Soon the vilage saw an oppertunity in front of them, as V was not troubled by the bullying, nay, he relished in lashing out, fighting back, and sending the boys to a healer each time they grew a new backbone. A rudimentary pit was set up when V was but a teenager, though his size would never indicate that to anyone, and he began taking part in pit fights with the other men of the village. With the introduction of gambling in fights, the transition to such a barbaric practice was simple for V, but not for the village. Soon V was banished, having inspired such barbarous practices in the men of the village, and insisting on fighting any who would dare challenge him, inside or outside of the pit.
V was not troubled, no no, he wished for more. That pit was a child's play pen to this man. Travelling the world V found himself interested in the bare knuckle brawls he would find in the small villages, but he needed more than that. the satisfaction of slamming a fist into a man and nobody knowing if the end result was death was good, but knowing death, was far more refreshing. Soon V found himself in cities, which would organize behind the scenes gladiatorial fights. Now this was a challenge. Weapons evened the odds a bit. As large as he was, V could just as easily be cut as anyone else, and he enjoyed that fact immensely. The pain was a rush, the victory was glorious, and the pay offered him more than he could ever dream of in feast, drink, and women.
Then came the day the wrong person muttered the word 'thug' under his breath at V's passing. V is a great many things. A war monger, an abomination of human and ogre, even a killer, but a mere thug? Such a word is insulting more than to those who have never touched a weapon in their lives. Unluckily for the brutish man however, the offending man was no mere passerby, but a noble of enough influence to surround himself with five armed guards. True to his name, it possibly took all five to bring him down and keep him until he was collected by the city watch. Now he awaits in a prison, his property taken, his armor, his weapons, everything gone, with nothing but the chopping block awaiting the man who dare attempt to murder a 'man of noble blood'. This might seem like the end for our intrepid brute, but...possibly...this is merely the beginning.
Typed that in notepad, tried to keep his origin setting slightly vague as I'm not sure if your world has the available snow fields I usually play him hailing from.
And finally, Crunch:
V offers few things to the party admittedly, but what he does offer is not only in substantial proportion, but invaluable to any adventurers, no matter race, creed, or profession.
The killing potential of a brute this size on anything unlucky enogh to get in his way alone renders him a brute, but his ability to take just as much punishment as he recieves renders him naught but a juggernaut. Woe betide any who would take a good fight from his grasp, he will insist on tanking as many enemies as he can possibly handle, and with his "Come and Get Me" rage power(which he will develop later), V can retaliate to any vast quantity of opponents simultaneously, unless they manage to take his massive form down first. As far as something V is capable of outside of battle, social interactions among those who stand in the way of a party are easily 'delt with' almost merely by his presence. Naturally he is intimidating to merely stand in the same room with, but if he tries, V is capable of reducing a king with vast armies at his command to a puddle of piss. Though, for added fun, as much of a fierce warrior as V is, he has no direction, and no capability of discerning danger, or mistrust. He is easily manipulated by even the most casual of lies, and could be tricked into believing an innocent child is a human incarnation of Demogorgon, or that the man standing with a knife at his throat was merely there to protect him from other dangers.
One of the greatest things I love about this character is not his strenght, or tankyness, but how gullible he is. Not only is this incredibly fun in a group of evil characters, to manipulate V into doing whatever their greedy little blackened hearts desire, but it's also fun for the GM. Manipulating V into doing adverse things, and making the party react, is a joyous occasion for an evil GM to take part in. Once, V was hypnotized by a vampire into, and I quote "Beating a motherf@@$er with another motherf+#+er."
Side note: Apparently using a half elven ranger counts as an Exotic Weapon that does Greataxe damage.
